Do it your way guys .. everyone has their own style & taste but at the end of the day , its your home & most importantly , you are being respectful to the building & its history ..😊 I think the tiles will be lovely & quirky ✌
Sir… when you realized, by accident, but the paint came up when you pulled up the tape, you tried it on a larger spot and it worked. Also, what a brilliant idea to add the gray duct tape at the end of the yellow duct tape and tried to pull it all up at once. From what I could see, the duct tape worked. Please try not to be concerned about those who make unkind comments. All that matters is that it works. I was wondering, though, would it help a little better if you spread or sprayed some of that stuff, you originally put down on the floor, maybe a light coating, then put the tape on top? Would that help the red paint come up a little better? Your garden looks beautiful with all the flowering, and I agree with gold that plum color is really pretty. This is your home, not ours, so please try to ignore those comments that tell you what you’re doing wrong or how you should do this or should do that. Yes, there are some very good helpful comments, hopefully they outweigh negative.
Thank you so much. Not sure if the tape would stick with the cleaner on it, but we will go over the floor after with it, to get off any residual stuff. Thank you for watching and caring 🤗
you’ve discovered an easy way to remove paint from your floor, to consider sandblasting is crazy. The mess would be horrendous. A brand new floor would not complement the citadel. Once it’s done and the room is finished the critics will see the final vision. A little patience and elbow grease is all that was needed. Your an inspiration to all citadel renovators 😊 and I love the front door ❤
Hello Suzie and Rols, the floor looks great, I like the patina look, it suits the room. You 2 call the shots, no one else. It’s your home, you 2 decide and I like your choices. Don’t let a few nasty comments get to you. The majority is with you and that counts . Love the door and of course a little bling, good for you Suzie. Love how the 2 of you respect the citadelle and the history of the place. Very much enjoyed watching. See you next time and take care. Best wishes for you and the fur babies, Tina 😘
As the song says “I did it my way” so continue your work at your own pace. The garden is looking beautiful I love the Poppies along the wall. Mine are ready to burst forth along with the peonies here in Dublin. We’re having all that rain too. ❤
Suzie, you've got the perfect voice for the Merch voice over!! It was so professional!! Good job!! I love, love, love the front door & the lovely plum color with the gold!! It's one of my favorite features of the Citadelle, among many!! It's such a rich, luxurious color!! I would love to see it everywhere!! So, thanks for that, Suzie & Rols!! Tedious job, Rols, but you're getting there with the floor in the Rose Room!! Such patience & perseverance you have!! Bravo!! All the little ones are so happy just to be near you both!! Blessings & see you next time!! 🇺🇸
Nice job Rols on the floor and not so hard work than sanding , the floor is coming up well. I love the plum door💜 Typical doggies like to be just where you are encase they are missing out🤣 Loved watching Take care Suzie and Rols😘
I'm so pleased to see the beautiful rich colour back in the front door! It had looked like it suddenly faded after you painted it and I was sad to think it would need repainting, obviously it was just the dust (I clearly didn't think of that!). It's absolutely gorgeous!
The end result of your floor is amazing. Love it that you are trying to keep everything in tact keeping the history in place & honoring the history. I find that when others rip out the old and replace it with 'modern'..its like ripping out the guts and soul of the chateau. So Please keep doing what you feel is right for your home and your chateau!!!
Sir, your plan will give you the most satisfaction, and the best results! To maintain what is historic, or to give a space or place a sympathetic restoration should always be first and foremost. If and when it can be done, yes... of course. Make do and mend! Have you thought about waxing the floor to seal it? It will be just stunning no matter what. Thank you for sharing your process. Best to both of you from a warm and sunny Central California.
Love the colour of your front door and the shutters might look nice in that colour too,The stone floor looks great, garden looking good too take care Suzie and Rol's and see you both next time 💕🌼🤗
Hi Suzie & Rols. I think your taping to remove the paint is absolutely Brilliant! The best part to me is that it not only looks beautiful but it keeps the character of the Chateau. Not completely surprised because from following you since day one you have always come up with great solutions. Suzie too. The flowers & gardens are beautiful as well as keeping with the Uniqueness of the Chateau. BTW I Loved the plum and gold from the first time you painted the door. Hugs to all the puppers who are obviously happy and well loved. ❤❤❤
Hi Suzie and Rols, I think your masking tape has worked just fine, so many inventions happened by accident. It's working well, no chemicals, dust or anything else to hurt you. Brillant. To have it all come up at once would have been "too easy" as they say. The duct tape did help. You are not an idiot; I think it was a Brillant idea. Leaving all the wear and imperfections is what you want. I don't think the woman complaining about the purple door has been watching your channel that long. Purple / Plum is your color Suzie, and I wouldn't want it any other color. Rols is right Suzie you are always glamours. Love from N.Y. P.S. 20.00 Euro.
I loved your approach to stripping the painted floor with tape! No masks are needed and you can breathe! Even ripping off the tape would be fun for me! Even pulling weeds off the steps would be satisfying to me! That was sweet comment you gave Suzie at the end, Rols!
Take heart darlings , some here on CZcams are terrible for negativity, they have nothing else to do but put everyone down . Anyway , you are both doing fabulous, and that tape idea has really worked out . Good for you . Oh the front door color is beautiful and goes so well with the building, it does look fairytale like . Don't read those negative comments , jealousy is all these people have . Keep going and be your positive selves. X
What a great way to strip paint without caustic chemicals or dust! You must ignore all negative comments . If people can’t be uplifting and supportive, they have no business commenting at all. Your stripping method is working like a charm and your color choices are yours to make. The eggplant/plum and gold are unique to your home. It looks so rich! I love the poppies and other blooms around your property. You’re doing excellent work taking care of the chateau! ❤🌹🌺🌼
I like the looks of the floor. It fits the room and the Chateau's more rustic look. I've always thought of the Chateau as a working home not a castle. I would be comfortable in your home. I happen to like the plum color. It does make a Fairytale appearance.
I love the tiles and the tape seems to be doing a pretty good job. I'd like the really badly damaged tiles replaced, I think it would look better but looking forward to seeing the end product. Loved the way little Benji went and sat on the sheet by the door whilst the door was being oiled, the door looks sooo much better now xxx
I don’t read what people comment and rarely comment myself. I am happy just seeing what you get up to. As for the negative people, don’t they know, if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all. Sending you both my kindest regards xxx
I love the color of your door. I wouldn't mind that color on all your doors and shutters. I am just curious why don't you aren't doing something with your walls? Especially the kitchen. It would be so pleasant to have freshly painted walls.

You could have tried peel and stick wrapping/wall paper in larger sheets. In the U.S. they pop up in $1 discount stores now and then, but you can internet order cheaply also.
Your paint removal idea is inspired. I am wondering if peel and stick shelf paper would have a strong enough adhesive, it would be wider and even faster to put down. Dollar stores sell the stuff where I live. Leaving it on over night was a good idea as adhesives bond more strongly over time. By the way, I love your door colour. All the best of luck with your projects, cheers.
I have a industrial grade metal roof in Plum LOL You motivate me to get my projects done, I have matching to paint on my Side Door, got to get on that! I live on 5 acres in a Fairy tale 4 story cottage i the woods and I always have so much to do. But it is just me (healing my broken ribs) so things don't get done until years later. And being an Artist I have a Ton of projects LOL The tape is GREAT! lol Love it! Keep up the motivation Screw what some low life people Think!
There's some tata cakes about IGNORE THEM your doing a great job and to be honest a rather like the effect the tape is leaving you with. im assuming you might seal the floor? Just leave it like that. Door fabulous ❤❤
Hmmm a method less messy, less time consuming and less in cost? Who wouldn't give ut a try! Majes sense Rols! Not everything has to look shuny and new. Chateau have history and keeping it and its originality is a great thing to do. Also why spend more!?! Unles you have an unlimited amount of funds you do what you can to improve it! Renovating a Chateau is not easy on the back or the pocket! Keep it up Rols!
I love your front door. I’m glad to see it spruced up and the colour enhanced. I agree it is a fairytale tower! Don’t let the keyboard warriors and armchair critics get under your skin. That’s exactly what they want to do. Don’t give them airtime and you’re quite within your rights to delete them. It saves having to read such drivel! You are both doing a grand job in entertaining us and we love watching you and the dogs. I quite enjoyed your impersonation of a dog on the beautiful tiled floor 😋
Maybe an idea to try using those rolls of adhesive back shelving liners which would be much quicker than applying all those lines of tape? They are about 22 inches wide x 5 metres or 10 metres in length...ps I really like the door colour, but not so much on the garden well.
So pleased that I've caught this vlog on your technique for removing the grime and paint from the old tile floor! I'm starting a renovation on a small French farmhouse in the Loire next month and I've got a large room with old tomettes! I'll copy your technique! Looks great! Cheers!
Thanks Jill, we gave the floor a good clean prior to taping it up then used a paint roller to force it down, then it's just a question of waiting. Good luck with it
My kitchen cabinets are metal. Long ago I did a very bad paint job on them. The paint was peeling in spots, so I used wide cellophane packing tape to strip them. You know, the type of tape that sticks to itself when you’re trying to work with it? 🤓 Worked great for the most part. Very satisfying.
Hi guys, love your channel and the style of your videos. I look forward to seeing what you have been doing and the wonderful progress you have made each and every week. I especially love how you are willing to give anything a go, being both respectful to the building and mindful of the budget! I can never understand the objective of the negative Nancy’s. I bet none of them have ever tackled anything like the size of your project or have an unlimited budget! It’s so disappointing to hear that you have to almost justify what you’re doing when its YOUR home and YOUR money!! Ignore the keyboard warriors and keep up the amazing work. Much love, from Melbourne, Australia ❤
Love you guys when you are happy try to not pay attention to others who maybe do not have a cool home that they love and best yet, have Love in there life's like you two do. cheers
Its amazing what one can use to strip back years of grime. My other thought was using the steamer prior to giving it a extra sanding. or wire brushing . You will have finished it by now but I thought you also had some other areas with the painted hallway .
Thank you Jeanette, good thought, unfortunately we did try that but it didn't make any difference. Thanks for watching, see you next time, Suzie and Rols xx
What you both do is just fine. Don't listen to the na sayers. I wish I could get duct tape so cheap. My grandkids go through it like I grow it. Lol. Love watching you two.
I love your doorway💜. ********** Is it possible to get a download or print of your doorway with or without the fall-colored leaves? It's fabulous! I would love to frame it for my wall. It is a piece of history that has stood the test of time, and it makes me happy to see it. Your color choice is spot on, too. Thanks!
Saving time and not having to use caustic chemicals is why your tape experiment is a win - win,
Saving time would have been to use peel and stick paper in large sheets.
Do it your way guys .. everyone has their own style & taste but at the end of the day , its your home & most importantly , you are being respectful to the building & its history ..😊 I think the tiles will be lovely & quirky ✌

The floor is looking great, I like the bits of red in it.
I was going to say it looks regal!! Then suzie said it. Like minds..🙂

Thank you so much Machelle, hope you enjoy them 🤗 ♥ xxx
What you both do is just fine. Don't listen to the na sayers. I wish I could get duct tape so cheap. My grandkids go through it like I grow it. Lol.
Love watching you two.
I like the way you think. Do wwhat you both want. I love the floot.
Thanks!
Oh, thank you Yvette, that's a lovely idea, we will see if we can sort out a digital download ♥
