Pay attention to lyrics. I used to never pay attention to the lyrics, because I'm a keyboardist who loves the instrumental. Now, I pay much more attention to the lyrics.

The Temptations that is one of my groups. I love the music of the 60's and 70's. I also love old reggae with a message. I don't listen as much as I used to, but from time to time I like to listen to some Impressions, The Tempts, The Tops, etc. Even when I was in the world I never really had a thing for crazy sounding music. I always loved the songs that had a message. Wake Up Everybody is a Timeless classic. The church need to listen to it because they are asleep. We must use discernment. We consume and produce . What is the spirit behind the music ? Just because we can do a thing. Doesn’t mean we should. Great teaching Brother Corey.
Yes, but Paul also added in a few more things. He talks about how it can/will affect a brother who is grieved by what you're doing and how if you cause him to stumble and perish, you have sinned against him and God. He then also talks about how the world sees you when you partake in these things and how it affects your preaching and finally he even said that when you go to buy meat or go to someone's house to eat don't ask where it came from, just accept it. However, if someone tells you it was sacrificed to false idols, then don't eat. So there's a lot more to it than just everything is lawful, going even further Paul then talks about how in his ignorance, he persecuted alot of Christians but God's mercy was so great that he saved him and forgave him from who he used to be. Going even further in Hebrews, God warns us about trampling on his grace and that by doing so, we have a fearful expectation of judgment because by trampling over his grace, there is no longer a means of sacrifice. Of course, in all of this, the Holy Spirit will guide and convict you, and as you grow and Jesus increases in you, the more you will change and the things you accept will change. If you get convicted, please listen, for Paul also warns us against quenching the Holy Spirit. In this life, we all have free will, so God won't force us to listen, but if we disobey time and time and time again, he will stop convicting us and lastly in all things use, pray and practice decernment and test everything against the word of God, because things just don't change us instantly, but rather slowly over time
Thanks brother for adding the drugs at the end of this great message, I was once addicted to secular music, drugs, alcohol, sex etc. back in the day, now addicted to God alone in Christ Jesus.
Thanks for your take on this topic brother Corey! We have to use discernment when we listen to secular music. I personally don't want listen to it anymore because it hindered my spiritual growth. Be vigilant brothers and sisters!
I look at the subject like this: I believe we as Christians should be wary and careful of what we consume, no matter if it's music, videos, TV, gaming, or any kind of entertainment. And like you stated, some people may be affected by whatever entertainment that's being delivered, which proves your point. Now, a lot of us who have common sense would obviously say just because we watch, listen, or play something doesn't mean that we would go out and commit those very behaviors, in which many cases, THAT is true. But I also believe that Philippians 4:8 also says that we need to think on things that are true, honest, praiseworthy, and pure. Even a LOT of the music that's considered "Christian" can also lead people astray (especially if we're judging by the music videos), but a lot of Christians would be in SERIOUS defense of the mainstream Christian recording artists out there too, believe it or not, which TBH, in John 4:24, it states that we as Christians MUST worship God in Spirit and in Truth. So all in all, we have to keep our minds at bay of what we consume.
Glad Cory keeping it real...i bump ice cube and pac when working out for the pump but it ain't beneficial and and somehow i get that feeling of "okay, enough" so i go put on some bizzle cause i feel it messing with me
There are some songs that spirits operate behind to bring us down. If you listen 👂 to songs about killing, smoking weed, and suicidal things. Evil Spirits 👿 operate behind music and lyrics like that. It grieves the Holy Spirit.
This is something i struggle with. I love listening to love songs....I used to listen to rap songs that talk on violence and sex but i stopped when i got saved....however the old love songs i love.....
This is so good. As a previously lukewarm Christian who has now dedicated my life back to Christ I’ve struggled with this. I didn’t know if I could listen to secular music, so I avoided it but this makes sense. Now I’ll use a spirit of discernment. There are already artists and songs I don’t miss. Thank you!
So much music these days is garbage. My listening habits have changed since my conversion but I still enjoy some secular music as long as the message isn’t sinful.
Fr, mainstream music don't cut it, they all sound the same or talk about the same crap I listen to J-pop or any other Japanese song, it's a whole different world out there
I like to say it like this my brother even though the Bible doesn’t tell us am sure that they where not dancing at Jewish wedding to nearer my God to the. But as you stated if it causes you or someone else to stumble then don’t do it.
I listen to what makes me happy and doesn't influence me in any type of evil way. There's so many love songs that I love that can be about God or a loved one and theres many songs that I make my own interpretations of I've had many people try to tell me what I can or can't listen to and some people really feel they are "more holy" for following their own made up rules
I play blues harmonica solo and in a band downtown. I always leave the venue asap . I also play harmonica on the worship team at church and tbh the 2 aren’t much different 😎👍
Thank you for your sanity in the music area. I have seen some Christians really go off the deep end here. I enjoy a lot of Classic Rock, Classical, and some Blues, even some Country. There are Christians who claim that Classical is okay, but RnR is ALL rebellious and demonic. They obviously aren't aware of the "subversiveness" of some of the Great Composers and their adventures in music that went against the grain of their era. AND, if someone has an issue with some of my musical preferences, I won't play them if they come to my house. I will probably play something I know they like. How easy it is to strain a gnat and swallow a camel, or hold to the very letter of a law and completely miss the spirit of it. OR have a shiny clean outside and a heart of envy, anger, and pride. Thank you.
I'm from the Galveston, TX area, so y'all who knows understands who DJ Screw was and his impact on rap in Houston. I absolutely cannot listen to it anymore. I used to use it as driving music and eventually just kept it to workout music. I tried playing a few tracks a couple of months ago and could not get through the first verse. I had to let it go. I still listen to 70's 80's and 90's R&B when I am cooking and cleaning, but I even do that less these days. I thank God because he definitely convicted my spirit regarding rap music. I absolutely cannot get down with the vulgar R&B music of these days. God bless y'all.
As a group fitness instructor who teaches all populations I can’t just play Christian music. I teach classes from spinning, Pilates, to seniors, etc. So I play big band to relaxing music to techno. The key is to make sure there are no bad lyrics or anything that insinuates something bad. One thing I’ve done for decades being in this industry is include at least one Christian song to plant seeds.
I listen to Smooth Jazz, Chill hop, Soothing Spiritual Hymns, some hip hop and some smooth neo soul. Of course, I listen to Gospel/Christian music as well. I know what you are saying on this subject because a lot of music I got out of listening to myself like Crunk music (Pastor Troy, Lil Jon, and 3-6 Mafia). Music like this had me so amped up and ready to go to the clubs. Of course, I'm not like that any more. I haven't went clubbing in about 15 years. What about the people who goes to church singing gospel music and then going back to sinning through the week.
There was a testimony I heard from a man sometime ago named Jefferson Bethke when he talked about Paul putting a verse in 1 Corinthians chapter 15 where it talks about evil communications corrupting good manners, and he said Paul quoted a pagan man when he put that in the chapter. Of course there was God years before the apostles were born calling a pagan king by the name of Nebuchadnezzar in the book of Jeremiah His servant 3 times in that book. And then I came to be persuaded that Nebuchadnezzar became a believer in God according to what is written in Daniel 4:37 where he praised the God of Heaven in that verse that right there deserves a hearty amen to that. Kind of proves why there is no respect of persons with God at all especially when He calls sinners to repentance according to the testimony and words of Jesus Christ Himself when He said I came not to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.
I’ve been a born again believer for more than 20 years . No matter if I believer listens to certain music or not it’s not a salvation issue so no matter if they do it or not is on them ans between them and the lord . The word says to let every man be pursuaded in his own mind Yes we are not to do something around our Brother and sis in Christ that will not cause one to stubble etc One person will water one will play seed but the lord gives the increase he doseht necessary need”is to help him save anyway it’s on the person and their free will and what they choose it’s already in their hearts for them to make the decision about salvation ot has nothing to do with us who are saved it’s just an excuse No man can come to Christ unless he draws them
I am 50+ and I still listen to EWF and music from that era, from R&B to rock to country to folk. I had to stop listening to the industrial tunes though, some of that stuff was straight up demonic just like modern hip hop & heavy metal.
I don’t listen to Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir on a 3 mile run. I can tell you that. It's about discernment with me. I'm Haitian and most Caribbean music is upbeat and lifts the soul, but it's not Christian. In addition, give me a little Shania Twain, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, jazz etc. I'm careful to not become a legalist in all areas of my life.
Secular music is of the world, if it makes you think of who you was with and what you was doing in a worldly way THEN IT'S NOT GOOD, the word tells us transformation and renewing of the mind. I always say WHAT WOULD JESUS DO, WOULD HE BE LISTENING TO SECULAR MUSIC OR WOULD HE BE LISTENING AND MEDITATING ON THE THINGS TO PLEASE HIS FATHER BECAUSE HE IS OUR EXAMPLE COME OUT FROM AMONG THE WORLD AND BE YOU TRANSFORM, HOW CAN WE GAIN THE MIND OF CHRIST WHEN WE ARE LISTENING TO THE THINGS OF THE WORLD. HE SAID BE YE HOLY AS I AM.HOLY
The Bible never expressly forbids secular music, especially because Christ didn't tell the flute players in Matt 9 to cut it out or tell them that they were playing the devil's music. Instead of telling the flute players to cease, He told them to get out of the house so He could resurrect the girl. _The Bible_ is the authority on what a Christian should or shouldn't do, not you.
@@theeternalsbeliever1779 you live and believe the way you want to because sometimes as true believers we begin to pursue after God and His RIGHTEOUSNESS we begin to gain the mind of Christ and we love what He love and we hate what He hates, why keep telling ppl if you have already told them and they find every excuse to live the way they want to live. I can't have Jesus and the world to, He said come out from among them and be you separated, and why continue to throw your pearls to the swines when all they are going to do is trample over it. So tell the ppl God word and that's all can be done and wash your hands they have been TOLD
PJ Morton is one of my favorites. He does R&B, Gospel, and Pop (Maroon 5 band member). Love him. More artists are crossing genres. Dante Bowe just did a R&B album
When gospel music cause you to think of secular music, we have a problem. I cannot see myself not listening to old school gladys Knight, Earth Wind and Fire, Minnie Riperton. It vex my spirit when I hear gospel music that sounds like secular. There must be a separation.
I stay away from secular music. When I have thought it safe to listen to some, or was somewhere (like a store) where it was playing-I must marinate my soul in gospel to rid myself of that tune. There’s a reason when I was a ‘Holiday Christian’ (church only on those occasions) that I could not stand, hated even-tha’ sound of Choirs. There were NO praise teams when I was coming up. An anointed choir, made me have a ‘gnashing of teeth’. It was the ‘sound of angels’ singing to GOD that convicted my soul. I HATED it. Now that I am saved-I ABSOLUTELY LOVE CHOIRS….not a fan of ‘praise teams’. I LOVE the sound of the angelic multitude in unison. It ushers me into a worship that the Holiness of GOD deserves. CHRISTIAN MUSIC IS ABSOLUTELY VITAL TO HIM/HER spirit and soul. Does my flesh jump sometimes with secular? Yes…because I remember tha’ days, tha’ beats, lyrics…drinkin’ and all tha’ other foulness that came with it. So for me-I myself…MUST stay clear of secular and that even includes some of this ‘contemporary so-called gospel’. Laced with a good beat and an ambiguous mention of ‘him’ or ‘he’ but NO mention of Christ Jesus. These are fence straddlers. So-called christians that’s channeling the pockets of both the GODLY and man. To afraid to be specific in theirs lyrics for fear of missing tha’ additional coins. Your either the old man or…tha’ NEW creature. Truth be told…you will never have to worry about tha’ feeling of a ‘booty call’ off tha’ likes of a Mahalia Jackson, a Mississippi Mass Choir or even a Martha Munizzi. It…Just…won’t…happen.
Thanks cause there are Christian’s that do say Christian’s shouldn’t listen to “this or that” music and even they even say that Christian’s shouldn’t watch “this or that show” and even “this or that movie or movie genre”. I like both secular music and Christian music and there are certain types of music that I don’t like and it’s the same with certain genres of Christian music. I personally don’t like gospel music cause it sounds like opera music and i don’t mind if it’s in a movie, it’s just the type of music that I don’t like that I don’t mostly listen to. I like pop, rap/hip hop (even today and old), some country, classic rock, nu metal, alternative metal, rock, bethel, Christian rap, Christian pop and kpop. I don’t listen to heavy metal, bluegrass, jazz, blues and rhythm, blues, etc. Here is something that is contraversial, my favorite artists happen to be cardi b, Taylor swift, eminem, 50 cent, saweetie, Tobymac, Lauren diagle, fifth harmony, etc. There are songs that I don’t like 1. Monstero by lil nas X 2. Stuck like glue by sugarland I also don’t like the movie the water horse: legends of the deep and stuck like glue by sugarland The reason why i like the artists that I like is because some of them i grew up listening to like ooh ahh by the gritz feat Tobymac is either because of a movie like fast and the furious movies had that song that I just mentioned cause I grew up liking fast and furious movies, and I love to you like the songs from the movies (most but not all) and it’s due to my interests and because of my parents.
@@teej1055that’s other people that are sayin that. It’s more of a conspiracy theory. I don’t believe it at all and i wouldnt listen to those people that sayin it cause they possibly might be the same people that say stuff about Disney. Some people believe that Walt Disney was a satanic pedophile and even thou its not true and that they are spreading lies about him which is bearing false witness…they believe it’s a sin to watch Disney movies. They also believed that Walt Disney was a freemason when he isn’t. He went demolay international when he was young but he was never into freemasonry at all. As a matter of fact, Walt Disney and his whole family was congragational christian and he was a Christian, his whole life even thou he was quiet about his faith. You can even see some sort of Christian allegory into Disney movies like Pinocchio and Fantasia 2000 I know that and I heard about it for a long time and I don’t believe it at all especially when I use to be in conspiracy theory groups on Facebook. Hearing that stuff is nothing new to me at all. I don’t believe in those conspiracy theories at all. I rather stick with facts or urban legends than conspiracy theories. Just follow your convictions on Taylor swift and cardi b, I would also not listen to those people that are sayin those things. Most that stuff is not even true especially stuff about Taylor swift, Disney, cardi b…It is just thier opinion that they believe that you don’t have to believe. If you feel convicted from listening to Taylor swift and cardi b then thats fine but respect others that don’t have the same conviction as you instead of believing those people that are telling you those things about cardi b, Taylor swift and even about Disney because it can turn into legalism. I hope this helps and God bless you.
The simple way I answer this is this: does it glorify God, is it a testimony leading to salvation for someone, is it positive? If no, then I'm not listening to it. I mostly listen to Christian hip hop, gospel, and worship music. Music in general used to he stronghold for me especially explicit hip hop/rap, trap, gangsta rap, etc and rnb that wasnt really focused on true love. I choose to not listen to it anymore.
I listen to love song and it doesn’t entice me to do anything. I don’t even like sex or to be touch but I listen to love songs. Songs only affect you if you allow it and I don’t allow it 🤷🏾♀️ so single people can listen to love songs.
I am thankful that most of the music I listen to was jazz instrumentals or electronic music which is usually instrumental but there are some rhythms that could have a certain sound that could just sound discordant or wicked . Before I came to Christ I listened to classic rock, Brazilian samba , Afoxe, Cuban Rumba , Salsa, Merengue ,reggae ,soca, funk, (old school), soul (tower of Power). However, I had to drop a lot of the afro-Cuban stuff because of the Yoruba afro chanting .from groups like “Irakere“. There are some old salseros that have become Christian so they still use the rhythms but have strong gospel messages such that you can tell it’s different from a worldly salsa tune. It’s “tamer” somehow.
Can yes, should they? that is the question. - Music is music, all made up of notes, but some are like an R rated film and other like a good family film, made of the same stuff, one is just not appropriate for followers of Christ.
People must come to Jesus they must make a choice to leave their rebellion and make a choice to believe in Jesus or they are not saved and people will be held responsible held accountable by God for not believing in Jesus
The biggest sin when it comes to music among "Christians" is NOT obeying the Biblical flaglaship verses the LORD commands abouyt music. The LORD's command in EPHESIANS
"Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;"
and COLOSSIANS
"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”. We mot even doing this RIGHT!
Any and all arrangement of spiritual songs should emphasize the MELODY ("making melody in your hearts"). The music should ACCOMPANY (not OVERPOWER) the lyrics. This is not the case with Black Gospel where we know the emphasis is on BEAT and RYTHYM. Thus, with their music, you can dance to it and even slow grind to it because their music follows the same style as carnal, worldly and secular music. Music is never neutral. Music has influence and impact, that it could be used to draw certain bad emotions, thoughts and responses out of the listeners. Frank Zappa (a rockster) said about his own music "Rock music is sex." The big beat matches the body’s rhythms”. B.B. King, said in his autobiography, “The women reacted with their bodies flowing to a rhythm coming out of my guitar.” SECULAR musicians are telling us about their music. It's carnal, appeal to the flesh, evil, wicked, and WORLDLY. The LORD command us to be not a part of this world. We are supposed to be sanctified, different, holy and set APART!
The LORD knew EAXCTLY why He had the writers pen those verses in Ephesians and Colossians. The LORD know these things should be to admonish. His commandments as RIGHTEOUS, and man can DO THEM! He NEVER tempts man to do evil.
That is literally only half a verse and that verse isn’t even talking about secularism and therefore you’re using it wrong. Almost everything can be secular. You’re using an app that wasn’t made in faith or made for the intended use of practicing faith. It doesn’t mean you’re sinning. Any thing made by man without the inspiration of the Holy Spirit can be considered secular.
@@terrygreen3553 Secular music wouldn’t be made in heaven because every thing everyone will be doing they will be doing to the glory of God therefore inspired by the Holy Spirit that resides in us. You have to understand what secular actually means. It just means with no basis or roots in religion. For example, music genres that mostly contain music with no words that won’t generate certain thoughts still counts as secular but guess what? They aren’t sinful. If it generates impure thoughts, emotions or sinful actions for yourself or others then it’s sinful. But as is secular doesn’t mean or isn’t a synonym for sinful.
@@Kingdom_Heart I KNOW WHAT SECULAR MEANS AND WHAT IT REPRESENTS, BUT NO MATTER WHAT ANYONE SAYS PEOPLE WILL FIND A WAY TO JUSTIFY LISTENING TO IT, FROM ANALYZING THE WORDS, TOO THE BEAT, BUT SECULAR MUSIC (WORDLY MUSIC) WILL NEVER GLORIFY GOD..
Would like to hear your thoughts on what God says the roles for man, women, children, grandparents. And please don’t let the women off the hook. The church is failing in glorifying the matriarch because of more women members. If you can’t have your wife tell women for you
Can, yes they can. They can do anything they want, they could go bungee jumping over a lake with crocodiles and lengthen the cord. If they're physically able they can do whatever. That doesn't mean, they should do whatever they want. The Bible tells us to walk in the Spirit and to flee worldliness, avoid evil in any form, to keep ourselves pure body, mind and soul. Holiness is what we are to strive for, being watchful for if we're gound sleeping our garments be set on gire and the shame of our nakedness be seen. We are to worship God with spiritual hymns, psalms and music in our hearts being full of the (Holy) Spirit. These all are verses in the Bible. music is part of worship, secular music is worship for someone other than God. There only two entities, they arenfighting over mankind, so if secular music is not of God, nor approved of by God, it doesn't bring worship to Him then guess who gets it. We find out that music can attract or chase spirits, remember David and Saul in the Bible or Elisha when the kings Jehoshaphat, Jehoram and the king of Edom went to fight the Moabites. This should not even be a question in any Christians mind. Christians have no business listening to that kind of music.
It depends on the artist, the song that the artist makes and if it's going to cause them to stumble All secular means is that it's not "religious" or "spiritual" Not all secular songs are evil, you have K-Pop, Lofi, EDM, J-pop, etc, and if you take a look at those songs, either they have no lyrics (Lofi and EDM mostly), or when it comes to J-pop or K-pop, they use it to tell a story, sing about emotions, etc Now like I said, there's obviously some artists we shouldn't listen to (Cardi B, Megan thee stallion, pretty much most rappers), and we also shouldn't listen to songs about sex, money, murder, drugs, etc Heck, there're some Christian artists that make music that doesn't inherently talk about God, but they uphold a positive message (Fit for a king, NF, Devil wears Prada, August burns red, Skillet) Heck, there's some secular songs that has more a positive message than most Christian songs There's also alot a "Christian" songs that's more "secular" if anything I listen to J-pop, J-metal, but I also dabble in Christian rock/metal If you say secular music is evil, might as well apply it to games, tv, movies, clothing brands, stores, websites you use, etc (which, news flash, you're using a secular website, got clothing out of a secular store, also, your favorite 60s, 80s, 90s song, that's secular as well) Secular music, like most things isn't a sin of itself, it's about the person making it, what they're talking about, or if it's gonna cause you to stumble No, you're not lukewarm if you listen to secular music, just be careful of what exactly you're listening to
First second and last, christian or gospel music owes its very roots and origin to all the music genres which existed before christian music. Listen to me all, there's no gospel or christian music in Heaven. Revelation says, and they sang a new song! There are no encores in Heaven, no gospel artists, no worship teams... everyone sings songs never heard, never practised or rehearsed before. People on earth sing and yearn for Heaven through man-made songs...in Heaven people sing and worship through new song every time they sing together. I love smooth jazz, all forms of jazz, pop, reggae, etc! Why? Because i am part of this world and am not in Heaven! 😂
Brother Cory Father God Almighty creator of Heaven and Earth has let me hate heavy metal-hard rock and rap I don't like any kind of rap because it started out being so evil cursing sex talk all kinds of filth. Secular music rap R&B Rock country gives glory to the world to please the world and this worldly system that we live in belongs to Satan as a believer in Christ Jesus the music that the Believers should be listening to should be giving praise to God Yahweh in Psalms and hymns give him praise and glory to him and not the world.
the answer is no it's a ReSound and no because that music is from the rim of darkness it's from the kingdom of darkness God has nothing to do with that music it is from the system of the kingdom of darkness and it carries with it an essence of deathagain the answer is a resounding no no believer have any business listening to secular music nor do they have any business taking secular music and making them out of gospel songs because when Satan releases those songs through the unbeliever then it carries a satanic frequency that no matter how you change the word and make it godly the satanic frequency step and influence is still on there to do the demonic work and damage that is designed to do in the minds and hearts of people that's why God said in his word he commanded us sing a new song.

a thing. Doesn’t mean we should. Great teaching Brother Corey.
According to Paul, all things are lawful, but not all things are profitable.
In this life, we all have free will, so God won't force us to listen, but if we disobey time and time and time again, he will stop convicting us and lastly in all things use, pray and practice decernment and test everything against the word of God, because things just don't change us instantly, but rather slowly over time
So blessed by your message. I've preached the same in my church yesterday. God bless.
Thanks brother for adding the drugs at the end of this great message, I was once addicted to secular music, drugs, alcohol, sex etc. back in the day, now addicted to God alone in Christ Jesus.
Definitely need to teach our children to discern what is appropriate and acceptable. It all starts at home.
Thanks for your take on this topic brother Corey! We have to use discernment when we listen to secular music. I personally don't want listen to it anymore because it hindered my spiritual growth. Be vigilant brothers and sisters!
Some gospel music sounds like R&B.
Yup.
I look at the subject like this:
I believe we as Christians should be wary and careful of what we consume, no matter if it's music, videos, TV, gaming, or any kind of entertainment.
All really good points made. Amen!
You sir was right on point now. Let us all continue to give God the glory Hallelujah
This is something i struggle with. I love listening to love songs....I used to listen to rap songs that talk on violence and sex but i stopped when i got saved....however the old love songs i love.....
I feel you this was a struggle for me too
Great video, this is sure to aid many Christian young and old who consume a lot of music
Amen 🙏🙌❤. Thanks for Sharing
Dope take on this my brother!!!
Thank u needed this because if by chance I listen to love songs it has caused me to hang an inappropriate dream...I feel so convicted...
Thank you!
Very helpful information
This is good💯
So much music these days is garbage. My listening habits have changed since my conversion but I still enjoy some secular music as long as the message isn’t sinful.
Fr, mainstream music don't cut it, they all sound the same or talk about the same crap
I listen to J-pop or any other Japanese song, it's a whole different world out there
I like to say it like this my brother even though the Bible doesn’t tell us am sure that they where not dancing at Jewish wedding to nearer my God to the. But as you stated if it causes you or someone else to stumble then don’t do it.
...who'd you mention sweets! I wasn't gon eat those cookies!
Thank you Bro. Corey for your work in helping the saints understand the Word of God!
I No Longer Desire My Former Past Times, Movies & Music. Don't Even Miss It. HalleluJah!
I listen to what makes me happy and doesn't influence me in any type of evil way.
There's so many love songs that I love that can be about God or a loved one and theres many songs that I make my own interpretations of
I've had many people try to tell me what I can or can't listen to and some people really feel they are "more holy" for following their own made up rules
Jazz and old school music had a meaning and spoke about issues will have in life, there is nothing wrong listening to good music 😊
I play blues harmonica solo and in a band downtown. I always leave the venue asap .
I also play harmonica on the worship team at church and tbh the 2 aren’t much different 😎👍
Thanks!
God bless y'all.
i was big on dj screw and them old 90s memphis rap cassette tapes. im starting to give up on all of it
As a group fitness instructor who teaches all populations I can’t just play Christian music.
You can but you shouldn't
No not at all a correct answer, you already listen to secular music. Did you not watch the video?
ANDRAE CROUCH, the father of modern gospel his music and lyrics were AWESOME!!!
Yes they should and can if they want to
Just as long as they resist giving into the temptation to turn it into an idol or anything else than there is nothing wrong with it.
Good video.
Thank you
What's next¿
I’ve been a born again believer for more than 20 years . No matter if I believer listens to certain music or not it’s not a salvation issue so no matter if they do it or not is on them ans between them and the lord . The word says to let every man be pursuaded in his own mind
Yes we are not to do something around our Brother and sis in Christ that will not cause one to stubble etc
One person will water one will play seed but the lord gives the increase he doseht necessary need”is to help him save anyway it’s on the person and their free will and what they choose it’s already in their hearts for them to make the decision about salvation ot has nothing to do with us who are saved it’s just an excuse
No man can come to Christ unless he draws them
I am 50+ and I still listen to EWF and music from that era, from R&B to rock to country to folk. I had to stop listening to the industrial tunes though, some of that stuff was straight up demonic just like modern hip hop & heavy metal.
What about a nice Chopin piece like the Minute Waltz or Fantaisie Impromptu?
I don’t listen to Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir on a 3 mile run. I can tell you that. It's about discernment with me. I'm Haitian and most Caribbean music is upbeat and lifts the soul, but it's not Christian. In addition, give me a little Shania Twain, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, jazz etc. I'm careful to not become a legalist in all areas of my life.
😂😂😂 “Boom Boom Pow” 😂😂
Lol
Secular music is of the world, if it makes you think of who you was with and what you was doing in a worldly way THEN IT'S NOT GOOD, the word tells us transformation and renewing of the mind.
I always say WHAT WOULD JESUS DO, WOULD HE BE LISTENING TO SECULAR MUSIC OR WOULD HE BE LISTENING AND MEDITATING ON THE THINGS TO PLEASE HIS FATHER BECAUSE HE IS OUR EXAMPLE
COME OUT FROM AMONG THE WORLD AND BE YOU TRANSFORM, HOW CAN WE GAIN THE MIND OF CHRIST WHEN WE ARE LISTENING TO THE THINGS OF THE WORLD.
Corey, what are your thoughts on when a Gospel artist turns to singing and producing R and B music?
PJ Morton is one of my favorites. He does R&B, Gospel, and Pop (Maroon 5 band member). Love him. More artists are crossing genres. Dante Bowe just did a R&B album
I can't be around Scantaly Clad women, its a NO NO for me
Me neither
Amen, and don't let me be around when they are listening to Cardi B or Lizzo. Terrible, prefer my R&B. Uncle Sam anyone?

Hey Corey, I like listening 🎧 to your feedback on scripture, but do you read the commentaries on here?
When gospel music cause you to think of secular music, we have a problem. I cannot see myself not listening to old school gladys Knight, Earth Wind and Fire, Minnie Riperton. It vex my spirit when I hear gospel music that sounds like secular. There must be a separation.
So what about just listening to instrumentals of songs? I used to like the 90s gansta rap but I really liked it for the beat.
There are songs that I don’t like
1. Monstero by lil nas X
2. Stuck like glue by sugarland
I also don’t like the movie the water horse: legends of the deep and stuck like glue by sugarland
The reason why i like the artists that I like is because some of them i grew up listening to like ooh ahh by the gritz feat Tobymac is either because of a movie like fast and the furious movies had that song that I just mentioned cause I grew up liking fast and furious movies, and I love to you like the songs from the movies (most but not all) and it’s due to my interests and because of my parents.
You can even see some sort of Christian allegory into Disney movies like Pinocchio and Fantasia 2000
I know that and I heard about it for a long time and I don’t believe it at all especially when I use to be in conspiracy theory groups on Facebook.
B.B. King, said in his autobiography, “The women reacted with their bodies flowing to a rhythm coming out of my guitar.”
SECULAR musicians are telling us about their music.
"...everything that does not come from faith, is sin." (Romans 14, 23) Does listening to secular songs come from faith?
That is literally only half a verse and that verse isn’t even talking about secularism and therefore you’re using it wrong. Almost everything can be secular. You’re using an app that wasn’t made in faith or made for the intended use of practicing faith. It doesn’t mean you’re sinning. Any thing made by man without the inspiration of the Holy Spirit can be considered secular.
ASK YOURSELF THIS..WILL SECULAR MUSIC BE PLAYING IN HEAVEN? IF WHATEVER YOUR DOING OR LISTENING TO GLORIFY GOD?
That’s not what that verse is about. Ephesians 5 is way better to prove your point. But that verse you mentioned was literally about food.
Now being saved I truly think
Earth Wind and Fire are witches and warlocks.
But spice 1 he just a broken soul.
Does anyone else have a physical 🤮reaction to the filth that is released from the deeply recessed vocal chords in the pit of Hell or is one unique?
It depends on the artist, the song that the artist makes and if it's going to cause them to stumble
All secular means is that it's not "religious" or "spiritual"
Not all secular songs are evil, you have K-Pop, Lofi, EDM, J-pop, etc, and if you take a look at those songs, either they have no lyrics (Lofi and EDM mostly), or when it comes to J-pop or K-pop, they use it to tell a story, sing about emotions, etc
Now like I said, there's obviously some artists we shouldn't listen to (Cardi B, Megan thee stallion, pretty much most rappers), and we also shouldn't listen to songs about sex, money, murder, drugs, etc
Heck, there're some Christian artists that make music that doesn't inherently talk about God, but they uphold a positive message (Fit for a king, NF, Devil wears Prada, August burns red, Skillet)
Heck, there's some secular songs that has more a positive message than most Christian songs
There's also alot a "Christian" songs that's more "secular" if anything
I listen to J-pop, J-metal, but I also dabble in Christian rock/metal
If you say secular music is evil, might as well apply it to games, tv, movies, clothing brands, stores, websites you use, etc (which, news flash, you're using a secular website, got clothing out of a secular store, also, your favorite 60s, 80s, 90s song, that's secular as well)
Secular music, like most things isn't a sin of itself, it's about the person making it, what they're talking about, or if it's gonna cause you to stumble
No, you're not lukewarm if you listen to secular music, just be careful of what exactly you're listening to
First second and last, christian or gospel music owes its very roots and origin to all the music genres which existed before christian music. 😂
Does it glorify God or the flesh/sin? If it’s not of God 🗑️.

Jesus sat wit the gentiles he didn’t sin with them know the difference
Define sin. Theirs your answer
the answer is no it's a ReSound and no because that music is from the rim of darkness it's from the kingdom of darkness God has nothing to do with that music it is from the system of the kingdom of darkness and it carries with it an essence of deathagain the answer is a resounding no no believer have any business listening to secular music nor do they have any business taking secular music and making them out of gospel songs because when Satan releases those songs through the unbeliever then it carries a satanic frequency that no matter how you change the word and make it godly the satanic frequency step and influence is still on there to do the demonic work and damage that is designed to do in the minds and hearts of people that's why God said in his word he commanded us sing a new song.
