      Internalized biphobia/homophobia is more common among lgbtq people than you think 😢
      I had that issue once. It's kinda like a self defense or self preservation thing where you publicly hate and destroy what you are in order to give society the idea that you are not part of that group so that you are not suspected and therefore can hide in plain sight. People with internalized biphobia/homophobia act like this out of self hatred and a desire to scrub away what they are because they're afraid of what society may think. I don't know how best to explain it, but it's kinda like how "pick me" girls have internalized misogyny as a result of society's hatred for women.
      I'm not justifying her behavior, nor my previous actions or anybody else who had internalized biphobia/homphobia. Rather, I'm giving you an idea as to why this happens.
      She should be held accountable for her actions.

      Well it seems she had a problem with gay men, not women, which is still homophobic obviously. A lot of people who have gay relationships and sex don't consider these relationships and sexual encounters part of their identity, rather seeing them as just actions and do not consider themselves part of any wider lgbt community, even being disgusted by the community and identities. This is especially common in older people

      There are many reasons why I don't like Brigitte Bardot, but perhaps the most prominent one is her reputation as a heartless rich bitch. While she may have been adored by many for her beauty and acting talent, her actions and attitudes have shown a lack of empathy and compassion that is truly disheartening.
      Firstly, Bardot's treatment of animals is appalling. Despite being known as a passionate animal rights activist, she has been repeatedly accused of neglecting and mistreating her own pets. In 2004, she was fined for keeping her donkey and goat in unsanitary conditions, and she has also faced charges for neglecting her dogs and allowing them to roam freely and attack other animals. It is deeply troubling to see someone who claims to care about animal welfare behaving in such a callous and irresponsible manner.
      Moreover, Bardot's behavior towards people has also been far from admirable. She has made numerous racist and xenophobic remarks, including referring to immigrants as 'invaders' and advocating for a 'white Europe.' These comments not only showcase her ignorance and bigotry, but also perpetuate harmful and exclusionary attitudes. It is unacceptable for someone with such a platform and influence to spread hate and intolerance.
      Furthermore, Bardot's wealth and privilege seem to have disconnected her from reality and the struggles of the average person. She has been known to make insensitive and elitist comments, such as saying that poor people should not have children if they cannot afford them. Her wealth and fame have allowed her to live in a bubble of luxury and extravagance, seemingly without any concern for those less fortunate.
      In addition to her problematic actions and attitudes, Bardot's constant need for attention and controversy is exhausting. She has often made controversial statements and posed nude for photoshoots even in her old age, seemingly desperate to stay in the public eye. It is disappointing to see someone who was once revered as a symbol of beauty and sophistication resort to such attention-seeking behavior.
      In conclusion, while Brigitte Bardot may have been an icon in her prime, her behavior and attitudes over the years have been deeply disappointing. Her lack of compassion, disregard for animal welfare, and harmful comments towards marginalized groups make it difficult to admire her. She may have been a star on the silver screen, but her actions off-screen have shown her to be nothing more than a heartless rich bitch.

      You would.be surprised how many people do not learn and grow, especially how you think they should. She learned her own lessons. She grew in her own way. I, too, want utopia where everyone is kind and respectful of one another, but that is not a human thing. We are dualistic in nature (just like nature itself) and some lean and stay in one aspect more than others, some move from one end to another, and some run along the scale back and forth all their life.

      Pretty Privilege in a nutshell

  • @AWinterLullaby
    @AWinterLullaby Před 5 měsíci +575

    Brigitte Bardot is the epitome of rich/white/pretty privilege. Most of what she had was given to her on a silver plate thanks to her beauty and charisma. She didn't want to pursue an acting career, yet she became one of the most famous actress of her generation simply by catching the eye of a director. As her contemporaries say, she wasn't even acting, just playing herself. Even her fashion style defines itself as being effortless, which Bardot often prides herself for. And while it's commendable how she became such an icon through charisma and beauty alone, I cannot help but think of how all that privilege contributed to shaping her out-of-touch worldview, especially regarding discriminated groups. The fact that she prides herself for being the face of the sexual revolution, having slept with men and women, yet she still discriminates lgbt+ people... That's wild.

    • @PoisonelleMisty4311
      @PoisonelleMisty4311 Před 5 měsíci +38

      On top of that, Bardot's controversial views on immigration and animal rights have also led to widespread criticism. She has been known to make inflammatory statements about immigrants and refugees, and has been fined multiple times for inciting racial hatred. Her disregard for animal rights has also drawn backlash, with her support of bullfighting and fur clothing causing outrage among animal activists.
      Overall, Brigitte Bardot's privilege has allowed her to live a life of luxury and fame, but it has also led to her being out of touch with the struggles and challenges faced by marginalized communities. It serves as a reminder of the importance of using one's platform for good and being mindful of the impact of one's words and actions on others.

    That part about her husband forcing her to continue pregnancy after she repeatedly tried to end it made me shudder. I can't imagine being forced to give birth against my will and then have to pretend to be a happy mother in front of the camera. The saddest thing is that plenty of women who were forced into motherhood have to pretend in a similar way, because they obviously can't let others see that they never wanted to be a parent, because that's not fair to the child - thus perpetuating the myth that eeeevery woman is happy to have children, even if she didn't want them before they were born.

Obviously SOMEBODY has to perform this basic, low level human function ie breed. But, just because YOU choose that role as YOUR life aspiration doesn't entitle you yo inflict it on others who see it as unimportant, don't want it, or to judge them adversely, discrimminate against them etc, just because they are not breeders like you. Sick of yjis current generation and also some older ones inflicting their ideas on this assessment on others who think differently. Back in the 60's, I'm BB' s youth the Baby Boomers generation were not into this breeding 'my family' thing, like millennials are. Having kids was stigmatised, the sort of thing backward plebs, Catholics etc did. The Boomer a married but would generally only have 1 kid, to please their old, maybe 2 if there was a contraception failure. It was not the sort of status thing having kids is a long millennials. The Boomers had better, more important goals in life. But those who did breed raised them well, unlike this millennial generation do. So, stop judgeing people from a different era, with different values according to your own worthless, irrelevant, toxic, offensive values others reject outright. While it is undoubtedly true that Brigitte Bardot has graced the silver screen with her undeniable beauty and captivated audiences around the world, it cannot be denied that her wealth may have clouded her once-charming personality. One cannot help but notice that behind those perfectly sculpted features lies a heartless demeanor. Perhaps, at times, the affluence she possesses has tainted her understanding of the struggles faced by ordinary folks. It's as if she views empathy as an unnecessary accessory to complement her lavish lifestyle. However, let us remember that being wealthy does not equate to being immune from compassion or human decency. Alas, Bardot seems to have missed that memo while partying on her yacht in the glamorous ports of Saint-Tropez. It is regrettable, for she could have used her influential status to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate instead of exclusively bathing in self-indulgence and indifference.

      There are numerous reasons why I have a strong aversion towards Brigitte Bardot, and it all boils down to one simple fact: she is a heartless rich bitch. Despite being lauded as a sex symbol and an icon of French cinema, Bardot's actions and behavior have consistently shown her true nature - one of selfishness, cruelty, and entitlement. From her blatant disregard for animal rights to her racism and bigotry, Bardot's actions have time and time again proven that she is nothing more than a spoiled, privileged individual who has no empathy for anyone or anything outside of her own bubble of wealth and fame.
      First and foremost, Bardot's complete lack of regard for animal welfare is truly disturbing. As a known animal lover and activist, one would expect her to use her platform and resources to advocate for the well-being of animals. However, Bardot has repeatedly made headlines for her cruel treatment of animals, including the infamous incident where she had her pet monkey euthanized simply because it had grown too big to handle. She has also been fined multiple times for mistreating her own animals, including her horses and dogs. It is clear that Bardot's love for animals only extends as far as they serve her own selfish desires, and she has no qualms about discarding them when they no longer do so.
      Furthermore, Bardot's bigoted and racist views have been well-documented. She has made numerous derogatory comments towards various minority groups, including immigrants, Muslims, and the LGBTQ+ community. Her statements are not only offensive and harmful, but they also showcase her complete lack of empathy towards those who are different from her. It is alarming that someone with such a large platform and influence would use it to spread hate and intolerance rather than promoting acceptance and equality.
      Additionally, Bardot's privileged upbringing and wealth have undoubtedly contributed to her entitled and selfish behavior. She has been quoted saying that she does not care about the struggles of the working class, and has even gone as far as to say that she would rather be deaf than poor. Her elitist attitude and complete disregard for those less fortunate than her only solidify the fact that she is nothing more than a heartless rich bitch who is out of touch with the realities of the world.
      In conclusion, the reasons for my disdain towards Brigitte Bardot are plentiful. Her heartlessness, selfishness, and lack of empathy make it impossible for me to see her as anything other than a despicable human being. Despite her fame and beauty, Bardot's true character is revealed through her actions and words, and it is one that I cannot help but despise.

    Disclaimer: I do not hate Brigitte Bardot, nor do I spend lots of time thinking about this; as I feel cultural sensitivities are different in the U.K. And I do feel for her at certain points in her life and respect her as a film, fashion and beauty icon. However, when making a topic on Bardot, I couldn’t just ignore the things she said if I was going to chronicle her life authentically and I just wanted to make it clear I don’t support anything she’s said. Moreover, when I use the terms ‘bigot’ or ‘racial hatred’ it’s not as if I’ve conjured up the dictionary definitions of these words; Brigitte just fits these definitions literally. And I don’t even think she’d want anyone to ‘defend’ her by obscuring what’s she’s said, as that would probably take away from her core message, which she continually reaffirms. As I’ve stated in the video, she has her place in history and I can respect that, whilst simultaneously bringing to light her activities since retirement.

I totally get that she's this iconic figure from the golden age of cinema and all, but for me, there are a few reasons why I just can't warm up to her. First off, this whole idea of her being heartless: it's hard to ignore some of her controversial statements regarding certain religious and ethnic communities. It's one thing to have your opinions, but to publicly express such disdain towards others just doesn't sit right with me. Plus, let's not forget that she comes from a place of immense privilege as a wealthy individual. While I respect her contributions to the entertainment industry, it sometimes feels like she may be out of touch with the everyday struggles faced by most people. Ultimately, everyone is entitled to their own preferences and opinions when it comes to celebrities, and these are just mine when it comes to Brigitte Bardot.

      She’s certainly an interesting character. I find it whimsical how her opinions/actions are sometimes quite contradictory/inconsistent or unpredictable. 🤣✨
      Whilst I don’t agree with some of her opinions, I do love some of her films and style. Regardless of what she’s said, I do hope she lives a long and happy life as I do believe she’s had severe struggles with mental health, specifically depression. 🙏🏻❤️

    As a side story: Paul Mccartney and John Lennon (members of the Beatles) both regarded Brigitte as their 'ideal woman', comparing every woman with her and even encouraging their respective girlfriends Dot Rhone and Cynthia Powell (later Lennon's wife) to look more like her. The girls both got blonder and blonder. John, in particular, was infatuated with Bardot, hanging a poster of the actress on his ceiling.
    His ex-wife Cynthia said about her change of style: 'I found myself fast becoming moulded into her style of dress and haircut. ... Under his influence, ... metamorphosis was taking place, and this time the emphasis was on oomph! Long blonde hair, tight black sweaters, tight short skirts, high-heeled pointed shoes and to add the final touch, black fishnet stockings and suspenders.'
    Paul also revealed the group had 'w*nking sessions' to Brigitte.
    Because of John's fame, he was finally able to meet his celebrity crush and fantasy woman in May 1968. Despite his fame surpassing her own at that point, Pete Shotton (his friend) had noted John blew his chance to make an impression on his dream woman. Shotton wrote: '[John] had arrived home somewhat earlier than I'd expected, looking far more sullen than the occasion warranted.'
    He claimed John had explained that meeting Brigitte in the flesh had made him so nervous, he dropped ac*d before meeting her, so the only thing he said to her was 'Hello.' John recalled: 'Then she spent the whole time talking in French with her friends, and I could never think of anything to say. It was a terrible night -- worse than meeting Elvis.'

      Unhealable wound of these people may be the result of the fact that other people, their parents, teachers, colleagues, superiors etc. have been constantly belittling them, although they have had no reason to do so. It is as if they have always been lacking something and therefore cannot be regarded as full-fledged. Revolutionary social events could deprive them of property that has been in the family for generations. These people cannot seem to manage to create their own privacy. It's as if something prevents them from enjoying the little that they have. Even the accumulation of property and various rewards and prices can not heal this injury.

I Didn't take her outings seriously in the 90s en in the 00s, but right now I m frightened about the fact that she was an early prophet of the current political and social climate. Too many people thinks the way she does right now so, maybe, the political discussion, instead of insulting and fining her, should give her attention and suggest ideas for the dawning distress between a wide section of the population. I m nobody and my indifference wasn't meaningful, but the political leaders behave just like me, meanwhile many had recognized in her words their own feelings. We are living in dangerous times.... Oh, Brigitte Bardot, the epitome of heartlessness wrapped in riches! Where do I even begin to unravel my aversion towards this towering vixen of indifference? Let me enlighten you, dear reader. Behind that glamorous façade and those perfectly coiffed tresses lies a woman who seems to have an affinity for taking aim at all things warm and fuzzy. Her callous disregard for animal rights has been well documented over the years, with numerous reports showcasing her disdain for our furry friends. And as if that weren't enough, her character seems tainted by an unapologetic air of superiority that only vast wealth can bring about. Oh, sweet Bardot, your aloofness and heartlessness may appeal to some, but this wit simply cannot find solace in your cold persona.

When will your generation learn that every person's views are their own, and they are fully entitled to their views and opinions, NO_MATTER_WHAT they are. You can consider them, you do not need to agree with them, but to demonize and target someone because of their views is only an attempt to control expression and thought that is in fact against UN stated human rights - and in fact a fascist method of oppression by the definition.
