As I sit here and listen to John ...... I just realized my 2 favorite singers have the same initials J D John Denver and Judith Durham ... I just can not believe how these 2 singers have touched my life ... and John I have followed since 1970 and he is greatly missed .... yes greatly missed ... you were a wonderful singer with songs that have a lot of meaning... John Denver was such a great entertainer, singer, and man....conservationist, environmentalist, pacificist, and more. His songs had depth, emotion, insight....things you just don't see in music today. I think his "I want to live" version is one of his best. Where have good men, good "country boys" like John Denver with conscience and integrity gone? They certainly can't be found in government and among CEO's of banks and such! I started at age 19 with Audubon volunteering and teaching kids and did fairs.. Your mom must have had a wonderful dedication, good pick on the music ;)
My wife is from Baguio City ainelorr - my first time visiting there February/March 1994, I felt (and knew) I was "born again on my 37th year" and never looked back. I replay John Denver's songs in my mind each and every time I visit there (4 times already).

Yes, I too am a Colorado guy (Estes Park) and was fortunate to see JD perform twice. The best part was always when the band went off stage and it was just him and the guitar. This is where he could really shine through. He was not only an excellent composer/singer, but a great guitarist (seldom mentioned!). I'm fond of saying that his songs provided the soundtrack for our growing up in and around Rocky Mountain National Park. Each summer my brother, Brad Fitch, does several JD tribute concerts.

I saw him in 1975 at the Nassau Co Liseum backed by a full orchestra-he did this and many other of his older songs and a lot from Back Home Again which had just been released-almost 35 years later and I still remember it vividly !
That guitar was my inspiration to get my own Guild 12-string, and to learn to play this very song. some 40 years later, it remains one of my band's most popular tunes. I was privilaged to see John in Aberdeen Scotland a few years ago. It was magical. I was going to take a rose to give to him, but I thought I'd be too far back in the arena to give it to him. I was only 10 rows from the front. I will always feel guilty for not buying that rose.
I was there Gina....its a small world. I was born and raised in Aberdeen, Scotland. He truly was magical and his sweet voice resonated ...around that arena ...a sound I will never forget as long as I live. I loved him and miss him still. You hear this song and just wonder what the purpose of John being taken from us too soon was. He was and still is an American Treasure and should be recognized as such.

Liseum backed by a full orchestra-he did this and many other of his older songs and a lot from Back Home Again which had just been released-almost 35 years later and I still remember it vividly !
Was lucky enough to see him live @ Wembly & Southampton.

I was privilaged to see John in Aberdeen Scotland a few years ago. It was magical. I was going to take a rose to give to him, but I thought I'd be too far back in the arena to give it to him. I was only 10 rows from the front. I will always feel guilty for not buying that rose.
I was there Gina....its a small world. I was born and raised in Aberdeen, Scotland. He truly was magical and his sweet voice resonated ...around that arena ...a sound I will never forget as long as I live. I loved him and miss him still. Now I listen to my records and dvd's and remember. When I pass he is one of the first I intend looking up and if he'll oblige i'll ask him to sing Boy from the County. One of my favourites....
