    I have to wonder if it was not the HEAT, but rather the huge magnetic impulse the metal was subjected to as it carried all that current for a millisecond.

    Prior to his being drafted into the US Army for WW1, MOH recipient Sgt. Alvin York, who at the time was drunk and on his way to kill a man, was riding his horse in a thunderstorm when his blackpowerder rifle was struck by lightning. The barrel of his rifle was bent over and split by lightning.
    York took it as a sign from God to change his ways. He became a deeply religious man, causing him to request to have a deferment as a conscientious objector to the war. He was denied his deferment.

    I won't lie the way the bayonet is curved it looks basically fake
