Cheap Art Supplies Challenge!

- Hi, it's Waes! How have you all been doing? In this video i tried to spice things up a bit and do something a little different than usual, and not just a speedpaint... I bought this watercolor set when this challenge was still "trendy", but it took me this long to actually film it :,) I'm sorry.. The colors were actually quite good? I was expecting little to no color payoff at all, so i was pleasantly surprised at how well they behaved on paper... I wish I would've stuck to the challenge more strictly and not used my Keramik brush though... I feel like it would've been more authentic and fun? Oof... I'll keep that mindset for the next challenge... Overall, this was really fun and I've learned that "cheap" watercolors are underestimated! Of course they shouldn't be used for professional work, or originals that you're planning on selling, but for coloring sketches, and just messy studies, I think they're great! Maybe this challenge can come off as a way to trash on cheap supplies and to show why they're not as good as the more expensive ones, but I think of it now as a way to show that they can be used as well, and even though they're not high quality, you can still make amazing art with them! And it's not like them being lower quality will make you have to work 30x harder to make it look good either! If you want to paint, don't let being unable to afford expensive stuff hold you back! Most of us start out with cheap stuff anyways, like I did ;) My first watercolors were these pencil watercolors by Faber Castell that I had in the back of my drawer for years that I had never learned how to use! I took them out once i realized I wanted to color my drawings, and after only using them for a while, my mom gifted me a kuretake watercolor set (not the gansai ones! Just normal transparent watercolors) and from then on, I kept increasing the quality of my paints, as I got more confident that I truly wanted to become an artist! Maybe I'll do a more detailed video about my watercolor journey in the future... For now, I hope you enjoy this one! Thank you for reading this and I'll see you soon!
Edit: I had to reupload this because I realized I had exported this video in 360p :,) Sorry for that!

The smell after it rains is called “petrichor”! It’s really nice and comforting. Your art is always gorgeous
Facts, thanks🥰👍
Diana gateño how are you supposed pronounce petrichor
lissy peh-tree-core sorta.
Like can that be a candle? I'd love that as a present for my room sometimes😗

You are a great artist.
but with high quality supplies it improves the way your art it.
you can't deny it.
@@zawarudo7646 nope, if you draw like crap. Higher end art supplies won't change that.
@@666blackinfinity okay but if you draw well, high quality art supplies would make your art look better. not talking about the price, but about the quality.

Great now I can’t blame my slight lack of talent on having crappy supplies🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️😂
I love the smell of the rain touching the concrete and rain in general as well. It smells so freshh
MiMi! Yes! I always wondered what it was called. Apparently it’s called petrichor.
my two favorite smells is the smell of rain and the smell of the morning (that is if i wake up early)

God, still amazing even though u used cheap supplies 😮
I love it it's so beautiful. Goes to show it's about talent not the fancy expensive tools if you got talent you can make anything beautiful.
I can't afford all that fancy supplies and make art with stuff that are meant for little kids😂. I'm not as good as her but I think I'm pretty decent.

Yay!! I was so scared when the video just disappeared ❤️❤️
I was literally just watching a video from her and said "I miss her videos" Thank you for blessing me with this video!
Sua arte me inspira, também sou brasileira e recentemente comecei a pintar com aquarela. O que mais me motivou foram os seus desenhos e o modo em que você pinta, é simplesmente adorável
A arte e o traço dela é incrível! Suas ilustrações são muito tops!😍
Jeez, for such cheap watercolours, you made it look so good!
This just proves that no matter what your price range is for art supplies your art can still come out incredible! 💙💙💙💙💙💙💖💖
this just proves you dont have to have the most expensive products to be a good artist, i love that!
A lot of people might be mad at the result of the so-called "Cheap Art Supplies Challenge." Remember that this shows you don't have to have a ton of money to make art but rather the passion and years of skill to create a masterpiece.
OMGG?!?!? Cara, te assisto a uma cota e só agora descubro que tu é brazuca!! Tua arte me inspira MUITO eu sinto que fiquei muito melhor na aquarela por causa tua 💜
When someone is able to make a true work of art without the need of using good art supplies, you know that is a real artist.
Rain smell is chill B) Great video and amazing art once again!
I’ve been watching you for a few years now and it’s always inspired me to create beautiful pieces like yours, You’ve always been my number one inspiration and I really love your style and how you can pull off something so complicated so effortlessly. Your shading, the way you layer colors, and they way you stoke your brush is just so....mesmerizing, when I watch you paint it always inspires me to do better and to put my heart into everything I do, thank you so much, for sharing this wonderful art.
That's amazing. I'll study hard and be like you someday💜 so please don't stop doing amazing arts✨❤

To be honest, this chalky, matte finish doesn't look bad at all, it's nice and could be useful sometimes. Also, as always, you did an amazing job with the light & shadows ❤️
There's already a medium for that, gouache. People don't want their watercolors to have chalky matte finishes if they did they would use gouache
Gah, this needs to be shown to young artists everywhere! Doesn't matter what you use as long as you know _how_ to use it.
The watercolors have actually got a decent pigment, I’m impressed. Great work from you! ❤️
I love how rain changes the colors of tree bark to be darker.. they are super beautiful
This just shows that it doesn't matter what art supplies you have you can make something butiful 😍
People who can make anything out of art are the real mvp’s
first: dammn u're awesome!!
segundo: mds tu é brasileira ahh
I remember doing this challenge for about 2 or 3 years every time I painted hehe! I was using a cheap less-than-$5 36 pan set for all the paintings I did yet people still really liked them. Goes to show that materials can only do so much!
PERA VOCÊ É BRASILEIRA????
aliás sua arte é incrível aaaaaaa
DON'T MATTER WHAT SHE USES, SHE STILL MAKES MASTERPIECES NO MATTER WHAT
Watching people do watercolour painting is so satisfying
The extra little bit of linework at the end really makes this!
I was freaking out about some random ass stuff literally 10 seconds ago and right when I clicked this video it calmed me
I like the fact that u always show your window before start painting🌻🌻
It cool how artist can make the cheapest of supplies shine real bright😎🤩😍
I'm so glad I'm not the only one experiencing the amount of rain. Been raining nonstop for two weeks here

Daaaaang, these are hard as rocks at first!! But punch a lot of colour! Maybe in a thicker paper they would even spread more.. nice!
Even when it's cheap you manage to make it beautiful
Looks just as good. You would never know. Lovely! :)

omg i really love your hands, they're sOOOOOO CUTE AAAH💕💘💖💖💗💖💘💕💘💖
As an artist I’m just gonna say... I LOVE YOUR ART STYLE
This challenge proves time and time again that you don't need to buy expensive art supplies to have quality art.
The Canson XL Mixed Media sketchbook is one of my favorites for quick watercolor sketches that don't use too much water. They're no more than usually $5 where I am in the U.S.
And despite how chalky those paints are they look pretty pigmented in the video. Pretty surprising for cheap paint.
ah omg! i was rewatching a lot of your old videos earlier!! i’m so happy you posted
I just discovered you now, where have you been all of my life?
caralho tu n tem sotaque nenhum. inglês perfeito da porra.
arte ótima como sempre tb
I love the smell of the earth when it rains too. So earthy and satisfying
You dont need expensive supplies to make amazing art and this just proves it.. cheap or not, i think if you know how to use it you will make a great art !
You proved that it's not in the materials but in the skills.
I love videos like this because it shows me that even though I can't afford expensive supplies, one day I can still make beautiful paintings
I am almost a 100% convinced that's rain's smell has a name but i can not remember :(
Edit: I found it and it's called petrichor jdjdjd it's a weird name in my opinion. love your work ❤️❤️

Wet soil??... Idk I like it 😅 and that's how I call that smell

Very nice work! Still looks professionally made!
I agree, that starting out with cheaper supplies is worth a try. Less fear of wasting something that costs a lot. : ) To be honest, I still use my water colors (in combination with high quality supplies) which I had when I was at elementary school. XD Mine are similar to the ones you use in the video, but a different brand called Pelikan. I think they're more of a medium quality than actually really cheap. The results are good, so I keep on useing them until they are empty. I liked the video. I would have been interested in how your feelings were while using these paints. Like some final thoughts at the end of the video. : ) (Hope you understand what I mean XD)
Your art piece looks so amazing, even with low quality watercolors.
Imagine my shock when I've been obsessing over your channel for almost 6 months now and not realizing until this very video you're brazilian too.
Im shook.
Also I own one kit just like this one. Wow.
I'm so... wowed. wow.
Wow i love this please make more cheap art supplies challenge ❤️

Man, I forgot how talented you are. :0
I love the earthy smell of rain as well. Or I believe it smells earthy
Adoro ver vc pintando!!!!!
that yellow was so pretty!
At the beginning of the video, that smell is called petrichor!
"Pet·ri·chor
noun
a pleasant smell that frequently accompanies the first rain after a long period of warm, dry weather"
also I'm a huge fan of your art!!!! I've been wanting to get seriously into watercolors for a while, but procrastination sucks (that and im so afraid to mess it up ;A;). tho you're a huge inspiration for me!!!!! keep being amazing!!!!!!!!!!
Lol cool I’m Brazilian too! What a coincidence! I live in America tho, but I go to Brazil in the summer to visit my family
I just found this channel and I already love it!
