I don't know how many times I can watch this? Maybe as many times as I've seen the movie, Endless!!!!
'
its so cool
I listen to this at least once a week. Thank you!
I never expected to be so thrilled by a rendition of "Do-Re-Mi" ! Wonderful performance!
What's more you can see Morjolein moving to the music! It's hard not to enjoy yourself listening to such a masterful performance let alone being a part of it!
That’s was unexpected Gert I’m catholic and attempt organ at church the sound of music is so uplifting I’m tempted to play it before mass, love all your music god bless.
Wonderful performance Gert and Marjolein, played with a great virtuosity! Love it very much!
I first saw this movie in 1964. Gert you play this sooooo well. I love it
No matter how I feel, hearing this makes me smile. Thank you sir.
My warmest and heartedly childhood memories revolve around this film and its music
Once again, so beautiful! Another outstanding display of musicality watching the slow buildup and then an giant crescendo. Beautiful! Beautiful! Beautiful!
The sound of music is one of my favorite musicals, I'm so glad you posted this video. This is an absolutely beautiful arrangement! I love it!!
yankee1219 ...made an old fella happy here in New Zealand...loved The Sound of Music since 1965....
Lovely arrangement and performance. Well done Gert!!
This is as good as it gets. It's lovely work. Thank you!
Congratulations Gert, the lovely, relaxed phrasing doesn't reflect the intense work you've put in to the transcription. All else aside, you're clearly a very gifted musician. We should also give thanks to Richard Rodgers, the sublime songster who created such wonderfully 'happy' music.
That was brilliant, Gert!! Such an accurate arrangement of the original score, and perfectly executed.
As host and producer of the Dutch version of the Singalong Sound of Music I must say, this excellent performance brings back sweet and good memories. Chapeau!
I totally agree!
I love Gert his plai
Sir, you are a good man and great organist. Keep your eyes on God and you shall be blessed beyond measure. How fortunate, because of your talent that you and your family, including young Thomas will probably get to see the world eventually. Please come to the USA Gert, we love you over here too.
Christopher, doesn't God bless anyone who doesn't keep their eyes on "Him" above? So, keeping eyes on him (and capitalizing pronouns) is what God wants and the way God wants God's creation to behave? So, if you're not keeping your eyes on "Him" above, then God will not bless you? God will be mean to you? Trying to understand that religion. So, eyes down, one is in big trouble with God? And God will just not bless you, just for that?
I wouldn't come to the US. I'd be afraid of getting shot by some lunatic. ...or by some gang banger. ...or by a cop. etc...
Dan Nieto Imagine being so vapid you come to a video of a man in a church playing a church organ just to complain about religion being present
henning flat I’m sorry you feel that way. I’d encourage you to think on that some more. Existence is a pretty vast thing, and the likelihood it’s just happenstance is so slim it’s almost literally 0.
Not trying to sound sardonic, but I’ll keep you in my prayers.
Stay well.
Christopher Rychlik and@@dannieto1453: The answer to what "does God allow, and justifies," has historically been explained by religious society as "Free-Will." As defined, God "allows" us to have the free-will to make our own decisions, and assume God will forgive the Sins of each human in the afterlife. "Eyes on God" is meaningless; because it can encompass everything that "WE know" about how God will measure us, but decide with His own Rules, leaving us to figure it out for ourselves. Good luck.
Listening while on my lunch break. Wonderful.
WOW! This treat helped me recover from the long drive home from the concert in Hanley Stoke on Trent to Northern Ireland. You two are amazing. Gert you are an inspiration.
Despite my ever growing admiration and affection for you and the spendid work you do, Gert, I didn't really expect to enjoy THIS as much as i did. It seems no matter WHAT you choose to transcribe and perform you almost can't help but bring a joyful, especially endearing,, always fascinating quality to your playing that's truly irresistible. I havwn't been able to bring myself to interrupt one of your videos yet. Ialways sut here TRANSFIXED. Your interpretations of Bach, Vierne, and Widor are deeply serious and superbly played. Your TRANSCRIPTIONS place you in a UNIQUE class of performers who can edify, enlighten, and pleasantly entertain equally at once. In short you seem to have EVERYTHING and MORE. God bless you and keep you and your dear family. By the way your always lovely wife, Marjolein, looks especially BEAUTIFUL in this video. I imagine your little Thomas must love hearing you play Rodgers and Hammerstein too!
Do-Re-Mi - how awesome!! Delightful arrangement! Thank You!!
Wow. Bert is dancing at the end. Love it
What more could one ask for in this selection and done by such a talented musician and his bride helping him. Keep it going Gert.
Another branch of Gert's amazing musicianship. Fantastic arrangement and playing.
How lovely to hear this young lad play the sound of music 🎶. Fantastic xx
Just lovely. This definitely shows how a beautiful organ can sound when played by a great organist.
What I found so endearing is seeing both of you moving in unison to the music. During "Somewhere In My Youth" you were looking at each other and smiling. How blessed you both are, united by the love you share and the music you play.
Gert -wonderful !
Geweldig
That my Friend was Absolutely Awesome! What a Gift from God you have!
Dat laatste stukje met Do-Re-Mi! Waanzinnig!!! Klasse Gert

Really splendid performance! Nice, enjoyable, powerful and subtle altogether. I so much liked it ... and it is impressive to see Marjolein not just as an assistant but co-emotionalist and genuine synchrone worker. Well done!
Watched in a theater the year it came out. Thanks.

¡Precioso! Magnifico organista. Felicidades por tu trabajo y tu familia desde España. ¡Enhorabuena!
Absolutely stunning! But I missed "Climb every mountain"
Lieve Gert,
Gert you are an inspiration to all young organists, I found you on here and cannot wait till the next recital well done.from a chap in the U.K.
Absolutely wonderful. You are living proof that the Pipe Organ is capable of so much more , than just limiting it to composers from 200 years ago. I recognize that they have their place, but modern music truly does to. Thank you, most enjoyable.
Timeless songs. First time I'm hearing the organ version & by Gert. As usual he excels. Marjolein is moving with the music.& looks stunning, younger of course.
I love your rendition of these show tunes so much, Gert. I have been looking forward to the video of this medley since I first heard it on the CD. Kudos for an excellent job! I especially enjoyed the uptempo Do, Re, Mi song. Thanks for sharing !
Magnificent !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great arrangement Gert!
Pleasant indeed…more of the same, please!
AMAZING!!!!
As a pianist I am fascinated by skilled organists such as yourself. Very solid gorgeous version
Epic. Bravo Gert.
Ah, what to say, my smile just got bigger and bigger as you played on...terrific arrangement ....thank you!
I wish the closing shot had gone on just a little longer...you both were having such fun. : ))) John W.
I agree, don't stop the video just because the music stops, just seems so abrupt an ending to a fine work.
Geweldig deze opname van The Sound of Music.
Oostenrijk is ons favoriete vakantieland. Groeten, Peter en Adriana
Gert, You did such a beautiful job with your arrangement of the Sound of Music I was in tears. Many years ago I Played "The Captain" in that musical at The Blackstone Theater in Chicago with a well known group. Thank you for a job well done! Many Blessings on your continued success! Fr. Len ✝✝
This is at least 15th time listening this piece! Finlandia is also one of my favorite piece. Gert plays so good, that listening his playing I feel like being in Heaven already.
Brilliant!
Beautiful
OMG, Gert. I thought I was the only one who played the Sound of Music on the organ. All you ever hear it played on is the piano. That was MAGNIFICENT!
Watching Gert I always half expect him to launch off! he is so physical, so energetic an organist as well as a highly gifted improvisater and arranger.
Heel Mooie Gert and Marjolein ... MagicalPipes :)
Bravo fantastic
Bravo! Bravo! Excellent performance Please come to New York to do a concert👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
