20-Minute JUMP ROPE HIIT Workout to Lose Weight

  • Here's why I love jumping rope (and why I love this particular workout):
    • Jumping rope for 10 minutes is the equivalent of running a 8-minute mile
    • Jumping rope can burn 200-300 calories in 15 minutes
    • It improves coordination
    • It reduces injury risk
    • It can improve cardiorespiratory fitness
    • It can strengthen bone density
    • It can improve heart health
    • It promotes calmness
    If you don't have a jump rope, you can just jump without one. I won't tell!

    Gurl I hopped outta bed this morning and did this whole workout and now I feelin like a fit queen cause of you!! I love your workouts they're unique and killer! Love you and the vids! This one is different than any other jump rope workouts and I love it because of the breaks! Perfect and will never get old! I played some Chris Brown in the background and I was jumpin like a maniac! Thank you, Rachel, you're truly a fitness queen!

    Been eyeing this workout for a minute and I won’t lie, I was intimidated by it. But I want to push my body in this weight loss/fitness journey I’m on and so I decided to give it a try. Loved it. Sweating a lot (how I like it) and the variations made it quite fun. I’m so grateful you started making videos because you’re literally my favourite fitness youtuber rn.

    I already did the workout a few times before today, but I stopped, because it was so hard, and I didn't have much motivation or strength, and for a few weeks, I did another one, that I found easier. But today, I thought : "If I don't do it now, I'll never be able to surpass myself". So I did the workout, and I am really glad I did ; I had so much fun. Thank youu !

    I'm planning to jump rope or take a walk for 20 min every day . And today has my first day so I've Just finished your another 10 min jump rope ( did it twice) and now receive this amazing video, I'm soooo excited that tomorrow I'll not have to repeat the exercise thanks to this new video, I'll be able to choose which video I want to do and is really cool!!! Also was so fun today , I'm excited to try this one tomorrow ( Can't do today because my legs left me with the another workout 😂)

    I burn over 100 calories every time I do this. I'm 4'10 and I weigh 139. I'm trying to get to 135. Today I burned 144 doing this. When I cool down I still burn calories after.

    When te goal is to lose un thigh fat for example (include healthy diet...) can I do a workout monday for example and then I do a different one the others days? And keep seeing result? +combined with abs, weight training, hiit cardio, booty..

    I am new to jumping with an actual rope and the tendons in the inside of the tibial part near my feet really started to hurt midway. Is this normal or are there any form tips anyone can give me to make this better or avoid it?

    WEEK 1, DAY 1- 30 pounds overweight (well, 27.2 pounds exactly), extremely miserable at life/soul-sucking job, haven’t worked out in about 2 months due to a colorful collection of excuses and had to put my treadmill away in storage due to current circumstances. Picked up a jump rope I bought nearly a decade ago and have probably never used- this workout was impressively challenging! @67% mark, already counting down to how many minutes and rounds were left. Is this video REALLY 20:33 long?!?! Because while trying (and failing) to follow along, it feels AT LEAST double that. Almost gave up at the 75% point….feebly went through the motions during the entire 80-90% frame….but was able to successfully do the LAST “four singles + four doubles” because I knew this torture was about to end. I’m hoping to continue doing this video at least 5 days a week for the next 16 weeks. We’ll see! Feeling: 🥲😫🙏🏼

      WEEK 1, DAY 2- I woke up at 3:00 AM today to drink some water AND I FELT LIKE I WAS A NEWBORN GIRAFFE 🦒, IN THAT, I COULDN’T WALK AND HARDLY STAND. MY CALVES HURT SO SO MUCH! All day long, I was in pain- not the type where I needed pain meds- just the type where it was uncomfortable as hell to stand or walk! I seriously considered not doing this workout today 😅 (like Jim Gaffigan said- “well, I don’t need to work out EVERYDAY- maybe just every OTHER day. my muscles need to BREATHE!”) but my unhappiness with my health and how uncomfortable my body feels at my current weight overpowers whatever discomfort my calves felt so HERE I AM! I was surprised at how well I felt following along today! I went at a way slower pace than Day 1 and I was able to follow through better than I did yesterday! I AM super uncoordinated (it’s why I can’t dance!) so the side to side jumps are still really hard for me- I get so tangled up! Good thing no one is watching me 👀. My bladder isn’t doing so good so maybe I need to get that checked out but my calves make me wonder- can I get a DVT from jumping rope? 🤔 I gotta look that up. Otherwise, I’m glad I did this today. I almost felt that “runner’s high” I’ve always heard about and when I checked my heart rate, it was up to 196 BPM (is that accurate?! Can’t I die from that?! Can jumping rope cause a heart attack?! Another thing I must look up!). All in all, I’m feeling (mentally) better. Also, I really enjoy the AD cut right in the middle of this video- it lets me know I’m halfway done 🙌🏼😅

      WEEK 1, DAY 3- I got sick with an awful cold yesterday and the day before I lost track of time with all my errands after work and just ran out of time so there went my 2 days of rest for the week! I was able to follow along better today with this video but at a wayyyy slower pace/tempo. I was *finally* able to do the “side to side jumps” successfully without getting all tangled up at the 29% time mark today! 🙌🏼 it only took 3 days for me to NOT get all twisted and tangled up with my rope in that part! 😅 I was able to do it successfully 3 times today this time so YEAH-YA! 😎 curiously though, the breaks felt A LOT shorter than usual this time- my heart rate didn’t go up to 188 like it has in the past and I did feel better coordinated and balanced this time around. Alright- it’s getting late. I’ll try to be back tomorrow 🙌🏼

      WEEK 1, DAY 4 - TGIFF Today work was especially horrid. Worked 4.5 hours overtime for free and didn’t even get to finish the work on my last case since the system was down since it was midnight in the time zone our systems are headquartered at 😑 I bloody hate my job with the passion of a thousand suns! Didn’t get to eat my lunch/dinner till 10pm. Didn’t get to do my exercise timely and almost skipped it due to my depression but I’ve commuted to this shit and I did it- ended this session right at 11:41 PM - still counts as a timely entry for me! Hells yeah! I stumbled a lot this time but mostly because of my anger and hatred towards myself and my job. But I did this so it’s a win! 4 days in a row 😎 hells yeah! I also realized I’m going at about half this woman’s tempo- she does about 67 single jumps a set and I am doing 33-34 and pretty much the same pace throughout. I’ll catch up to her. Note to self though- not good to eat dinner before doing this but eh, if I don’t eat dinner and exercise when I can, I’m even more screwed than I already am 🙃 damn. Here’s to the weekend -

      WEEK 1, DAY 5- I DID IT! Completed the first full week of this! My heart rate only went up to 165 (that I noticed) and this time, my son counted along and we realize I am doing 37 jumps a set- so still at half the tempo that this video goes. I also realize I may need a new jump rope- maybe that’s why I got so tangled at first. I need a need one! All good! Back for week 2 hopefully 😅

      WEEK 2, DAY 1- I actually came back 😭 it’s almost 11 pm, I’m mentally exhausted and NOT in the mood but I did it. Back at it! This time, I had to jump rope in my daughter’s room- carpet does NOT bode well with this. I think I left a permanent dent in her carpet but I got an old/new jump rope that is WAY better! I did get more tangled up this time- not sure f it’s because how exhausted/wobbly I feel, or because I did this on carpet or because I am currently in shark week; maybe it’s all the above! But it’s done for today. So glad! I checked my weight 2 days ago and I gained a pound - LMAOOOOO. going the wrong way but whatevs. I feel like I’m getting better at this! Still going half the tempo of the video but I’ll get there soon. It’s all good. Hasta mañana, primero Dios! 🙏🏼

      It was for me too. Practicing that set without the rope and miming the action of swinging while double jumping helped me get it down pretty quickly
