A huge thanks to Tyler for constantly helping us out with videos. You should check out his channel here: / @tjacksurvival - Věda a technologie
OK i was very impressed that it could split that log! Seems to be a right sweet bit of kit, thanks for taking the time to make yet another quality overview video, Cheers and best wishes
great video. i plan on ordering it soon. today i am awaiting the arrival from the knife connection via usps of my 1st survival blade, my new esee 5 black plain blade with custom black G10 scales and sheath. from many vidos out there plus their unconditional warranty, i have decided to go with esee knives first. thinking about collecting all their blades. again great video and great field test
Just ordered my ESEE 6 from the good folks up in Idaho Falls. Can't wait to try it out. The area you filmed in reminds of an area I've been to near Utah Lake with the beautiful mountains in the background. Thanks for the video!
LOL, ya it was at Utah lake by the marina.
Great video...very well done! I thought I was watching a TV survival show! Tough knife.
Nice video. I own the original RAT 4 and can confirm that it is a bad ass knife. I've had it for several years and baton with it often. It's very tough and remains a great buy.
i just bought this knife online cant wait to get it
I really really liked the editing on that one too... Must be more of Paul's mad skills!!!
I have two of those knives. They are fantastic.
Good knife and video, I like it!
I really enjoy your video's you make, and I found a knife I'm quite fond of, yet very few video's on it, its the Ontario T.F.I., all I did was put a convex grind on it, and bingo, a great bushcraft/survival knife, yes bushcraft, hope you can test one out, your way.
I noticed when splitting the log the glass breaker on the back of the knife goes from being rounded to pointed . So your switching back and forth from the esee 5 to the esee 4 ?
or the 3
The whole entire video was ESEE 4
He has a landyard attached to the end of the knife
Thanks, and thanks!
Do some reviews on SOG they are amazing knives and hold up very well! I recommend the SOG seal pup
Nice knife !
Good vid guys
It is definitely full of a lot of flash, especially in the more recent ones. I look at his videos however as what you can do with a knife, fire starter, and a canteen kit. I probably learned how to do more with less from the army than any other place. I believe heavily in being prepared with the most effective equipment and the least amount of it to stay comfortable. We obviously used more gear than Bear, however we have been talking recently about doing more vids with less equipment.
Thanks much man. We need to go do some vids.
It worked, didn't it? The diameter of the log looked longer than the blade itself. Good job BladeHQ for getting the job done.
TJack it's you great video!
Hav U tested the ESEE 5 vrs. 6. I wish they would make a 1/4"-6 inches, with orange handles!
Thanks for the reply. I think it should have been mentioned how hard it is. The vid makes it look like it's easy. But it's a knife review vid and not a bow vid, so I understand. I just wanted to mention how hard it is to make a improvised wilderness bow.
You guys should do some videos focused on traditional slipjoints and the like... Please...
I just told him that last week and I am hoping if he visits that he will do a field test with me on something.
The serrated parts are serrated with little blades so they function like a non serrated blade too. Very smart design.
Si it doesn't matter if its serrated or not? Its like the same?
Serrations are for cutting fibers. So it just matters on what you are trying to cut.
+Juan Pedro Gonzalez Gonzalez Not the same when you go to try and sharpen it.
Perhaps test the Fallkniven f1?
Could the serrated part do fine cutting? Like feathering
@BladeHQ, I want to buy an ESEE 4, how much does the shipping to germany cost?
oh never mind Tyler is the person using the ESEE 4
Is this just by Utah lake?
On 3:50 the serrations are missing
Um, thanks. I actually like Beary Grylls as a person. The people he worked for hyped all of his stuff so don't judge him just by his videos. I like Les Stroud as well. That man knows his stuff. But I am the biggest fan of Ray Mears. If you haven't looked him up you should.
dude cool video but i wanna know how where or how did u get the yoyo fishing thing ?
I will let Tyler know you are interested and have him get back to you. Thanks for watching man.
thanks !!
No joke just eBay YoYo trap.
i love mine
You should bring Ben back to star in a field test one day O.o
@ Sage Ethan WT it was the same knife on the same afternoon in all of the shots except for the shots taken from the back country bug out video. But even then it was the same knife. I changed the string on the back of it is all. I've still got this knife in my BOB in the back of my car today.
I always wondered if those serrations were worth a shit.
what kind of backpack is that?
Maxpedition Falcon 2.
And at 3:56 the pomle is different
Nope, same knife. You can actually read ESEE 4 on it if you blow up the screen and look closely.
I thought Ben did most of the shots if you talk to him at CRKT tell him I got a lion steel because of him
Insparation dat guy
Might help to carry a small hatchet and save your blade for what it was designed to do. It seems everyone wants to cut down a tree with a knife........
I use a hatchet or an Ontario Machete when I go into the back country. This can't always be done if you are at work or in other places when you find the need of a sharp cutting tool. This video was intended to show that it can be done not that it should be done. Thanks!
Yeah :P (I know that was a rubbish reply but I can't think of what else to say :o )
just saying work on you spelling but good but I agree with you on the handle
I would not want a 4" blade with me when camping out as it is too short and I would not damage my handle on any knife I own while trying to baton wood.
O it sucked after I cut it I realized how bad it sucked so I discarded it and didn't have enough time to start another. That is why you don't see a bow in the video.
You are like a non-fake bear grylls. But better.
Kauf dir das Messer bei outdoormesser.de kostet da mit Scheide 120 Euro !
Honestly no difference. I have used this knife for I think 4 videos now and only sharpened it after I scraped it on the rock when gutting the squirrel in the back country bug out videos. I used a diamond stone and it cleaned right up in just a few minutes.
I know bear is an alright person, but he starts his adventure-thing with things you might not have, such as a knife or fire starter. I just don't think his program is all that useful.
Serrations have no business being on a bush knife or survival knife.
Normally I would agree but these are like small straight blades interspersed with serrations. I changed my mind after this product test.
Any serrations have no business in the woods, maybe in an urban or military environment, but not in the woods
You can get a non serrated version
I doubt he could make a good bow out of that piece of wood. He makes it out like it's easy. Some guy is going to walk around thinking he can make a bow out of anything. Fact is most wilderness improvised bows suck.
What kind of idiot uses a live tree as a knife stand?
the same that bashes his knife to spilt a giant log...
