      I can't help but think that the boyfriend isn't aware of half of the shit his woman does. lol If a group of friends is so determined to split them up, it makes me wonder if his girlfriend was talking badly about him.
      She could also just be playing nice now because she realized she missed out on the planned trip and really wants to go still. Which he seemed to have rescheduled for them pretty quickly. I could be paranoid, though. lol Typically if there is red flags, which there was, then something was going on.

      While this post has little info, the GF seems to have always been more empathetic than the toxic waste she was with. Likely staying with them because they were popular and liked her. Spending two days alone torn up about the birthday mishap, with her "friends" not even checking on her, and the resulting attack after getting back together with her boyfriend has clearly given her a reality check.
      Some people are just in bad situations and they don't realize it. I can't say if the GF is a bitch or what her plan is. I can say it looks like she realized how shit her friends were. Only time will tell what happens, but I hope it's a happy ending.

      I think the friend-group was threatened by how good he was for her.
      He was a challenge to the power they had over her, which made him their enemy.
      Yes, he's a bit weak (or possibly meek), which is why the friend-group probably 'approved' of him at the start. They thought he was someone easily manipulated like all the other guys they gravitate to.
      But when he showed some spine, stuck to his guns and made his gf face actual consequences for her behavior, that put him in the enemy camp.
      A guy that isn't so easily manipulated is a direct threat to their own ability to control their world--and the GF who was up to that point submissive to their group. It gave the GF a point of reference to compare the behaviors, and exposed their toxicity to her. And gave her the option to walk away from that toxicity.

    Had a long relationship that lasted for almost 8 years. The woman I was with chose to hang out with her friends instead of me more often. I saw her no more than 2 days tops each week. This lasted for 3 months before it all came crashing down. They manipulated her into cheating on me and after I had left our apartment and moved back to my old hometown she begged for my return. She really screwed herself. The only reason she came knocking desperately was simply because she had believed that her so-called friends had used her for their own entertainment. I had warned her of their blatant attempts, but she of course didn't believe me. It's her own fault and she has to live with her enormous mistake for the rest of her life.

    • @JB-bb4su
      @JB-bb4su Před 4 měsíci +4

      I see it as a sign she tends towards a submissive, conflict-averse personality. The BF also demonstrates similar characteristics. That's not necessarily a bad thing, if it's not abused. Submissive-type friends can be a calming and peacekeeping influence in a group, because they're generally not adding to drama.
      But submissive doesn't mean "weak". If pushed, they are capable and willing to stand up for themselves.
      However, I do have some concerns for this couple moving forward. If they both tend towards submission, neither one is going to be comfortable being the "leader" in the relationship. They've already demonstrated communication problems due to this. And communication problems can be fatal to relationship health.

    Plus the dawning of the "Why am I taking relationship advance from a group that go through boyfriends like they are cookies?" Here's the thing: gender-swap the friends, cause your heart did.
    In other words, consider the situation as if she went out to get wasted around male friends without you. Or she might consider how she'd feel if you were hanging around girls other than her for your bday with the only comsolation being "we have been friends since forever."
    Now that decision cost her a romantic getaway she couldn't have gone on anyways, and it is up to her to stand by her choice and not blame you.

    • @Maninawig
      @Maninawig Před 4 měsíci +8

      @@AriaRosetti it is, and that's why this works. If gender is your only argument why something is OK, then gender swapping is a good way to test your perception.
      Here's another more obvious example: say she came back and said "they got me plastered and we fooled around a bit, but it's not cheating cause they are my girl friends." Would it be cheating? Would saying no not be disrespecting the mongomy of bisexuals? Or would it be understandable if the boyfriend was upset then?
      In this case, they weren't fooling around, but she did reject her boyfriend from spending such a special day with her simply relying on gender as a free hall pass. In turn, those same friends were using gender to excuse being vile people.

    • @ssfn1_
      @ssfn1_ Před 4 měsíci

      @@ManinawigThat's an assumption not an example, it has nothing to do with the story presented. Also, gender swapping the friends and not the girlfriend's makes no sense because it's just natural for a girl to have girl friends. Spending time with girls is never the same as spending time with boys, no matter who you are, and if you think they're the same thing you're just stupid

    • @Karen-uq3jy

      I'm sorry, but how is this relevant? And how did he 'gender-swap her friends in his heart'?

    • @Maninawig
      @Maninawig Před 4 měsíci +5

      @@Karen-uq3jy allow me to clarify: if one wants to try and see things from another person's point of view, they might be blocked by their own biases. I have always found that a good way to override such biases is to flip the script and see if the sentiment holds true. This especially works with emotional responses, such as figuring out why someone might be upset at you.
      If the girlfriend cannot see the problem with saying "I would rather spend my birthday with my friends than with my boyfriend" because "they are all girls," then it is worth considering if the statement holds true by swapping the genders of the subject (such as if her bf said that, or if the friends were all male). It would sound wrong if a guy wanted to spend time drinking with a bunch of girls away from the girlfriend....
      So that realization might bring about some self-reflection and discover that the issue is with the word "rather," and opt to change that to "I wanna spend my b-day with _both_ my boyfriend and my friends." Or, "I wanna hang out with my friends for my birthday, then have a more romantic celebration with my boyfriend."
      In sort (cause sometimes my clarifications aren't clear), the issue isn't that girls shouldn't have girls nights or guys shouldn't have guys nights. Rather that flipping the script can help us uncover a bias we might be blind to.

    She doesn't do anything without consulting her friends first. None of them have long term relationships and they're mostly single. The first thing she does when they get in a fight is go to her friends and tell them about it. You have to know they are all trashing you. As much as she wants to say she doesn't partake in that, you know she is. The social pressure is strong.
    This story ended up okay because she let them go and grew past them, but that was straight up luck man. Fellas, if you meet a chick like this, it isn't worth the trouble. That group of women will be keeping each other single for as long as they are friends because it's a feedback loop. The single ones have to trash relationships to justify to themselves why they're single. Anybody else in the circle that gets in a relationship will constantly be berated the more serious it becomes until they give in to the social pressure and break up and are single along with the rest of the crew again.
    Having friends that are single is not a bad thing on its own, but if she doesn't have a balance of friends in committed relationships as well, then it's only a matter of time before her friends start causing problems for your relationship because she wont have the committed relationship friends to fall back on for help with the issues in her relationship. The only advice she'll be getting is from the single friends which will all say to break up.

I've never once felt like a jerk when I knew I was right. If the tables were reversed, would she feel like a jerk? Nope. She'd think she's right. So take the win. Order some food, watch your favorite movie, chill out and enjoy the peace and tranquility of expressing your feelings.

    The GF is acting like she is a young teenager, asking for permission from her friends before she can do anything like going on a date is stupid. You tried to get her to be with you on her birthday yet she denied it and went out with friends instead ao why wouldnt you cancel the break away. Im glad she eventually saw how immature and toxic her so called friends were and decided to pick OP over her so called friends, what her friends did proves that they are toxic and controling people.

    • @bythedead1
      @bythedead1 Před 4 měsíci +9

      She didn't know about the trip, my assumption is when she found out about it she a) felt annoyed she missed out on the beach trip, b) felt guilty she ditched her boyfriend and made him cancel it. Feeling annoyed and guilty and not liking those feelings she, like an immature arse, turned it round on him so it was 'all his fault' and she didn't have to then feel bad about it. This is why a lot of people say women totally lack accountability.
