    @improm2u Thanks for the feedback. I'm planning to do a future video covering the performance of these in more depth. To use it wirelessly is very simple, When the adapters are switched on you just search for the wireless network (by default it is devolo followed by random numbers) and then enter the security key printed on the back of each device, just as if you are connecting directly to your router.

  • @camerongray1515
    @camerongray1515  Před 13 lety

    @improm2u Correct, you just plug in and use the wireless password printed on the back of the wireless plug. You should also secure the powerline network by pressing the button on the bottom of the small adapter followed by the "dLAN" button on the large one.
    For more information, go to the first link in the description and choose "download" on the right hand side, on that page there is an option to download a full instruction manual. (PDF format)

    @Drebln893 You only get the 2 adapters in the "Starter Kit" that I reviewed here - You must have bought the large adapter on its own. You can either buy a small adapter separately or see if you can return the large adapter and buy the "Starter Kit" instead.

    Hi Cameron, thank you so much for your very helpful video. I'm wondering if the second step of setting up their software is actually required?

  • @camerongray1515
    @camerongray1515  Před 13 lety

    @improm2u You would have two different networks in your network list, you would then pick the one that you want to connect to e.g. Devolo and regular network. You would click the one you want to connect to. The passwords for both should be saved so you will not have to enter them again. You can also connect to the Devolo using a regular ethernet cable.

  • @camerongray1515
    @camerongray1515  Před 13 lety

    @electroram Are you sure that you are trying to access the configuration on the Wireless N adapter since the simple adapter doesn't have a configuration page. If this doesn't work, try contacting Devolo's support.

  • @camerongray1515
    @camerongray1515  Před 13 lety

    @jwoodman It will create another wireless network with the name "Devolo" followed by a randomly generated string and the password on the back of the unit, both of these can be changed though the web interface on the large adapter as I briefly covered in this review.

    @GDelva2003 Your modem will likely need to be connected to a router first (Unless there is one built into the modem).
    Like any other mains device, they will raise the electricity bill but since these draw so little power, there will be almost no noticeable difference.

    @ForViewingOnly Před 11 lety

    Quality review, thank you! Are there any issues with the Devolo Homeplug gear getting locked up if the main ADSL modem/router is downpowered? (I switch my modem/router off at night because it is a high power wifi unit, and is next to the bedrooms.)

    i got my hands on the larger one of these plugs (mate didnt need it anymore) - can i make it work wirelessly WITHOUT the small one connected via ethernet to my router? (i dont have the small one). ive connected it up to my router and it works fine but it wont work upstairs when plugged in unwired.

  • @camerongray1515
    @camerongray1515  Před 12 lety

    @Thenicecheese Try the adapters in different wall outlets, possibly ones nearer to each other. If this fails, your house wiring may be too old or organised in a way that is incompatible with this type of networking.

  • @camerongray1515
    @camerongray1515  Před 13 lety

    @Petter1900 They are very fast - They can transfer data at a maximum of 200mbps and I usually get speeds very close to that.

  • @James0741
    @James0741 Před 4 lety

    Does this work if you have two minis or do you have to have a large one for it to work?

  • @MRQuinnExtra
    @MRQuinnExtra Před 10 lety

    Does it work ?
    What I am wondering is if my built in wireless is picking up two bars if i connect this will it get stronger ?

  • @Thenicecheese
    @Thenicecheese Před 12 lety

    Thanks :) I didn't know what too do so I just held the reset button on the wireless adapter for 10 seconds to restore it back to the factory settings and that seemed to work, but thanks anyway :D

  • @camerongray1515
    @camerongray1515  Před 12 lety

    @dave00dance In theory it should work but it can depend on how the wiring works and if there is any interference - If possible borrow one to check it first or at least make sure you can return it if it doesn't work

    So if I plugged the small one into my router downstairs and plugged the wireless one upstairs and wanted to use it for online gaming, do I need to use the SSD on the devolo or just s ply continue to use my SSD from my router?

    hi i recently bought these at a carboot got them home set them up but i can't connect my phone or games console to them...i have tried the numbers on the back as passwords on my phone and ps3 but still nothing...i am not sure what i am suppose to be entering on ps3 and phone as the instructions are not very clear as you said in your video thanks

  • @camerongray1515
    @camerongray1515  Před 13 lety

    @congey2002 Personally I have received at least 150mbps if not more with fairly old mains wiring. The speed that you receive will vary depending on the wiring in your house and any nearby interference.

    i bought this kit, and the signal was perfectly storng and stable, but i was only recieving half my 30mb Wifi, is there any powerlines that will give me full speed? or at least near enough full speed? i never had a problem with my netgear broadband wifi, where ever i was the wifi was at full speed, so i dont understand why since i switched to virgin,, i get half the speed only being upstairs... and while the powerline offered a more stable line and slight increase, it was still not full speed.

    on each plug there is 3 lights that should light up but on my 3 way adapter only 2 of the lights are lit...the one that is not lighting is the one that looks like an upside down Y (if that makes sense) any suggestions please

    @jodzz1 I don't own an Xbox so I can't tell for sure but it will likely be more reliable than a wireless connection.

  • @camerongray1515
    @camerongray1515  Před 13 lety

    @linlo1986 Unfortunately I don't think that that is supported. Personally I have ethernet devices connected to my wifi network through an Edimax EW-7206APg set up in "Station-Infrastructure" mode. I then have this connected to an 8-port switch so I can connect more than 1 device to it. I presume that you could use any other access point as long as it supports "Station-Infrastructure" mode. You may be able to find one that has a switch built in too.

    You didn't cover the one thing I wanted - how to make the wireless connection. I'm hopelessly confused - does this set up a new network which I access with the password on the back of the large unit, or does it access my existing unsatisfactory wirelss network.
