I always thought it was kinda sad that Hank never received an Emmy for himself for LBD. I mean, he was one of the two actual CREATORS of the show. And I'm not saying that Bernie and the others didn't deserve their Emmy's, because of course they did, but it just makes me sad that Hank didn't get recognition by the Emmy's for something as great of his, that is LBD.

Didn't he? He's an executive producer. But maybe because it was only a Creative Arts Emmy? For a fringe category? But I think that means he still has one

I wish I found LBD when it was active. I found them less than a week ago, and have watched/obsessed over the entire thing twice. Thank you so much for all the work you put in, from social media accounts and so many other things. It was an incredible experience for me, and for everyone who has found them

I also wish I found them when it was active. But I would probably be too young to properly appreciate the experience, so in the end, I'm glad I found them when I found them. I just wanna experience following every fictional character on twt and seeing them tweet lol

So... I just watched ALL of the Lizzie Bennet Diaries, and Lydia's videos, and Charlotte's, AND Gigi's in about 3 days. I LOVE it soooo much. I think it was just a brilliant adaptation, and I REALLY like how much depth Lydia was given. And that she DIDN'T MARRY WICKHAM. That's probably the biggest thing that I'm happy was different. No more Wickham. Thank the lord.

The Lizzie Bennet diaries were the most worth wile thing I ever watched on the Internet. Seeing the dedication from the actors, the crew, the fans and you, I understand why you are sad. I'm a little sad that I can never watch it again for the first time, not knowing what's going to happen, but u can share it with other people, and that's just as good :) stay awesome Hank.

One of the strangest things for me was watching the Lydia videos when her relationship with Wickham was in the middle of turning toxic and seeing younger youtube commenters who hadn't read the book talk about how amazing and sweet and sensitive Wickham was being. "Awww, he'd beat up someone for her. He's so cute!" "He loves her so much!" It says a lot about how we perceive ideal romance in our culture (especially how it's presented to young people) and how that ties into spousal abuse.

  • @moviechic07

I totally understand in the aspect of an audience member, it was such a cool experience. Guessing whose gonna be Darcy, that wait between episodes. It was the one thing I looked forward to between classes in the library, the law and medical books section with encyclopedias and journals that have been there for at least half a century. So when I think of that old dusty library I think of LBD. But what hit me was was how immersive this show was with the social media. I mean its like we were in their world and it was such a cool experience as an audience member. They felt like real people to us and we were all compelled by it. Another experience that was similar was when I watched The Guild. Well done.

I think I tried my hardest to get people into the series before it was over exactly for the reason you said, Hank ... because it was so cool to be immersed in it while it was happening, especially the new year going forward. There was something particularly stunning about the storytelling once we got to Lizzie slowly falling for Darcy one day and Lydia slowly losing herself in Wickham the next.

I cann't thank you enough and the cast and crew for pushing on and not taking down the content... which exists until now :D If I may be so bold, I hope you guys can explore other series such as Anne of Green Gables, Romeo and Juliet, etc. Keep up the great work! The great thing about the Lizzie Bennet Diaries was truly that you felt like it was something real and something happening in real time to real people and you felt like you were a part of it. When you watch a movie straight through it isn't quite the same and you don't connect to the characters in the same way. I will always love the Colin Firth adaptation, but it will never fill me with the same kind of joy I had watching Lizzie Bennet. Thank you for this beautiful thing.

I was just pondering on the whole "you only experience for the first time once" think the other day. I was re-reading, and quire enjoying, Persuasion. I'm definitely a re-reader, and sometimes I like knowing what to look forward to, but sometimes I wish I could read something again with the anticipation of the first time.
I was too late for LBD, but I'm catching up now with EA, some hopefully I'll get to enjoy some of the "first time" experience with it :)

When LBD was first released I was teaching first year composition courses and would watch episodes in-between grading papers, texting fellow adjuncts who were as tied to P&P as I am. This moment will always be a favorite of mine - there was such joy in witnessing that "first run." However, I enjoy a rewatch pretty much as well as the first and just finished a rewatch last week. Love love love

I looked forward to each new tweet, post, and particularly the videos like the characters were real people whose lives I was peering into. Thank the entire LBD team for making such a strong emotional connection with the audience. One of my favorite things about LBD was looking out for all of the real-time extras on twitter etc and then frantically getting in touch with other people I knew who watched LBD to talk about the implications of these things. It made it so I got to have really interesting conversations with some people I am not super close with but who are really cool and thoughtful, so that was a thing I liked a lot. I miss it now.

I have a friend who watched LBD having never encountered P&P before. Part of what I looked forward to with LBD was seeing how what I knew was going to happen next would be interpreted. I am constantly surprised by how many people haven't read or had any contact with things that I thought were just an essential part of british culture (I'm english) and it kind of makes me sad how these things are sort of being forgotten. So I'm really thankful to people like hank for brining them back.

I thought that made those videos all the more important. It was horrifying to watch, knowing what was actually happening, yet not wanting to believe it, but I think it was a brilliant way of drawing awareness to how domestic abuse is not necessarily always physically violent. That it is psychological as well. In many ways, though it was difficult to watch them they were my favourite part of the LBD story because of the powerful message they had behind them, conscious or not.

I thought the real-time aspect of LBD was one of the best and most unique things this adaptation of Pride and Prejudice could do. You can watch the movie in two hours or the miniseries in 5 or read the book in a few days, but only the LBD video blogs out of any adaptation I've seen could recreate a real sense of the book's timeline, and part of what came with that was all the anticipation and creativity and it was awesome.

As the episodes progressed and their was lots of discussion about plot and character development and I wanted to know what it was all about! So I read the book and I could suddenly join in discussion and have a known perspective on the matter. Also from reading Pride and Prejudice I got to lots more classics - so LBD also improved my literary skills!
