Me: I guess I've been doing it wrong because I never hear music when I drop my salmon into the pan
You know you’re rich when: you’re not afraid to scratch your teflon with a metal spoon.
It’s special spatula that’s made for that
@@FleetTech97 he's talking about the spoon, not the spatula. But even the spatula can scratch the non stick pan, it's stainless steel
Teflon is NOT a thing. He's using Scanpan which has a 5 layer coating with stratanium. Safe for all tools, including metal.
@@reallytonya714 Teflon IS a thing. It's literally polymerized tetrafluoroethylene. It has many uses, including COATING COOKING UTENSILS.
It's not teflon, it's a carbon steel pan

Get Lanced Alot Gemsy He actually was around 2010-2013

he went slightly how to basic on that potato...
Haha very slight
Good to know that I wasn't the only one who noticed that
Aqim Julayhi i When I was watching this video, I thought he'd made a mistake when he said "smashed" instead of "mashed" for the potatoes until he did his demonstration. Goes to show this man is very harmonious with his food.
Yes. Although there was a distinct lack of egg. egg/10 would potato again

2:05. I came to watch Gordon cook but I stayed for the organ player in the background music. Dude is laying it down the entire track.

Gordon turns green and rips shirt off, but keeps pants.
A knob of butter always sealin' the deal.
Just cooked this following his method. Didnt have a knife sharp enough to cut the skin like that but still turned out great! Highlight of my week for sure.
Might be because the salmon hadn’t been scaled. Same thing happened to me today but it hadn’t been scaled so
The most "normal" comment ive ever found in Gordon's vidoes
Salmon normally pretty good but i tried with a branzino and it peeled off too. 🤷🏻♂️
You can sharpen your knife using a whetstone. Even a very cheap knife will become incredibly sharp. My cheapo CuisineArt chef's knife is just as sharp as my expensive Wa-Guyto thanks to a whetstone and easily gets through salmon skin.
If you skin the salmon, any decently sharp knife will cut it
This man is pure genius. He's mastered the art of blending flavor and texture. I never fail to learn something watching any of his shows, either about cooking or about myself. Just brilliant. ❤ I don't think we'll ever see his particular brand of genius again in life.
As if he were the first person in the world to cook a salmon. Nonsense.
The skin got stuck to the pan, I shook it, the fish ripped and I put it back in place and picked it up and it fell half on the pan, half on the stove top. I picked it up with my hands, it was hot so it dropped on the floor. Bone apple teeth (-.-)
LittleRich he is using a nonstick pan here sooooooooo
Crafty Coin that's why it's called non-stick !!!!!! ( from hells kitchen )
wax proof paper in the pan, touch of oil and you're almost guaranteed the skin won't come off
That made me laugh out loud until I cried!
Bring the salmon to room temp before you fire it. That definitely helps prevent sticking. I use carbon steel for all pan frying, but a non-stick is much easier for home cooking!
I like Gordon in these types of videos. He's always himself!
Music is a bit of a bad choice though
agreed, he really seems in his element when making these videos. Looks like it's really fun cooking with him when you're friends with him

Gordon Ramsay is everyone’s distant uncle/grandpa/even grandma/I love this man
I've tried other salmon recipes and this is the one with the best results. I really appreciate starting with the note about the heat of the pan, it stems my impatience.

YOU MY SIR, DESERVES A COOKIE!
Tommy Khoury I
I'm eating my dinner, which is salmon, while watching this. I am VERY aware of how much worse my cooking is than Gordon's cooking.
Come on... This dish is extremely easy to do. He just literally seasoned the salmon and throw it into the pan. Smashed some boiled potatoes and fry them a little, threw some butter in, then made a vegetable saute. It's as simple as it gets.
I've tried a lot of the recipes uploaded here, even though I'm a noob and they turned out pretty good (not bragging, just saying it's super easy to do and to follow, you don't have to be a chef). Besides, I've learned some stuff from these videos, and that allowed me to explore even further with the food (add ingredients, switch things around between recipes, combine them...)
Marius Gabriel Lupu so true. Cooking is about prep, temperature, and time for new cooks. Once you understand that the rest is easy. I've been cooking restaurant quality food for decades. My friends and family love my cooking. As long as your not doing French pasties cooking a delicious meal is not difficult.
Fret not, your salmon was probably so much healthier.

This dish looks sooo good. Will be trying. thx 4 share
That's really awesome, can't wait to try this recipe :)
* burns the house down because put too much olive oil
Pouria Aryan how’d it come out ?
Pouria Aryan - A few tips... (1) for the succotash, make sure you cut the veg to roughly the same size as the corn kernels, so everything cooks evenly. (2) blanch the greens first, and save the water; you can then boil the potatoes in it, which will help with the smashing. (3) for the salmon, be sure to follow exactly what Ramsay does, and don’t baste until you’ve colored the flesh side. The skin will stay crispy, even when you finish it with lemon juice at the end. Enjoy! 👍🏾
This guy should has his own cooking show!!
I have been cooking salmon for years and did not realize how that little trick of slicing into the meat before cooking could really help bring in more flavor in the fish and lessen my cooking time! How helpful!
Love everything about the way he cooks!
This man should do every commercial. Ever. Everyone will buy everything.
You're not buying the new fleshlight? You donkey!
@@Deimus333 I legit just woke up my neighbours laughing to þis 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I used this recipe to serve a family of 7 and it turned out great! My only change would have been to cook the potatoes a little longer and give them a little more room on the skillet. I wouldn’t skimp on the lemon aioli either! It just takes a little mayonnaise and lemon!
How did you manage that? Did you cook the 7 salmon fillets / steaks in batches? Just asking because I think the most you could chance is 3 in a large frying pan / skillet? Forgive a dumb question, as I'm no good at cooking for more than 2 - unless it involves putting a big pie in the oven...

Crispy Salmon
Ingredients:
Wild caught Atlantic Salmon Filet
Garlic 2 cloves
Fresh thyme about 2 sprouts
Olive Oil 1 tbsp
About 1 tbsp Unsalted butter
Cajun Seasoning
Salt
Pepper
Cooking Instructions:
Allow Salmon to reach room temperature, make sure the filet is scaled and then cut through the skin about 1/3 of the way through the filet about ¼ of an inch apart. Season with salt, pepper and Cajun seasoning making sure to get inside of the cuts you have made. Season both sides and mop up the remaining seasoning with the sides of the filet.
Heat a medium size frying pan until very hot and add 1 tbsp olive oil. Lay the filet skin side down (laying away from yourself to prevent oil splashing on you) allow to cook until the salmon cooks about 2/3 of the way through and flip. Allow to cook for another minute while adding the butter, garlic cloves and thyme to the pan. Flip the salmon back to the skin side and turn the heat to low. Allow to cook for another 6 to 7 minutes at the lowest setting.
Succotash
Ingredients:
½ cup yellow bell pepper cubed
½ cup green bell pepper cubed
½ cup red bell pepper cubed
1/3 cup yellow squash cubed
1/3 cup zucchini squash cubed
1 cup corn
½ red onion diced
1 shallot diced
3 chutes spring onion chopped
1 fresh coriander leaf finely chopped (you can sub Italian parsley if you don’t like coriander)
1 Jalapeno diced (you can leave out if you don’t want the heat)
1 tbsp olive oil
Cooking Instructions:
In a hot pan add 1 tbsp olive oil to a frying pan and add red onions, sauté lightly and sprinkle Cajun seasoning (just a pinch). Add in the shallots and corn lightly toasting the corn. Add in the bell peppers and squash and allow to cook for 5 to 6 mins on medium heat stirring occasionally. Add in the spring onions, jalapeno and coriander. Allow to cook for another 2 to 3 minutes stirring occasionally.
Lemon Aioli
Ingredients:
2 large eggs, at room temperature
2 teaspoons vinegar
1 cup light olive oil
A pinch of good quality fine grain salt
½ lemon squeezed
A pinch of dill seasoning
Cooking Instructions:
In a large bowl add 2 egg yolks, vinegar. Slowly add oil (a few drops at a time) until it starts to thicken. Slowly pour in the oil while whisking briskly until all of the oil is used. Add a pinch of salt and mix in. Squeeze the ½ lemon and stir until evenly mixed. Add in the dill seasoning and mix well.
potato mash
6 small red potatoes per portion
1 tbsp olive oil
Salt
Butter
Boil potatoes until tender (about 20 mins). Allow them to cool so that you can handle them comfortably. Lay them on a flat surface and smash them with your hand. In a hot pan add olive oil and allow it to become hot. Add in the smashed potatoes lightly crisping each side. Add in the butter and salt for flavor.
this is what I ended up doing.
