It's like he's speaking to us now! This song is just as important now as it was when he sang it. He was a blessing to the world!
A song for the love of all children everywhere! Please continue to support Denver music as if he were here❤
Just one guy, one guitar, one voice. . . and he's holding the entire crowd enthralled. Not many performers in my lifetime could do that.
There will never be a performer that would even come close to John. He had perfect pitch. He was a genius. He had
such a kind heart, wanting to help the needy and the wildlife and so much more. I have loved his music from the beginning of his career. I miss you JD.
I AGREE..HIS MUSIC CAREER IS ENVIABLE & WORTH EMULATING..HOWEVER..JUST LIKE ANYBODY WHO HAS FLAWS..HE IS NOT SUCCESSFUL IN LOVE DEPARTMENT..HIS FAMILY LIFE & LOVE CHOICES HE MADE WERE AT MOST TIMES..UNFORTUNATE...BUT GOD BLESS HIM..R.I.P.
@@tonynavaro4488 John was a person of brilliant heights and crushing lows, and yes, he had his flaws. He could almost be called a saint, as well. If he and Annie had only had an open relationship, things probably would have turned out fine, instead of jealousy and divorce. But they still had a good life there in the Rockies, paradise for a fleeting moment in time.
@@kentclark6420 Yes.
All people will die..unfortunately.
@Blueiiied Lady , I find your words 13 years after you wrote them , but I thank you for them ; they are beautiful and right on point . I feel the very same way . I’m 84 years old , and JD is still my hero . George Lewis, Sr.
I would love to see other performers sing and compose like him.
The sound that one man, one voice, one guitar can make
Indeed
Are we there?
On this planet together
Many soloists today need a full orchestra to sound good--John only needed his guitar. You are singing with the Angels now, John. Rest in Peace.
He was an angel.
Been listening o Denver since 1974. Have never tired of listening to his songs over and over.
John, we need you and your songs now, more than ever.
True.
5 years ago and is still true
Agreed...
How can someone be so wonderful?! He brings me to tears with his beautiful songs and voice every time. God we miss you John Denver💞.
Hello 👋 Kathleen. How are you doing? Hope you are fine. I'm Zack Hudson and am from Denver Colorado. Where are you from? You seem like a real country girl
Goosebumps EVERY time I hear this magnificent song. God I miss this legend.
One of the most beautiful songs ever by a man we all miss! :-)
Just John and his Old Guitar, perfection, I think this is my favourite song of his and one of the most beautiful ever written, my God do we need to find a better way now in these crazy times of 2020
Still tears for him..can't understand why...something in all his songs touches the soul, miss him alot.
I'M IN TEARS TOO MATE !!
Hola jn / wd , I am not going to put much down about John Denver, other than to support your opinion 100% , you said everything of John in a most eloquent way, & I applaud you for your words, he was just a lovely, peaceful, & highly talented individuals, & I am proud to have associated with him, if only in a minor way . RIP our friend.
I knew a few of his band guys, they said he was absolutely a joy to work for!
Indimenticabile, una grave perdita
I don’t know why, but I can’t hear this song without tears coming!
There will never be another like him. Nobody else could ever be that good.
Cleanest and in tune live voice ever
Hot & very humid August night in Japan.... As soon as I can, I am going to post the entire boat ride of him coming across the lake before the concert. It lasted about 15 minutes
It's been 12 years. Can we see it now?
@@ladonnadavis8710 13 yrs and still waiting
Yes would love to see this anyone know where it is?
Can we please see it ?
Hello, I would love to watch it in spite of the years. My regards @JohnDenver
One of a kind in every way. His talent, genius, heart, vision will never be replicated. A legend.
Hello 👋 Cheryl. How are you doing? Hope you are fine.
John Denver was like an ambassador of peace travelling to all different countries and sharing his outlook on life and expressing the loveliness of life. He saw importance in all living things, people, animals, nature and so eloquently put it to words and song. If only the leaders of countries bent on war and attacking each other could grasp how precious life is and appreciate it like John did, things would change but the change has to start from within ones heart. I'm glad John got to go all over the world and brightening up people in other countries with his music and just being himself!!! :-) :-) :-)
Thank you Tom Huz for your thoughtful reply. I can tell you like him too. John Denver just had a special way about him. You have a great day Tom! :-)~ Jane
Yes now these so called selfish singers only sing what will sell them records nothing much with any meaning and hardly ever stand up for anything with any substance Sure miss John everyday
Well said! I just made a eulogy- type comment on another John Denver video, but not as eloquent.
Listen to that 12 string ring !! Bravo John , you were beyond words ! ❤️😢
This is simply magnificent! We miss you John 😢
What a truly beautiful song. He was so under appreciated. A great loss for planet Earth. 🌎
Omg he’s as beautiful as his voice! Love you John ❤️
One of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. RIP John Denver, great singer and composer. 🙏
john denver is kickass. he is so musical. i absolutly love his work and you really can hear his soul in his songs.
Been my all time favorite since 1972 (when I first started to listen to his fabulous albums). Miss him dearly.
He may be back because the computer generated universe may be repeating
Gorgeous song, beautiful lyrics. I don't think I have ever heard him sound as good as he did in this concert and always preferred him when it was just him and his guitar.
My preference too. There was something so pure about John's voice and just his acoustic guitar.
Best version ever!
This wonderfull song touch my heart in the deep, like mostly songs he write... I listen you wen I was a teenager and I never stop to listen your songs... I miss you JD !
The music world still misses such a great talent and wonderful person ❤️
These lyrics still mean as much now as they did the first time I heard it all those years ago.
BEAUTIFUL AUNTY BETH !! XO
This man just exuded musical talent and songwriting. I can never get enough of listening to him or his music. And the lyrics had so much meaning. It's just a shame that he left us so early, but he left behind a legacy of songs that will keep him alive within us.
Miss him so much. I am crying. Such a beautiful soul .
Conscious light (in all forms) lives forever and JD created so very much.
There are many of us that relate to the winter of questions and doubt he speaks about in the opening verse. I think that's why my eyes always tear up with the idea that the way of children and their innocence needs to be protected preserved in the world and within ourselves. The world can slowly suck the beautiful innocence of childhood out of all of us if we let it. My little guy keeps me in the game.
Can't help crying. Every. Single. Time.
Magnificent men, words and music... God bless him!
❤stunning as always! How is it possible to miss someone who has been dead so long... But whose spirit is still alive and well within the music and melodies? I wasn't even around in his 1970s heyday... But goodness what an amazing talented soul. Imperfect as we all are but what gifts he shared! ❤ rest in peace John and thank you always.
This song put my tear ducts into action.

The best I always end up crying
God bless John Denver, his family, and all of his fans
This Is not a song but a poem!!!
I come back to revisit this song, especially on this day, 9/11 to remember John and his prescient words (“and the towers fall around us”) and his sense of love and peace for all. I was blessed indeed to see him 16 times over the years. What an amazing human being he was, touching us with a voice and messages from heaven. Today especially, I pray for peace and understanding among all peoples and a love for Our planet and all the creatures here with us on Spaceship Earth. Peace.
You are so lucky to have seen him 16 times, but I did twice so can't complain, I love this man and his music and listen to him daily, his music soothes the soul and lifts the spirit
@@janewillis6052 Yes I was really blessed to see John so many times, each event a very special memory of a deep soul feeling of unity consciousness. I loved seeing him in person because when he sang he shared a vibration in his voice of unconditional love that was palpable and his lyrics were so deep they always touched my soul. I too listen to John everyday to help me achieve balance and to remember what is really important in life. I know that I can truly say that his “voice in my ear is like heaven to me”.
Strange I hadn't heard that in many many many years and I could sing it word for word in the beginning and it reminds me of my other half who passed away this year in Feb. he was an outdoors man through and through!! I miss him terribly each and everyday!!!
“Man - that orchestra sounds legit... oh wait, it’s just one dude with a 12-string guitar!” [mind... blown!]
Well said. 🙏
No autotune here💖
And man could we use this man now
I think John’s guitar often sounds much richer and fuller when he uses drop d tuning. This is one of my very favorites of his many wonderful songs.
The most beautiful song ever written ☺
How so wonderful, wish he was with us miss him.
One of my favorite songs - beautiful - I love his songs!
I love all of his work, but this is by far my favorite.
My god, at 1:56, did he just sing "The cities start to crumble and the towers fall around us", wow
He
Such a powerful message and absolutely beautiful song!!! By far my favorite JD song
John's music lifts my soul, he is so sorely missed by millions worldwide, while I was listening to this it made me think of Greta Thunberg, "the wisdom of the children", we really need more people like John to save the world, and never more so than now
A blessing from the past and hope for the future. Thanks John!!
i could hear this song one million times and it still would not be enough. in Oregon time PCT time change messing me uo at 1:30 am. hiked skinners butte to watch sunset 3 days ago. "THE SUN IS SLOWLY FADING AND ITS COLDER THAN THE SEA"
I listened to John Denver growing up. I had all of his albums & he's probably the primary reason I'm far far more country than rock lover, by far. Song that have a messages especially positive ones are always what has drawn me to music . Miss him and still wish he was around
the lyrics captured 'em all... your songs remain forever
I love John with just his guitar
such a powerful song, I love it
he gave away all the proceeds of this song to Unicef in the belief no child would go to sleep hungry
Thanks so much for sharing....he´ll always be missed so dearly.....
Awesome beautiful!. Flawless performance by the legend.
I wasn’t alive to appreciate him, but God I miss him
My heart still aches.
My 3 favorite songs of John Denver, Rhymes and Reasons, Fly Away and Looking for Space. For Baby and Bobbie and We Dont Live Here No More, 4th and 5th
Hola TJ, in my opinion you could not have uttered more appropriate words in respect of our friend John Denver. RIP The wonderful singer, musician , & song writer, there will never be another to match his capabilities. 😦
No one and I mean no one wrote a song like this man!!!
I love this song. The first time I heard it consciously was about ten years ago (2009) when the world was in the middle of a financial crisis and I thought he was writing about that event. Now, we are in the middle of the great Covid19 pandemic, and I realise he actually was predicting what we are now experiencing. It’s no longer in the future that the cities will start to crumble and the towers fall around us. It has begun.
I have already preordered this DVD boxed set. John will live forever b/c of CZcams and the Aspen celebration that will start in a few days, and MOST OF ALL HIS FANS PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE!!! Miss ya John. Shine down brightly on us...
Saw him in Toledo Ohio in 1983. This may very well be that tour he looks the same. Most amazing concert, one man with a guitar had 20,000 people.mesmerized.
I met Him!!! So Honored!!!😃😍😘🥰
John Denver is and will forever be the greatest songwriter that has graced this planet. All of his songs are filled with unconditional love. May the peace of all understanding be with those who listen, hear, and continue on in these teachings he has left behind. One Earth. Our Life. Take care.
Bob Dylan laughs at you with his greatest songwriter award in hand.
@@majortom4543 Not everyone loves the cynical, nasty stuff that was Dylan's stock in trade; likewise Lennon. Everyone worships him, but I think he hated everyone ( except for Yoko, Sean, and certainly, himself ).
one of the few men I would crawl on my hands and knees to shake his hand. if only I could. Love you JD x
I would too, together with the hands of Jim Croce, James Taylor and Mark Knopfler.
This song is so applicable to the younger generation now...If only they will listen ..
Amazing performance.
I'm from Brazil and I love the music of John Denver.
john+guitar+rhymesandreasons=perfection. sleep well Mr. You continue to inspire us xx
For me, his music is perfect for whenever I’m out and about in nature, particularly forest and mountains. ❤️
Think this my favorite John Denver song and performance a recording quality perfect
I met him in New York City.
I said to him “you’re the best in the world “
...and his reply........
@@paulineh4019 He just said Thank you
Listening to him is like reading poetry
amazing voice....just a man and his guitar..pure talent and dedication showcased...gone too soon..wish i had the chance to hear him in person
This was a solo acoustic Concert (in the rain) with John Denver performing in Japan, 1984. I have the complete box set of all 5 concerts. It is totally terrific if it is still available! Two of his children (Zachary and Anna Kate) were there with him and introduced to the audience. 💘👆🎉
True that. And in the middle of the concert, he sings a Japanese song Biwako shuko no uta. Not only he nails the song, but also his Japanese was so crisp and clean everyone in the audience was blown away by the performance. Oh I miss JD.
May I please ask, what is the name of this collection? I would like to search for it.
@@zillagrl24 I watched it live on TV in the summer of 1984 and I recorded it on VHS (and I lost it) Good luck with your search because I'd be interested too.
In the box set!!!
How poor did we become since he died.
Well Said.
Love John Denver, superman of music. Thanks for posting this.
John was a gift from God when he was called back home i lost a piece of my heart still listenening.
John sure could write some beautiful lyrics . I am torn between this and Poems, Prayers and Promises as Denvers ' best songs lyrically. Simply amazing ! ❤️😢
I miss him.
Such a beautiful and lovely song. One of his best.
I like this with just him and the guitar without the extra instruments on the album.
He sounds better on the remake, but nice to see him
John still my soul doctor who been feeding my soul with peace since from first time I heard him and going going and hope it not ending with my last breath..... Always love and kisses from my part dear Denver💞💕💕
That is a gorgeous 12-string, both in appearance, and sound....
A master doing what he did best!!
One of the best lyrics... Beautiful... 👫🌻💛
Thank you for sharing. How could he sing so beautifully with all that heat? Someone needed to point a fan his way! Will always miss John.
Such a beautiful voice which I miss so much
Johns music soothes me
John's best song in my opinion, and he was one of the greatest singer/songwriters of his time.
I miss that music and those days.
Proud of myself discovered Him And His Music by myself.. I may not born in times he was still living.. But Thank You CZcams.. HIS MUSIC IS MY FAVORITE OF ALL TIME.. I'm 16 from Phil.
Of all my “favorite” JD songs, this one tops my list since 1974 when I heard him sing it in concert
LOL that was my very first thought too! Sweat no/spit yes ;) (ah SUCH fond memories of of those fabulous concerts when I finally got down front). Thanks SO much for posting! Got tired of all the rerere-releases but I can see this is special. Now if only crisis stop happening I can't wait to order. Must 1st replace Harborlights-of all CD's to have destroyed. Was there, yup in the spray zone-and think it among his finest!
His concerts were pure magic. Oh how I miss them, & him!
There comes to the world such beauty and love.
Thankyou John Denver for
All the beauty and love that
You gave to this world.
May you sing to God and his band of Angels.
God bless your beautiful creation and thankyou for allowing the whole world to
To know the you that God Had sent,❤️
One of the best Denver´s songs. The lyrics are a gift from God.....
I believe this song has the best lyrics he ever wrote. Definitely inspired by God himself... What a gifted singer he was.......
Roger Araúz I may be mistaken, but I believe he thought they were his best lyrics. I'm not about to argue....
Roger Araúz "So you speak to me of sadness, and the coming of the winter" draws the listener in immediately. Simple, yet incredibly effective. Agree completely.
