  • West Calls Indian Media Coverage "Ill-informed" | Vantage With Palki Sharma
The Economist recently published an article on Indian media's foreign affairs coverage, calling it "stunningly ill-informed and hyperpartisan".
The writers have also called on prime minister Narendra Modi to "take note", as such coverage could drum up hostility to the world.
Palki Sharma tells you why this article reeks of western arrogance and superiority complex.

This judging and preaching atitude in diplomats, politicians from USA, EU etc, or in news outlets from USA, Europe etc for that matter comes from their monotheistic world view, USA, europe etc are by and large monotheistic societies, monotheism says, "only I'm true and others are at fault or sinner" , this attitude or thinking process takes away the ability of truthfulness and objective thinking from a person, So whether a person is a believer or a non-believer, a left winger or a right winger it doesn't matter, his/her thought process becomes such that he/she always considers himself/herself right and others wrong without objectively and truthfully looking at things.

So you too think Indian media has a right to cast judgement on native American people and their 3rd century culture. These people lived in harmony with nature, not plundering and polluting. So what if they were farmers, they had beautiful culture. In the 3rd century Rome and Greece had a thriving trade with India, and it's well documented that female European slaves were highly praised in India as concubines and dancers. The same records that discuss Indian military strategy also document trade in great detail.

No bias, no projection of ideologies or political leaning, no narratives to spin, no half truths, no fake news, just simple, pure, unadulterated, professional journalism. Do you see it all over western media like it would be if it was maybe the US or a country in Europe or Australia or Canada?

It has been a disaster for China, which has wasted vast sums of money, and almost all countries which participated in this scandalous and useless enterprise has cost them dear. It is better to turn the dictator Xi into a pariah. The Chinese people, who are delightful, are suffering from Xi´s wasteful and stupid projects. A European here, personally I love the way Palki Sharma is doing her job, always supporting analysis with facts and counter facts and one thing I really appreciate about Indian journalism is their neutrality when delivering news or analyzing a phenomenon. In this video for example, Palki Sharma attacks The Economist targeting them as arrogant and proving how they were wrong multiple times but still want to lecture others, basically proving them arrogant.
We need more journalists like Palki Sharma and more countries joining India in focusing in international affairs while offering different and neutral perspectives.

For Westerners: Chanakya aka Kautilya (born 375 BCE) authored the political treatise called the Arthashastra - around the third century BCE. He is considered the pioneer of the field of political science and economics. Around 321 BCE, Chanakya assisted the first Mauryan emperor Chandragupta in his rise to power and is credited for having played an important role in the establishment of the Maurya Empire.

But in 375 BCE, the year when Kautilya was born, Plato had already written 'The Republic', which is one of the most influential works on political theory. So I would say claiming that Kautilya is the pioneer of political science and economics is quite exaggerated, given the fact that there were plenty of philosophers in ancient greece that were discussing these subjects. And ancient greece is not even the oldest ancient civilization. The babylonians, egyptian, sumerians, assyrians, akkadians all had their own writers and philosophers.

@@ngkeam9491 The latest data shows that the youth unemployment rate in India was 23.22% in 2022. This means that out of every 100 young people in the labor force, 23 were unemployed. The youth unemployment rate has been hovering around the 22% mark for the past decade.
China's youth unemployment rate is higher than India's. In June 2023, China's youth unemployment rate (ages 16-24) was 21.3%, while India's youth unemployment rate was 23.22%. However, it is worth noting that China has stopped releasing youth unemployment data since then, so the actual rate could be higher.
There are a number of factors that contribute to youth unemployment in both China and India. These include:
      * The rapid growth of the population, which has put a strain on the country's resources and led to a shortage of jobs.
      * The lack of quality education and training, which leaves many young people without the skills they need to find work.
      * The informal economy, which is large and growing in both countries, and often provides low-paying and insecure jobs.
      * The gender gap in employment, with young women more likely to be unemployed than young men.
In addition, China's economy has been slowing down in recent years, which has led to fewer job opportunities for young people. The government of China has taken a number of steps to address youth unemployment, including:
      * Investing in education and training programs.
      * Promoting entrepreneurship and self-employment.
      * Creating jobs in the formal sector.
      * Addressing the gender gap in employment.

Great response Palki. The Economists reactiom is a positive sign that Western media has lost viewership, readership and listenership to Indian media. This is the same criticism that the African and Indian fim industry faced from Hollywood when they smelled the competition and felt threatened by it for good reason. Western media and institutions believe theyre right and everyone else is wrong all the time. This is how they make mistakes that are even fatal for their populations like we saw over the past 3 years when they wouldnt listen to African and Indian doctors and scientists on how to handle the pandemic. So allow them to continue in their blind arrogance. Their own people have already lost confidence in them and are seeking alternative news sources. BBC is a casualty already i believe the Economist is too in terms of subscriptions thus the attack and backlash. 😅
