- Hangar 9 Carbon Cub maiden flight and fatal crash. Fpv flying and different camera angles, real cockpit view. Engine stop working in the worst moment and I try to land in the paddock but the plane hit the fence.
I already order a new one but I think it will be electric. I make some changes in the cockpit and in the instrument panel. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
I flew with John, many times. We were bush pilots back in the 70's...he was always challenging himself. Once we crashed into a hanger trying to fly thru it, but he forgot to open the hangar door in the rear. He flew best while drunk,I'm guessing he was sober when he crashed. Great memories John.
This comment doesn't get enough love...LOL
Is that how he died, hitting the closed for?
This story is legendary 😂
Well my friend. That is rc aviation. Hitting the only fence post in a square mile radius.
Been there, done that.. lol.
total bad luck only a few more feet in altitude was needed,, damn post
Poor Captain John; never could decide where to land.
He was on the fence to the very end.
Play the Last Post
LOL, nailed it.
He was such a talented pilot that he was able to get to the crash site well before rescuers did. 💁♂️
what a dummy.
Very sad.
As fate would have it ...
fencing lessons were next, on his bucket list. 😉
May he rest in pieces.
🤣🤣🤣
Ahahahah!!! 😂😂😂😂
Capt John Stole died doing what he loved. He knew the risks and didn't back down, ever. Respect.
I feel like he had no choice to love it or not. Something tells me he was glued to the seat.
@@dillonshrop4563 Yes for sure
I flew Aeronca Champs with Capt. John Stole in Vietnam, 1969. At 10 years old Cappy was the youngest Wing Commander in Air Force history. I was his wing man. One night during a low altitude harassment sortie over Hanoi, Cappy exited his cockpit, climbed atop the wings, and fapped one off directly at Ho Chi Minh. A braver pilot never flew. RIP Cappy.
I served with Stole, Morocco Spring of '42. Only man to ever take on a ME-109 in a Carbon Cub...bravest SOB I ever met. God speed Captain, God speed.
I vos flying ze 109!
The only times I had the wonder of meeting John Stole he was always 'glued' to the airplane's seat expressing his love for aviation. Im sure he's having a great time in Heaven/ Hobby Store
He couldn't cheat death, but he cheated me! The bastard still owed me money for a huge bar tab! He will be missed.
The instrument panel in this Cub is better than my full scale Cessna 150 that I fly. Capt John has some great hair too! Very good video and entertaining...
Captain John kept flying until the very end - he didn’t even flinch!
True he didn't flinch but it appears the poor captain was ejected upon impact. Condolences to his beloved family and friends. Wish I could have flown with him!
Captain John had a few too many the night before. Poor bugger....
The best thing I've seen on youtube today.so funny.with the title and the picture I thought it was real.good job
I met capt. Stole during my Service, he was a former F-15 driver and a great guy ! Blue skies fella ! 😂😂😂
John was a great guy, he was my neighbor for 10 years and always a very quiet person. He kept to himself. R.I.P John we’re going to miss you.
He would always fly airplanes over my house and one time landed on my roof on accident on Christmas Eve
Oh my gosh, Mr. Stole was only six months older than me! He must have graduated the same year as me, back in 1977. With the loss of Mr. Stole, there aren't too many of us left anymore. I feel like I know him, and I feel like we could have been good friends! What a tragic loss, but I feel that somewhere, somehow, Mr. Stole is still flying on an endless flight....
I'm holding my judgement until the Blancolirio channel does a post incident review.
Looks like the pilot froze up in the final approach.
jajaja yes, but ailerons stick was not connected
Nah!!! I blame the daleks.
R.I.P. Cpt. John Stole, sad to see this beauty get destroyed - the level of detail in the cockpit and the camera pictures were just amazing. Good luck building a new one, hopefully she will have a luckier life.
AMAZING VIDEO. Just made my day. I laughed, I cried, God speed Captain John... Sorry about your plane.
Thanks !!
I was feeling sympathy for the loss of your plane. Until I saw that you had a huge field to land in and picked flying straight into a fence post. Were you aiming for that post?
Oh no 😢😢, May the aircraft and the pilot rest in peace. Looked hopeful until the fence came into view. It was a beautiful airplane.
You couldn't have hit the fence post more accurately if you were trying. Always works that way with models. If there is a sole tree in the field it will be hit.
I put that squarely on the pilot. He had his seat so far back he couldn't reach the rudder pedals, so when the engine quit he didn't have full control of his aircraft. Glue his head back on and try again.
I'm shopping for a "Real" Carbon Cub right now, saw this and had to click on it....Was very relieved to see it was a model plane not a real one! You did an amazing job putting this together. I'm sorry you crashed your plane. I think my laughing was more relief than anything else. Now...back to shopping.
Don't get one with a stolen engine design and imported from China!
P.S. A Chinese company bought out Continental Engines too.
It is nice to be rich and be able to afford a real plane! 😀
Model? What model? What are you talking about?! 😱
Great video. Most of us that have flown long enough have made a mistake and panicked. Too bad it ended like it did. That was an awesome plane! How did you connect the stick to the ailerons like that? Hope you build another.
I didn't know John, but his attention to detail during preflight was evident. Some might say he was almost robotically focused on the task at hand.
Aw, man, that really hurt to see! Worst of bad luck. Wonderful video, non the less. Loved the shots from under the wing. What type of camera did you use for that angle?
Great video! What cameras did you use? They look amazing and obviously were strong enough to survive the crash!
Hey is that the latest Garmin certified panel? Was this plane it IFR capable?
✨💥R.I.P.💥✨ Captain Stole that goes to show you ,you never know when your numbers up. But at least he had a good front row seat lol😖🥴
Camera set was spot on man that looked so real Great job. But super sorry about your plane . That sucks . 👍
was für einen motor war dort verbaut?
I knew him, he was a great guy but had bad fuel management skills! Great video, thanks for sharing.
Julian Francis he was a great man....
He was probably too amazed by the beautiful Colombian landscape and forgot to check his fuel.
In 1963, as a 17 year old, I was taking flying lessons along wth a 16 year old using a 1946 Piper Cub & a 1946 Aeronca Champion at the Blairstown, N.J. airport! The 16 year old,
Steven Crawford, was able to complete the required minimum 8 hrs. training before me & was given his 'solo pilot's ' license & continued to rent the plane to accrue more hours that summer. Unfortunately, he attempted to make an unscheduled landing at a unfinished construction site & crashed, wrecking the plane & being killed! Partly because of this, the Flying
School was disbanded & I was not able to solo! I never did find out which of the two planes was wrecked! It's a dangerous but fun pastime!
this location is very nice
Definitely pilot error. Captain Stole had enough altitude and speed to stick a landing. RIP Captain Stole.
I believe the late Capt. Stole relied a bit too heavily on his avionics and should have been watching out for the fence. After a thorough investigation, which will soon be an episode of "Air Disasters," the LRSB is calling this one pilot error. He shouldn't have been sitting there like a dummy.
Completely avoidable and completely pilot error. No reason that the engine out should have ended that way.
Dear God, especially with all that clear terrain! WTF?!
@John Smith I just took delivery on mine TODAY! I'm going electric, too. Been flying the identical but smaller foamer version and loving it. On the sim, the 15cc gasser seems a little anemic yet the electric versions seem to pull pretty good for some decent basic aerobatics. What are your thought on gas vs electric on this bird?
I totally agree. pilot error
No need to be mean about it mate. He was only reacting best he could
Me think's the Captain, .... had a suicide wish. Just saying! Either than, or he wanted a closer look at that Barbed wire...did someone tie that wrong?
What engine was used for this?
Excellent film footage and sound.
How is that fence post doing?
Loved it, thanks from America! Next time do a complete Pre flight. Might have caught the bad fuel that choke your engine.
John was a very skilled pilot...100’s of hours in almost every type of aircraft...he will be missed...RIP captain John..
amazing video and good humor. good luck with your next one
Liked your clip, pity about the dead-stick but that is one of the reasons I built mine 'electric'! However, tough luck . Where did you buy the pilot?
It appears Captain John and his seat made a hasty exit through the windshield.. Good thing the engine wasn't running, he could have been diced. Sorry for your loss. I hate to see any plane get destroyed.
Beautiful area. How much are homes?
I love the way You put the cámara...the front Windows looks so good.... Sorry for the lost....
Thanks for sharing, very nice video! Rest in peices!
There is always a fence or lamppost on the way. Unfortunately. Better luck next time. AWESOME CUB
was the post ok?
Condolences to the family. Fly high Captain!
this is so sad but at least he died doing what he loved. i loved the way you had that setup tho bud. it was an awesome build
Epic video! Sorry for your loss.
Really nice plane. Flew great.
Awesome! Do you made cockpit yourself?
I am about to order one and yes setup in electric, thank you for sharing.
Me too. I won't be hitting any fence posts, though! Did you get one yet? Ordering mine pretty soon.
Was it a dead stick crash?
Talk about bad luck for John. May he rest in peace.
I am so sorry for your loss. Such a tragic ending to such a brave pilot. Sad... just sad...
Bro went THROUGH the windscreen in Slo-MO !
Dang !! That beautiful plane OMG . is it fixable ?
It was tragic news when I learned of the passing of Captain John, it seem like it was just yesterday when he and I flew back to Alaska for our moose hunt. he had some great stories. RIP Captain.
This plane looks so perfect and stable to fly, but sadly ending.
Oh, this was wonderful!
Was the passenger OK?
John Stole need not be enlarged in death beyond what he was in life. Simply to be remembered as a good and decent man, who saw wrong and tried to right it, who saw suffering and tried to heal it, who saw war and tried to stop it.
RIP Captain Stole. Flew that plane like he stole it :)
Que lástima...
Esse avião é lindo
Mas no aeromodelismo de vez enquando, cair faz parte do espetáculo...Abraço é bons vôos pro amigo
You had all that land to LAND IN and you picked out that post perfectly, well it did look good for awhile....
Great video, sorry about your labor of love , hope she flies again
Obviously carb icing on final.
Always remember to carry out your downwind checklist.
Good news his wife is now available.
😂🤣🤣😂
Rumour has it that his wife is a hot Russian email bride less than half his age who is looking for some action.
Lol
She always was.....
Damn fences! Been there, too, brother.
Wow! That Blows
Yup, The Law of Fences strikes again! Sorry to see, was a nice plane. See you soon ;)
Great camera work.
Well that was pretty good for a disaster. Really well made. Sorry ‘bout the plane. Tragic about John.
Today's main event carbon vs. wooden post.
A 7-inch tall widow grieves to this day.
Great soundtrack
My deepest condolences.... do you think a helmet might have helped?
I've got the model and re-engined with a DLE 20. It has stopped, but got it down, even in a gale. Found the engine even was set richer, was still too lean. Ran well after a slight adjustment.
Could've avoided th fence and hit a post head on. Shame.
Carb heat?
video bellissimo e bella la riproduzione Dell aereo... peccato il finale...
Brings new meaning to post-crash investigation. Sorry about your Carbon Cub! I hope you were able to repair or at least move components to another one.
It appears to of been avoidable, but that's easy to say from my living room.
That crash sure looked like a real one! Too bad about the plane.
Thanks
RC PLANE
HOLY HANNAH!!!
A touch to the right would have been good. You were probably too far away to see though. Too Bad, Sorry. Build, fly, crash, rebuild. That's the hobby. Always learning.
no wonder man, the radar was broken, must have been a short
That sux.. what incredibly bad luck to hit that small pole...
That was pretty dam cool though!! Sorry you lost your plane that always sucks and that particular kind of plane will fly forever as long as its not damaged.
So tragic, but the official accident report lists pilot error as the primary, actually the sole cause of the crash. There were clearly other better choices to land than a barbed wire fence. In retrospect, this type of accident can happen to the best of them.
Adios Mr. Stole, lmao that was funny rip, Sir. lol
What a great video. I'm sorry you lost your plane and a close Bud.
RIP capt. John
Well you panicked when the motor cut,you could have easily avoided that darn fence, engine outs are all part of flying, better luck next time.
I love seeing hindsight comments on videos like this. I imagine the commenters happily smelling their own farts afterwards as a reward for giving such great and totally-not-obvious advice.
The fence was very bad luck, if the plane would have landed in the pasture the damage would probably have been not that bad. But there was not much he could do to avoid it. It's always easy to say in hindsight that it was avoidable, but in that moment with only a few seconds to react, it's not that easy to do the right thing.
No flaps?
Yup been there first hand a few times. Usually you can see the fences better from the cockpit than from the ground on the other side of a hill. RIP.
