I also had my daughter on my 21st birthday!!! An amazing birthday gift for both of us!!!❤. Love your home and so happy I can experience it and visit with you! Sending you heartfelt good wishes for your health!

Good morning Rols & Suzie, so glad to share your good news and that you are doing so well. So much to be grateful for. Love the red on the chimney and with the décor it is looking great, one of those large wreaths will look fabulous hanging in the centre. A beautiful pewter plate indeed. History shows! Enjoy working away, taking each day as it comes and making the best of it. It is much work getting the place back into living conditions. Take care, kind regards.
Thank you ❤️
I love the special things that you bring to this and that little stocking was adorable. The red is perfect.
Hello Terry, thank you, Glad you enjoyed it. Have a lovely week, Suzie and Rols
That silver plate would be beautiful on your mantle. Thank you for sharing all your work on your precious chateau. Have a beautiful Christmas surrounded with good health, joy and peace!
Thanks Clare. We haven't decided where the plate will end up but it will be displayed. Have a lovely week, Suzie and Rols
I have my grandmothers Christmas decorations. They are old enough that Mum probably put them on the tree when she was little. I remember putting them on the tree when I was a kid. I love them. So many memories. My tree also looks unique eclectic and vintage.
Hello Lea, thank you. Yes, Christmas is one of those times where memories come flooding back. Take care, Suzie xx
I love the red! 😍
Thanks Kylie, glad you like the red. Have a lovely week, Suzie and Rols
For some reason the red is the perfect colour there. I love it. So much history at your Chateau. The pewter plate is awesome the fact that it’s all beaten up makes it even more special 😁
Thanks Ivy, glad you are loving the red. If that plate could talk... Have a lovely week, Suzie and Rols
Nice to see you’re in good spirits, Susie. I think a lot of us have decorations we’ve collected over the years that bring back memories of raising our family, those fun Christmas times. I also have a large amount of decorations, even after sharing with my sons.
Hi Lucy, you can never have too many decorations 😁 Have a lovely week, Suzie and Rols
Love the rich history of your Chateau. So much still to learn. I bet the public library might have more. The more coats of red you put on the better it looks. It’s true pops of color make the space look interesting. Lots of love from Florida.
Thanks Angelica, we have a lot of research to do, it's just a question of finding the time. Glad you like the red. Have a lovely week, Suzie and Rols
Just came on this episode and absolutely love it! I’m so happy that the medicine is working and Suzie you look wonderful & healthy. Rols you are a wonderful carer and supporter. You also look so relieved. Happy for you both!
Thank you Kathy ❤️
I think the red is just right for the kitchen a lovely rich colour, very interesting about the plate . I understand Suzie about Christmas decorations when I'm dressing my tree I have happy memories of who has them given to me I have two little glass birds that were my Mother's and she passed away in 1968 . Love to all of you Xxxx
Hello Rosa, thank you. Yes, Christmas is often a time to look back and reminisce and decorations take me back to various times in my life. Take care, Suzie xx

G'day Loz, thank you, glad you're loving the red. Have a lovely week, Suzie and Rols
I love the red! It’s beautiful! My mother used rose red on stucco walls of the home I grew up in.
Thank you Naomi, glad you're loving the red and that it brought back some memories for you. Have a lovely week, Suzie and Rols
I've seen those side vents before, seems like a very old idea, clearly worked or there wouldn't be any at all. Great to see Susie looking great and the return of her zest is particularly good to see. Timing couldn't be better either, Christmas is coming.
Thank you, very kind. Seasons greetings, Suzie
What a great vlog! Knights Templar, beautiful red fireplace with hot air tubes, family history of the château and finding out we had babies in 1980! My son is 42 on December 19th, not a birthday present but the best Christmas present ever! You both appear more relaxed and Suzie you are looking radiant and it’s all down to your good news last week, no doubt. My tree is up and it too is full of memories collected over the years and anyway you can never have too many Christmas decorations!
Thanks Roz, glad you enjoyed it. 1980, a good year all round 😁 Take care, Suzie xx

Susie, I was also in hospital in September 1980 giving birth to my daughter Alix, when I was 21!
The platter certainly sounds very interesting, I hope you manage to find out more about it. The red looks magnificent in your kitchen. It'll look amazing when it's finished after all of the hard work you've both put into it x
Hello Zoe, there wasn't much on TV in January of 1980😂😂 Glad you like the red. Have a lovely weekend, Suzie xx

Looking lovely!! And a really interesting theory on the plate...get digging Rols, we want to find more treasure 😂 Thanks for making me cry Mum, and for revealing my age 😅😅

So glad at your health results Suzie.
Thank you Barbara, Take care, Suzie xx
Sliced thick and breaded, spiced and pan fried in butter are my favorite way to eat green tomatos. They are so delicious with any roasted meat or with a simple pasta with garlic and oil. Yum!
Sounds good Maureen, have a lovely week, Suzie and Rols
Green tomato pickles are lovely too. Maybe another time. The best decorations are those with memories. Best wishes.
Sounds good Shirley, we will be pickling some of them 😁 Have a lovely week, Suzie and Rols
A very cheery room, and the plate is really neat! Looking forward to more Christmas decorating!
Hi Cynthia, thank you. More Christmas decorations very soon🎄 Have a lovely week, Suzie and Rols
Nice choice with the red! bold! The plate is beautiful. Glad you are doing well Suzie! See you later in the week!
Thank you Melissa, glad you like the red. Have a lovely week, Suzie and Rols
The red is fantastic 👌. I to have many Christmas ornaments that represent family that have passed and I have an ornament for each of my children that were made when they were born. I also now have ornaments for the grandchildren. Some ornaments were on my parents tree when I was a kid which bring back so many memories as I place them on our tree. Thanks for sharing your story of one of your special ornaments. 🎄
Hi Sharon, thank you, glad you like the red. Yes, Christmas is one of those times when memories come flooding back. See you next time, Suzie xx
Love it that you have things that mean something to you...after all it's your home...love guys 😍😍😍😍😍
We love you too❤️❤️
One thing about your tin plate, it could be a mark, "un poinçon" which give the quality of the product, for example the proportion of lead in the tin. Every dish - by the way this plate is old, probably XVIII° century - had to have a hallmark. Nice red !
Thank you ☺
Ah mate that red really works with the stonework and oak and Tracy and I are very happy for Suzie's great news now onwards and upwards for you guys one life live it 🍺🤠👍
Cheers Budo, glad you like it. Keep up the good work at your place. Have a great week, Suzie and Rols
Hi Suzie and Rols, I think the Red looks perfect, Rols, I agree you should keep drilling holes, there must be so many interesting treasures left behind over the hundreds of years, Suzie if I didn't comment on your results last video I apologize my laptop died and navigating my IPad is frustrating, I am very happy for you, I can't wait to see all your decorations when you are done. Love from N.Y.
Hi Joni, thanks for watching. Glad you like the red. Have a lovely week, Suzie and Rols

Interesting to see the vents above the fireplace - technology from hundreds of years ago! I love the boldness of colour you choose to use (your plum doors and windows and the well, and now the red in the kitchen). That pewter plate is a nice discovery - maybe hang it on the wall or fireplace? Thanks for sharing!
Thank you, yes I think a lot of people are afraid of using colour. The good thing about paint is that you can just paint over it if it doesn't work 😂 Glad you enjoyed watching, take care, Suzie xx
Love the red, looks beautiful 😊
Hello Jacqueline thanks for watching. Glad you like the red. Have a lovely week, Suzie and Rols
Red goes well with the carpet, love your vlog. 😍
Hello Elsa, thank you for watching. Glad you like the red. Have a lovely week, Suzie and Rols
At first I was what, red, then I saw you only painting some parts and I agree, it is a good accent.
Interesting story about the platter and it would be great to hear if you find out any more history. Love your decorations Suzie and that little stocking is precious. So many memories and more to make. Awesome guys!
Thanks Peter, glad you enjoyed it. Have a lovely week, Suzie and Rols
Fried green tomatoes. Slice the tomatoes, roll in a beaten egg then dunk in cracker crumbs and fry add a little salt and pepper. Yummy That's the part about Christmas I love. The sentient in each decoration. I have a dog biscuit with pipe cleaners for antlers and 2 wiggly eyes my son made in kindergarten in 1982, I wasn't sure about the re at first but I think it looks very nice and will definitely make a statement to decorate around.
I coat mine with cornmeal. They are um, um good! I put the spices right in the cornmeal. Such a treat.
Thanks Lorele, we will try that, sounds delicious. Have a lovely week, Suzie and Rols
Oh my that's a very festive red.

42 years old ! Such a special memory ornament. I have my sons first christmas ornaments from 32 years ago and also managed to save quite a few of the ones he handmade at school. Treasures. Love the red !!
Thank you, glad you like the red. Yes, Christmas is often a time to look back and reminisce and decorations take me back to various times in my life. Take care, Suzie xx
Love the colour!
Thanks Jenny, glad you like it. Have a lovely week, Suzie and Rols
I wasn't expecting the red, it works. I have decorations going back to when I got my first job, I love getting them out each year. I'm going back to watch your last vlog, very pleased that Suzie has good news. I have often thought how lucky you were in France as they kept up normal healthcare. In the UK and Australia, they seemed to become one trick ponies.
Hello Meg, thank you. Glad you like the red. Yes, I am very fortunate to be covered by the french system. A friend in the UK was diagnosed with similar and the delays in her treatment were shocking. Have a lovely weekend, Suzie xx
An idea for your metal crypt door. Dependent upon the actual thickness of the wall you intend cutting through, which will entail some serious replacement support. Put another fully glazed door on the outside with the metal door on the inside face of the kitchen wall, even with a box frame if it needs to be further into the room. That way you will get maximum light coming in and the metal door will be better protected from the weather as it already has some rust. Also it might not matter which way it opens, either inward or outward if there is sufficient space and by having two doors will act as double glazing especially as a metal door on its own will conduct cold more readily. Regardless whatever you do I am sure you will bling it back to life!
Hello, thank you for watching and for your idea. We haven't decided on the final place for the door yet but we will be considering all the practical issues that will arise. Best wishes to you, Suzie and Rols 🎄
I LOVE the red ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you, glad you're loving the red. Have a lovely week, Suzie and Rols
Love the red. Really cheers the kitchen up.

I love the red accents and the decorations, like Suzie I have some from my children's first Christmas and pieces picked up along the way - special each and everyone - I will say that Suzie makes me look good, but I don't bring all the crates down. Did I hear you right, saying that absolutely beautiful fire place was 'yours' 😂
Hello Claire, yes we brought the logburner with us from UK
I always watch your vlogs and just love the mix of history and all your plans, I am immensely glad you have good news on the test results so
a very happy christmas this year for you, perhaps a little christmas singing too :)
Hello Mari, thank you for watching, glad you are enjoying our vlogs. I'll have a word with Rols 😂 Have a lovely weekend, Suzie xx
Love the red....Great vlog 👍
Thank you Linda, glad you are loving the red ❤️ Take care, Suzie xx
I love Christmas ornaments too! I can fill 10 , 2m high trees with them. Trying not to buy anymore but can’t resist. A few years back I handmade over 70 different decorations in felt and other materials. They are very special to me. I still have a few of the first ever baubles I bought 49 years agoo. They where on my pink and white christmas tree last year. Still don’t know what the tree will look this year! Going to have to make a dissicion very soon! Maybe my glass animal and cat 🦁🐯🦊🐓🦢🐿🦔🎄baubles again as the youngest granddaughter is into animals at the moment?
Hi Nicole, thanks for watching. Yes, you can never have too many Christmas decorations 🎄😁 I vote for the glass animals 🦔 Take care, Suzie xx
Don't clean it, Susie!! Taking off the patina can make it worthless, even if it's that old!
Thank you for watching. It isn't that valuable and I only gave it a light clean.
I love the red, really livens up the place. As for the tomatoes I have green ones ripening all over my house as I'm not a fan of chutney.
Thank you Fran, glad you're loving the red. Have a lovely week, Suzie and Rols
So glad for you and test results. Seeing you sitting by the fireside on the chair with your furry friend and the decorated Christmas tree behind you - such a pleasant picture! Yes. You shocked me with that red color but now that I see it dry I see why you chose it. It is your home and your color choices are what make it even more YOUR home. Blessings.
Thank you Alicia, glad you like the red. Have a lovely week, Suzie and Rols
My view is its your house do as choose..love it all

Hi guys
I just saw your latest vlog...Rols mentioned my coffee ☕ was for a treat ...I would just like to clarify my thoughts...this is a gift and as such do with it as you see fit.. I just say treat yourself as I don't want you to feel you need to justify how you use the gift....keep well and continue the great content..love you guys 😍
@@batteredbaconThanks Alexa, much appreciated. We love you too ❤❤
Even if the true color were the bright red and you enjoy it that is all that matters. It is your home. And, its right in time for the Christmas season to begin its jolly. Red is a color that goes well with your chickens in the kitchen too. Bah Humbug to those that want their taste to be your taste! Part of the joy of visiting others is how different our homes are. How boring it would be if everyone had the same taste in everything.
Hi Nanci, thanks for watching. Glad you like the red. We were just preempting, it tends to stop most of the "I wouldn't have used that colour...." comments coming through😂 Have a lovely week, Suzie and Rols
I like the red👍👍. I am intrigued by the plate and the history. What stories your walls could tell!
Thanks Melina, glad you like the red. If that plate could talk... Have a lovely week, Suzie and Rols
I love color but not sure that red, compliments the brick.
Thank you for watching. Seasons greetings, Suzie and Rols 🎄
Looking forward to see all your Christmas ornaments Susie. That's a lot of green tomatoes- would love if you could share your chutney recipe.
That was sweet - the very special little stocking. We had ours just less than a year apart.
Thank you, I think Rols is going to add the chutney into the vlog. It's funny how 42 years can seem like just yesterday 😁 Seasons greetings, Suzie xx
Thank you Suzie.
I like the red.
Thanks Rochelle, glad you like the red. Have a lovely week, Suzie and Rols
Some of my ancestors were “Filles du Roi”, which means “Daughters of the King”. The king being Louis the 14th. They were not literal daughters of King Louis, however. He gave these young women dowry’s and sent them to Nouvelle France to populate the colony. And yes, sometimes Roi, or Roy means king. 😊
Hello Tracey, thank you for watching and for sharing your story, fascinating. Seasons greetings to you, Suzie and Rols 🎄
Sending you both some positive light healing energy frequency and vibration with love room looks wonderful love and light 👍🫶☀️✨
Hello Rick, thank you for watching and for your positive thoughts. Have a lovely week, Suzie xx
🏰🏰
I love red! It looks beautiful where you've used it. When we moved into our home I scoured the attic and found some treasures. Mine are not nearly as old as yours for I live in the USA and our country only came into official existence in 1776. But the man who built the home, whose daughter sold it to us, was in the US Army during World War II and I found 2 metal military basins that are dated 1942 and a military issued wool blanket among other things. I'm with Susie regarding sentimental ornaments. I have a reindeer made of clothes pins (with 1 eye left on it) that my eldest daughter made in kindergarten in 1980. She passed away unexpectedly in 2012 so I really treasure that among many ornaments. I'm very sentimental and get emotional as I decorate my tree. Unfortunately I've not put up a Christmas tree since our daughter died. It's still too difficult. Your home is looking lovely.
A small tree with your most special memory ornaments could be a tribute to your daughter and in a way have her presence with you during the holidays.
Hello Linda. I'm sorry to hear about your daughter, Christmas can be a very difficult time for some. I will think of you and your family as I light my candles tonight. Take care, Suzie xx
with my green tomatoes at the end of the season i made green tomato cake and surprisingly it was very good. I am sure you could find a recipe online.
Thank you, i've not heard of that before, i'll definitely take a look. Take care, Suzie xx
Variety is the spice of life. It’d be a boring old world I’d we all did the same thing! 🤷♀️😉
Thank you Ina, quite right. Have a lovely week, Suzie and Rols
I’ve heard, shouldn’t clean pewter, it removes the patina
Or anything really old.
