Can you think of a situation (injury, trade, etc) that created a domino effect?

    • @Golden_Trio_HP

one trade that definitely did create a domino effect was the mike hoffman trade from the sens.

      @matthewklassen7457 Před 5 měsíci

McSorley for a bit, eliminated enforcers making the NHL more european (open ice, more finesse, less violence)... but didn't snowball enough to matter and change the league enough. Violence still talks and the NHL/Dept Player Safety vs NHLPA is a much bigger divide. (since ted lindsay's days)

@@matthewklassen7457 He missed the empty net which meant the Oilers clawed back to win (this is the dark days for the oilers) which meant that they had the 4th or something like that best odds at P. Kane iirc
which made it so that the Blackhawks would go on and get the 3rd best odds and eventually win the lottery which got them P. Kane. And technically speaking Stepan won the Blackhawks 3 cups, Kane, Bedard (because Kane single handedly made the Blackhawks the 3rd worst team). If my explanation was kinda hard to follow I believe Hockey Psychology has a video on it.

Dach's injury coming right out out of the gate this season is just so sad he has to wait a whole other year to score his 100th point and all MTL fans miss him it just sucks especially that the injury was against his former team

In his defense, Dach seems like he's going to be the typical NHL player that is prone to injuries, as in he might get a season ending injury by wearing the wrong type of socks to a new year's eve party. To be clear, I'm a Habs fan and Dach is one of my favorite players on the Habs. He moves the puck better than Nick Suzuki IMHO and if he can finally wear the correct type of socks, he might become the Habs top scorer or at least top centerman in the next few seasons.

And now Bedard is out with an injury for who knows how long (one source said 6-8 weeks, while another said indefinitely). What a weird chain of events that started with that incident. There was the whole Kyle Beach situation that saw front office personnel resign, a member of the Wirtz family that owned the franchise passed away, the second Chicago player from the 2010 scandal filed a lawsuit, the team drowning in the abyss which is turning them into the 2010's Oilers. While some of these events would have occurred even if Dach didn't suffer that injury, it's still interesting to speculate what could have been.
Speaking of the Oilers, how about Stefan botching an empty netter that allowed the Oilers to tie the game and ultimately gave Chicago the first overall pick in the 2007 draft, which allowed them to pick Patrick Kane? While the Oilers wasted 2 of their 3 first round picks in that same draft and suffered an entire decade in the NHL abyss with 4 first overall selections in 6 years leading to them drafting Connor McDavid? We can't look at that one game and say that's how the Oilers' Decade of Despair started, but it's the one that stands out more than the others.

That’s the problem these day’s spending 10’s of millions of dollars for athletic players with smaller physiques that would never be able to take a Scott stevens hit without getting injured for a long time. I’m a leaf’s fan all my life and 11.5 to Willy and he can’t play in the corners. The chance on any given night to lose one of your superstars is hi as that hit on Bedard didn’t look that hard but that’s what happens when small kids get hit by men!! I believe Mcdavid will go down in history as the best player to ever lace um up if he gets a cup. But the way and speed in which he plays can result in a career ending injury in any game. We all thought he was done when he hit the post with his leg but luckily he recovered from it and we still have the privilege to watch him play for now. Look at Jagr and Ovechkin they have so many points and ovie might break Gretzky goals record and they can do it because they play slower and are much bigger and stronger than next gen players in the nhl…

As a Coyotes fan, the draft lottery continues to piss me off... despite finishing last or close to it for several seasons, the Coyotes never got a #1 pick. This was especially frustrating in seasons where legit superstars have been on the board, but somehow a major franchise always manages to jump into that #1 spot. I am not a fan of conspiracy theories, but there is just no way it is a coincidence that a big franchise like Edmonton or Chicago somehow always gets the top pick when the next "generational" talent pops up. Statistically speaking, that's beyond the realm of normal probability to just be random chance.

The Sens were going on sale at the time and the NHL couldn't let them sell for less than their valuation, it would hurt tge value of every team in the league. Helping Ottawa get Debrincat for almost nothing by garaunteeing Bedard to the Blackhawks, a big market team NHL is desparate to keep relevant, fixed their immediate problem with Ottawa and Chicago's return to their historic trend of being a bad team in a large market.

I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope the Hawks will fall off by the lottery instead of the opposite all the freaking time. Let them feel how is it to pick 6th instead of 1 or 2. Please, some karma somewhere, somewhen, for the tarnished cups they got.

The people involved were not players, and they are not with the team anymore. It’s not like they cheated and won three cups. People just love to hate, just like everyone saying they are glad Bedard fractured his jaw and how it was about time someone hit him hard. They would not be playing the same tune if it was their favorite team. These people hated the Blackhawks before this scandal came out, and they now just have a reason to hate the team even though the players themselves were not involved.

Draft is rigged. Bedard should be a Blue Jacket.

I still can't believe Chicago got to keep their 1st round pick after the Kyle Beech saga but the Coyotes lose a first round pick for "Draft Tampering" and the Senators will have to give up a first round pick because their GM failed to pass on a no trade list. What a Mickey Mouse league

One affected on ice play, the other was an off ice issue that isn’t mandated by the league.
Hawks paid their dues and no amount of your tears is gonna change anything 😂

Please explain to me how the coyotes hosting private training sessions with draft eligible players affects on ice play. @@Lord-Hossa

@@Lord-Hossa What was the due they paid for? The league basically let them go free of any consequences.

    • @Lord-Hossa

@@peroxxgoldee2559 “basically” right there…..you know that the Hawks paid a fine for the situation and settled with Kyle Beach privately. You’re aware of this fact but still say they didn’t pay any dues.
Again it’s over and no amount of harping will change the fact that comparing things that affect draft prospects or trades (Ottawa, Arizona) are mandated by the league and in the confines of punishment by the league. While an off ice Human Resources matter even a situation as heinous and disgusting as the Beach incident isn’t under the realm of the league in the rule book.

What’s up with this weird future tense that you are always using to describe past events? Is it a Canadian thing?

I still think, Regardless if he didn't break his wrist, Theyd still win C. Bedard
And PS C. Bedard will fall off after this broken jaw

How’s he gonna fall off from a broken jaw ? It’s not a wrist injury that effects your shooting and puck control it’s your jaw he just will play with more awareness and not foolishly cut to the middle of the ice with his head down again it was a small mistake he learned from and everybody at some point in there career gets caught with there head down so bedard will be fine
