When people say "I want him to put his own spin on the Han Solo character", No. This isn't a reboot of the character, it is the same character. It wouldn't make any sense for him to put his own spin on it, he needs to convincingly pull off a performance which shouts "Han Solo" to the audience, without it looking like he is just doing an impression of Harrison Ford. It won't be easy

Depends on how much you care about continuity. I'd rather watch a good movie that kind of messes up with continuity than watch a bad movie that connects seamlessly with the previous movies. Like how x-men movies compared to marvel ones. For me, I don't care if he's really that good. I don't see how he can put a great spin on him though since Han is just such a simplistic character.
The one thing I don't get is why they want to release Infinity War and then Han Solo a few weeks later. Shouldn't they spread out big movies more?
That's why I felt having Star Wars in December was a great move. It kept it away from encroaching on Marvel movies.

There's no way the Han Solo film will come out in May 2018, that'll probably get moved to December which is what they did with The Last Jedi after the Force Awakens got released
Hopefully, plus Infinity War is out like weeks before it so Disney is really just fucking themselves

I'm not the least bit excited for this movie. We don't need a Han Solo movie, his character has been used on screen enough. They could turn this movie into a book and that'd be 100% A-OK with me but I do not want to see Han on screen ever again.

I don't want any back stories. NONE! Unless this is the story of a race or planet unrelated to any characters we currently know but maybe pertaining to an event in the franchise history. Giving Obi-Wan a back story? WHY!? Giving Han Solo a back story? Ruin the character's facade. Boba Fett? Dude that guy already has a Canon backstory in star wars the clone wars animated series. (Dispute me on the series canonisty, it's canon). Yoda? No!? Call me a cynic but stop beating dead horses.
I completely agree. Tell a story with new characters, feature cameos from beloved characters of you wish, but keep the focus on the new characters.
I think you forgot about how Boba's backstory was in Episode II, not the Clone Wars show

To those that think an Obi-Wan film will be boring and will be of him just sitting and doing nothing. The movie can be about Obi-Wan's guilt, sorrow and pain from Anakin's turn. We could see Ewan McGregor play the transformation of Obi-Wan becoming Ben too. This story can be personal and based on emotions instead of action. This IS the film we deserve.

I just can't see them releasing Solo^2 next to Infinity War in the same month. It will likely be delayed so that we have our December film. 2020 is our best chance for the Ben Kenobi film.
Only spin offs I would like to see are Obi- Wan, Boba Fett and maybe The Old Republic.

A Palpatine backstory is what I'd be most interested in, with the actor mentored by McDiarmid. Thoroughly dark, Machiavellian, extremely intelligent. My rare enjoyment from the prequels, his was the best story. And everything, apart from the cartoony parts with Yoda, and the flat "we shall have peace" line, was perfect. Cheers.
I don't think they're going to go for a Obi Wan Solo film, because in the Star Wars Rebels series they're doing Darth Maul vs Obi Wan, which is canon. So yeah...that may or may not suck...who knows...I mean if you're from the future you do know.

I am optimistic... I think we will see him talk about shooting first, some proper gambling, the Falcon and some Chewy, it should be a lot of fun.
I can imagine them revealing something dramatic at the end of The Last Jedi and then announcing that a secret December 2018 film will explore the backstory behind that reveal.
I THOUGHT they gave up the christmas slot every OTHER year to Avatar sequels. They agreed to each get a christmas every other year so they didn't fight each other.

I have this feeling the Han Solo movie is going to follow the script of Smokey and The Bandit. He has to make the Kessel Run to pick up something illegal in a certain amount of time. To make it, he acquires the Millennium Falcon. And, on the way he picks up someone escaping a wedding named Chewbacca.

I wanna see either a mace windu type story like maybe he survived and had a son or something and show what he was doing after his supposed death and maybe he's training kids and stuff to be Jedi or gray Jedi or something. It's funny you say that about obi-wan losing his light saber, because in the new Canon comic about him on tatooine. and he refused to use his light saber and stays out of conflict to not give away the fact he's a Jedi. so the whole movie could be him watching over look and then at the end, he finally has to pull out his light saber for some reason

I think the Han movie is secretly a two-parter, already allotted both the May and Xmas release dates. I'm probably gonna be disappointed, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if they were filming two Han films back-to-back.
