For most novices, barbell rows are a good alternative to deadlifting every session. So you can alternate between deadlifting and barbell rowing each session. For intermediate/advanced lifters, barbell rows can be used as a pulling alternative & to build some upper back mass. You may use them on the days that you do not deadlift or use them in conjunction with other pulls like chin-ups!
