  • Here I go over one of the first high quality fixed blades I ever purchased. Excellent value and it's made in the USA!

    I got the S30V version ESEE 4 recently and preferred over the ESSE 3 because of the 3/16" thickness, since I heard the S30V is more brittle than 1095 high carbon steel. I look forward to years of service. Great warranty and field tested by serious users.

      Good choice! The stainless ones are sweet. I much prefer the esee 4 over the esee 3 in any steel.

      Can't go wrong with ESEE! You know what they? A knife isn't yours until it's made you bleed lol

    I have: ESSE 4 w/ clip-point (flat G10)
    ESEE 4HM
    ESEE 4 contoured handle (micarta)
    ESEE 4 contoured handle (G10)
    ESEE 4 all black (flat micarta)
    ESEE 4 Dark Earth (flat micarta)
    ESEE 4 Desert sand (flat micarta)
    ESEE 4 S35VN (flat micarta)
    ESEE 4 S35VN (contoured G10)
    The Flat micarta scales for the all black ESEE 4 are pretty slippery when compared to the flat micarta scales on the Dark Earth and Sand colors. The contoured scales (bit worse with the G10) create hot spots if you’re doing heavy use with the knife (I baton wood x3 a week with an ESEE 4).
    In conclusion, in my experience the natural flat micarta scales (Dark Earth, Sand, S35VN) are superior to the rest.

      That's good to know. I usually go for the more earth color scales personally. I do love esee knives thanks for watching.

    Love my ESEE. I need a ESEE 4. I got a 6 and Laser Strike but i feel like an ESEE 4 would be perfect

    Love my Esse 4 , looking to pick up an Esse 3 or Izula II, which one though?

      @adods9824 Před 4 měsíci +1

      Izula. 3 is near as makes no difference a 4, just with a slimmer blade . .

    I love the ESEE4 orange G-10 version but the handle is too thin.

    I have a utica utk-n2 it's like a izula with a better edge. Also it has G10 handle scales.
    It's the only knife I've never seen a video on.
    I almost got a esse 4 but mora Garberg went on sale on Amazon for $55 with the multi-mount. I personally really like 14c28n.
    Another thing I think they put to much weight behind which is fast the fixed blade or the folder.
    One man killed a bear with a Buck110 they are two hand opening in a pouch on your belt.
    Really don't see quick draw being very important in reality.
    I train in Filipino martial arts we practice that stuff. But mainly it's so you know how to stop someone attacking you. Anyway way off topic.
    How does the edge hold up on the S35vn do you see a difference.
    I use my knives fishing in the woods so stainless would be a better choice for me.
    I was told esee keeps their blades rather soft for toughness.
    What's your take?

    • @Bladeunion5716
      @Bladeunion5716  Před rokem +1

      Nothing wrong with a mora, especially for the price! For defensive purposes, I mostly rely on a firearm so if I'm down to my knife things have gone horribly wrong and I probably need it immediately. For normal purposes though I agree speed may not be a factor.
      I like uncoated s35vn for a blade that may see some harder use in wet environments, or that may be used for food. I have used almost every steel on the market and while I prefer delta 3v. I usually end up with some sort of carbon steel blade in the summer and an s35vn or cpm154 in winter. I do feel esee blades are more on the tough side but they still hold an edge very well. You can't beat their warranty either! Thanks for watching.

    I hate mine. Handle is too small. It’s the same handle as an Esee 3. It’s also a flat grind which is horrible for bushcraft. The only Esee I don’t like.

    • @adods9824

      Yes, I don't know why they don't have a 6 handle on the 4. Those of us with XL/ XXL hands will have to get the extended 4 scales from TLC, at extra expense. Shld have a decent sized 6 handle to begin with. OR, offer a standard (short) 4 and a Large (6 handle) 4. Two options ... :-)
