  • Ian Reviews the Midlength Crisis
    www.boardshop.co.uk/brands/py...
    It's here at last, and the choice of which mid length to add to your quiver just got a little bit harder, the Pyzel Mid Length Crisis surfboard is an essential for any serious surfer. The Mid Length Crisis is a great looking board to compete with the likes of the CI Mid or Skindog Ova and given Jon Pyzel's track record on boards in the last few years you know its going to work!
    The board is an easy paddling but responsive and loose feeling mid, bags of glide for weaker waves but all the performance drive and gold you need when conditions improve. You can surf this board in anything from knee to overhead waves. Flattish rocker, forward wide point, meat under the chest and nicely foiled rails, all the boxes are well and truly ticked. The spiral vee concave and curvy outline help the board move from rail to rail relatively easily so even for lower level surfers you can get the board moving.
    As always the quality of finish is outstanding, only the best materials are permitted by Pyzel. the glassing is a 4oz bottom with 6/4oz deck for added strength, the minimal extra weight this carries does the board no hard at all in terms of drive and speed. Fin wise its a 2 + 1 set up, you can ride as a single of course but a standard 6.5" to 7.5" single fin with sides bites will work depending on the length of board and your weight.
    Sizing your Mid Length Crisis is pretty straightforward...think about what you want the board to do for you, and the kind of waves you'll be surfing it in, a good example is Ian here who has ordered a 6' 10 at 41.9 litres to maximise wave count through the winter but still be able to get it turning. If you are coming down from a longboard then go bigger for an easier transition but as always we're here to help with any questions. If you're considering the Mid Length Crisis as your first proper mid lengths board or if you want a more forgiving ride, then you'll need to go a little longer to get the required volume.
    Jon Pyzel was raised in California, Santa Barbara to be exact and first started surfing while in junior high. Jon soon became hooked on surfing and was riding boards shaped by Carpinteria and Rincon Designs legend Matt Moore. Matt put Jon on his team and always took time to explain the finer points of surfboard shaping and surfboard design with Jon often watching-on as Matt shaped his boards.
    Fast forward to 1992 and Jon made a permanent move to Oahu’s North Shore where he picked up work repairing boards at Country Surfboards. Jon then started working with master shaper and North Shore legend Jeff Bushman who used Jon as his back-shaper which proved to be the start of a glossy career in surfboard design and shaping.
    Don't forget you can also order a customised version of this surfboard choosing your exact dims, fin set up and fin system, check out our customizer service at Boardshop right now. All you need to do is pump in the details and pay a £100 deposit with the balance due when we send you the board, average build time is 3-4 weeks.
    We're happy to consider taking your old board as a trade-in against a new one, so If you have any questions regarding this we'd be delighted to answer them and advise on any potential board choices, just drop us an email info@boardshop.co.uk or call us on 0044 (0) 1243 674250

    WANT :) looks amazing . I don't (only) ride that kind of board to get more waves. i love the feeling of power and acceleration i get from them in sub headhigh waves, doing a cutback or Top turn feels like I accomplished something, there is some sort of feedback I don't get from a shortboard (in small surf under 6 feet) .

    Nose and tail looked more pulled in than the CI Mid, reckon it could be a weapon in solid winter waves.

      For sure. I can do it all.

    Looks great. How does the mid life crisis compare to the Ci Mid? If you had to pick one which would it be? Both boards look good.

      Great question. They are not too similar, the rocker is very different, drop us an email and we can explain a full breakdown on this. Hit us up at info@boardshop.co.uk

    Wondering if this goes well as a twin, I would say that it will, however it might look like the fin placement for a twin setup might be a tad forward.

    • @BoardshopUK
      @BoardshopUK  Před rokem +1

      It isn't deigned for it. the fin boxes would be moved ideally.

    Do these board works on mushy/weaker waves? or only on "good" hollow waves?

    • @BoardshopUK
      @BoardshopUK  Před 2 lety +2

      100%. We surf South Coast UK waves on ours all the time and these are mushy and weaker!

    Hi mate how would you compare this to the seaside and beyond? PU vs epoxy and does the crisis hold up better in bigger waves?

    • @BoardshopUK
      @BoardshopUK  Před rokem

      Hard to compare with such differing style. We would say for bigger waves the weigh of the PU hold in better and eps can be chattery.

    Hi there was looking at this in a 6”10,riding a 6”8 seaside and beyond after putting some weight on and bogging rail on my 5”8 seaside,love the seaside and beyond but been sliding out a little on barrelling waves,off to indo for winter at end of season and back to about 84k do you find the
    pyzel holds better in bigger stuff?

    • @BoardshopUK
      @BoardshopUK  Před rokem

      Thanks again. For 84kgs, go 6ft 10. This will be perfect. The board goes in almost any wave and ideal for Indo and many other waves.

    Has anyone tried it as a quad? I recently ordered one with the center single and a quad set up. Will update on how it goes

    How do you compare this to the chili mid strenght?

    • @BoardshopUK
      @BoardshopUK  Před 2 lety

      Close. Both are great to surf and have good performance for a longer board. Pyzel has a bigger wave range,

  • @andio310
    @andio310 Před 2 lety +1

    How is this board different than the mid6? Thanks

    • @BoardshopUK
      @BoardshopUK  Před 2 lety

      Hard to compare as they are very different, with the Mid 6 having channels and surfing best as a quad.
