    A good trick is to completely flux cover the whole piece before soldering. Dramatically reduces firescaling and having it turn black. Lovely work. Thanks for sharing.

    Nice cuffs! I have a question. When setting the stones, I was always taught to do them in opposite sides (I.e., north south east and then west and then in between each of the sides. I noticed that you didn’t do that. Don’t you ever get overlapping or crinkled bezels? I’m definitely not an expert by any means, but I’m learning and wanted to ask about your process. Thank you. ♥️

    • @thehautebohemian5753
      @thehautebohemian5753  Před 5 lety +2

      Great question, thanks for asking! You can do it either way. I usually just go all the way around with a serrated or scalloped bezel and do NSEW with plain bezel. I think the whole point of NSEW is so your stone stays in place while setting it. You also only get crinkles when the bezel isn’t the appropriate height for the stone. Hope this helps!

    Hi there are so many options in purchasing bezel wire for each of the item #'s you are using, so as a beginner which size of bezel to purchase??
    Which dimensions of bezel wire from 094x.010 to .250x.016 of 30 g wire?
    Can you tell me which one you are showing in dimensions in your demo?

    • @thehautebohemian5753
      @thehautebohemian5753  Před 4 lety +1

      Purchasing bezel wire all depends on the height of the stone. I would recommend purchasing a small amount of each size to test out which you feel most comfortable with. A foot of bezel wire cost a couple dollars. I use 1/8” or 3/16” depending on the bezel height. You can always sand the bezel wire if it’s too tall for the stone.

    One more question 🙈 I was a t a work shop and made copper bangles, but I want to add some of my stones to them. Can you make a bezel with copper and solder it to the bracelets ? Or does that only work with silver ?

    • @thehautebohemian5753
      @thehautebohemian5753  Před 5 lety

      Absolutely! Many people use mixed metal when creating pieces. Silver solder will work but of you want more of a gold look you can used copper solder.

      I believe it’s the MM-3 model. Any oval mandrel would work fine though 😊

      @@thehautebohemian5753 Thank you, I should have a bit more discreptive. I meant, where am I able to buy at a store other than hobby lobby or Michael's. There's little Sterling silver and what they do have costs way to more for just 10 ft of wire.
