Gert Van Hoef is a heaven-sent genius. His unbelievable and rare ability to make a magnificent organ come alive and speak to us in an eternal way is truly remarkable. The tears of indescribable emotion moved by this beautiful and immensely talented man are quite difficult to control. Thank you Gert!
Such a beautiful man with a talent blessed by God, living such a wonderful life spreading joy in all the great cathedrals around the world. I love everything about Gert!
The finale of this piece just leaves you very satisfied. That's the only way I can describe it. Absolutely brilliant improvising Gert.

I like these videos showing Gert arriving in a new town with his entourage of friends and helpers. Then he tries out the organ and starts to get used to it. Gert's playing is always a joy to listen to. And he is such a lovely guy. At 7.44 he starts to play one of his favourite melodies. His improvistaion on this theme is glorious and pure Gert van Hoef!
Wow ! This is an eye-opener ! I knew he was coming to record a CD on our marvellous church organ, one of the most melodious in Europe; but what a talent. thank you gert and please come and enjoy us again. Allways welcome in Geraardsbergen.

Sorry, I've already added my opinions. But this improvised music called "Hope" is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. And to hear it played by Gert brings tears to my eyes. Are there words to this???

Absolutely! I would love to meet him and have him do a program here at the Cathedral, and/or any other suitable venue. There is a great musicality and spirituality that comes through in his playing.

I'm compelled to comment! Love it! What talent you have. What singles you out from other great organ talents is your willingness and ability to express the breadth of what you feel inside as you play the music . This is what transports your performances into the stratosphere. I used to play the organ in church, but never developed further, unfortunately. Yet I seem to feel what you feel as you play and much of the time am in sync with the way you express yourself. And it's just such a marvelous and moving experience. I just found you today and immediately subscribed. I've already listened to a couple of hours now and am looking forward to many more hours of such bliss. Thank you Gert for being you. Never hold back what you feel inside as you play. That will be the key to your future.

I agree, Gert, you're an absolutely brilliant talent! I've been a great fan of yours ever since I heard you play for the first time... when my jaw literally dropped below my knees :) Right, not only the music (improvisation in particular), but your general modest behavior makes all that experience just top notch. Plus the quality of the recordings is really good (in comparison to many other pieces found on YT).

So sorry that the venue is of concern to you. Looking at it the other way Gert could be a "protestant heretic" in a Catholic House of God. But none of this matters. He is a great musician and organist. Just listen to this wonderful piece of music.

Geweldig om mijn dag met dit filmpje te beginnen. Daar word ik helemaal vrolijk van. Het orgel klinkt heel fraai, met aan het eind een indrukwekkende bas. Hopelijk horen we van het concert nog iets.

Have just discovered you as I was searching for Charles Vidor's Toccata. I found many, but yours was the one that made the hairs stand up on arms...just magical. Each of your videos are like opening a gift. Thank you. The Myerson Symphony Hall in Dallas, Texas has a wonderful organ that could use your talent.

Es macht immer wieder sehr große Freude, den jungen Organist Gert van Hoeft an der Orgel bzw. den verschiedenen Orgelinstrumenten zu sehen und ihn darauf spielen zu hören. Wir, meine Lebensgefährtin und ich kommen am 24. August dieses Jahres von Düsseldorf nach Breda und hoffen, Gert in der Groten Kerk sehen und spielen zu hören. Viele Grüße auch an die namentlich unbekannte Assistentin und entsprechend an die vielen Assistenten. Ansonsten grüßen wir auch alle Menschen aus Holland recht herzlich!

Das ist für mich die schönste Version von Hope, einfach phantastisch! Und davor die Ankunft der Königin von Saba ebenso ein Hochgenuß! Und zwischendurch zu sehen wie ein hochbegabter Organist eine so wundervolle Orgel, sichtlich mit großer Freude ausprobiert ist auch ein Hochgenuß. Ich werde in diesem Jahr auf jeden Fall einige Orgelkonzerte von Gert van Hoef besuchen, vielleicht in Verbindung eines Besuchs der wunderschönen Tulpenblüte in Holland.
Wish I could go to one of Gert's concerts in person, but I will enjoy the next best thing: his videos full-screen mode where I have a front-row seat!!!!!

KlausAnton, I would love nothing more than to visit England again. I saw the organ at Kings College Chapel I believe in Cambridge a long time ago and was mesmerized by the sound. Unfortunately, I have someone in my family in poor health and I take care of them. ( I am a nurse). So if you can make the concert, go for both of us, please and relay my best to Gert and Marjolein!!!!!

Organ competition in London on the 28th of December in two days time?
I will be playing the complete version of Toccata and Fugue in D minor. I actually only started really learning it on the 16th of December. No clue how I have done it, as I only started playing the organ in September...
+William Lewis I'm not even grade 1 yet and Toccata and Fugue is grade 8+ (I checked the Trinity (or was it Royal) college of music website)

A nice diversion from your normal enjoyable performances. Would like to hear you perform a selection from, Phantom of the Opera, " All I Ask Of You. " I believe your improvision of this beautiful song would be a pleasure.
