How to replace Mr2 Fuel pump(1985)

- This is how I replaced my fuel pump on the MR2 we recently purchased , it took a bit longer than I thought. Well worth the effort. It should guide you through some of it and help you plan accordingly on parts you will need for the effort.
On a side note, I cut the two small hoses at the back of the fuel tank, because I could not properly remove them, that’s probably the biggest time consumer, two small hoses.

It wasn’t, the magic of TV. It’s hard, all you need is some time, patience, and a few curse words.
Btw, there’s a drain plug on bottom of the tank instead of using a transfer pump to get the fuel out.
87 and up have a drain plug :) I have a 86
yo u sure the lines to the chacaolcanister is fuel lines?
Anyone know what kind of wire the pump uses mine was ripped out which is probably why the fuel pump isn’t working but can’t find anything on jt

Not looking forward into doing this at all 😢bought a 1989 MR2 today but it doesn’t start it only cracks up. I am guessing it’s the fuel pump that needs to be replaced. Thought it was the battery after replacing it but nope
Yup, it’s terrible. My gf has a 89, and it’s probably going to need a fuel pump soon. Also not looking forward to it. Just make sure you buy all the parts you’ll need to replace. And a day or two. Good luck!

@@YouPressLEAVE What brand of fuel pump did you buy? I got a Wallbora for mine a few years back, it 250 pi i believe. No problems so far. Good luck.
Got an 87 that cranks all day but won’t start. This is the next step in my process and I am dreading it.
What a pain, make sure you get some new hoses, 35 year old hoses are a bit brittle. Good luck.
