What this video did not cover is the light displays in American neighborhoods which often compete against one another with entire neighborhoods involved. You have to tune into a local radio station to hear the synchronized music that goes along with each display. They are amazing and the extent that people go to is astonishing!
When a next door neighbor puts out more Christmas lights than me, I put out a lighted sign that says "DITTO".
I have a neighbor who goes all out and his direct next door neighbors do the ditto sign 🤣🤣
Is it similar to the arrow, idk what ditto means 😅
@@zenjeongrebelle1808 means the same thing again. It’s used to indicate that something already said is applicable a second time.
@@zenjeongrebelle1808 for example. If I write a comment that says, "I love this vid!". You can comment under with "ditto"
@@SilverFang95 The original "ME TOO!!!".
My friends started decorating his place when he purchased it like 10 years ago. Now his neighbors on both sides let him use their front lawns to extend the display. People always ask him each year if he is putting it up. What's surprising is that his HOA never bothers him about how big it has gotten.
That's awesome that the neighbors get into the spirit. We like welcoming people.
It wasn't surprising that the Palm Springs display (#12) had to be shut down because the neighbors were such losers that they couldn't deal with just a few weeks in the year bringing fantastic cheer. Palm Springs is known for disagreeable citizens who don't like outsiders encroaching on their town.
The installation of the light displays may begin in August or September but the display is not typically turned on until after Thanksgiving (last Thursday of November). These displays are labour-intensive and take months of planning and many installation hours. Keeping in mind that these people usually have full-time jobs and do this during weekends and any free time they have.
My city of Chandler, Arizona may not have the biggest Christmas display, but we have one of the most unique. Every year, city workers go out into the desert and collect about a thousand tumbleweeds and build a 35 foot Christmas tree. They attach the tumbleweeds to a frame and spray it with white fire retardant paint and glitter. Then they wrap the tree with 1000s of LED lights. It's so beautiful and a perfect tree for a desert city.
13:10 As a Baltimore resident, the Miracle on 34th Street is a must see if you’re in town for Christmas
I live in the Baltimore area and I agree 100%
One of my favorite displays growing up is an artist that lived near me named Jim Gray. He made dinosaurs out of car parts, and every Christmas he decorated his dinosaurs in lights.
Dynabody to Dinobody ?
Kabir, you should check out this show we have here in the US called The Great Light Fight. It is a contest where families compete to see who has the best and most extreme Christmas lights on their home and property with a winning prize of $50,000.00. These homes that compete in this competition are over the top and are on an extreme level. You wouldn't believe some of these homes. You'd probably get a real kick seeing these outrageous holmes.
I was about to suggest this as well.
They showed the ferris wheel from the State Fair of Texas in the piece about Italy. Guess they just used whatever stock footage they could find! lmao
I was looking for this comment! 😂 I was wondering why Our Ferris Wheel was "in Italy." 🤣
My son does the full choreographed to music yard light display. He puts up between 7 to 9 thousand dollars worth, he and my grandson start putting it up in September, and has it ready to go by Thanksgiving. It runs from 5:30 to 10:30 every evening. His music cannot be heard by neighbors because they have to turn on car, or home/portable radio to a certain frequency to hear. He also contracts with the power company for special bill rates. His first year won the city light holiday contest.
People who place so many lights on their home only light them up for about a month. But it takes about 2 months put all the lights up and get everything in proper order.
The perfect tutorial for doing this is National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Go Sparky! ;o)
A friend of my fathers had a huge house & he'd have electricians come out, set up and wire everything. It was pretty impressive.
Hi Kabir...not sure if anyone mentioned this yet, but in regard to the cost of energy to run these lights, keep in mind that LED lights take hugely LESS electricity to run than incandescent lights, and even less than fluorescent. Folks nowadays are getting to use many more lights, but using much the same energy they used to, or they are using the same number of lights as they used to but saving huge on the energy usage by switching to LEDs. ✌💯
The energy costs are reduced even more on many of the computer controlled light shows. At any moment only a portion of the lights are actually on. Your display might have a huge number of lights but they are rarely all on at once.
And if you don’t need to program the lights, there are some really great solar LEDs out there that look amazing.
I was hoping someone would react to the insane, but wondrous, displays we Americans love so much. Thank you and Happy Holidays from Plano TX! 🤠
Kabir, the town that I live in here in Texas had a house that was on the TV show, "The Great Holiday Light Fight" and won about 5 years ago!! They had a fire 3 years ago [not because of the lights] and haven't been able to set up, but are hoping to next year. The name of their display is Wright's Lights. 💕
Are u a hater or a lover re the lights?🎄🎄🎄✌️😎
Many yrs ago (20+) before this kind of thing was more common, our young neighbor did this kind of thing. Not clusters of every Christmas yard ornament you could find but lots of lights outlining everything. It was beautiful and it was his labor of love. Until the jackwagons started coming in the middle of the night and pull up lights and tearing things down. We live out in the country so traffic wasn't an issue but it also made it difficult to catch the culprits.
The best home displays I think are the ones programmed to sync with a song, the best christmas song being Carol of the Bells
We call my brother Clark Griswold because he does this every year. Thousands of lights, many inflatables, and he adds to it every year. I have no doubt that eventually you'll be able to see his house from space, lol!
My neighborhood has 45 homes every single house does lights and blow-up decorations. We have a Santa that is pulled around on his sleigh. Santa hands out presents. The fire department comes through and gives out presents and candy canes. It's a big thing. And we start it the week prior to Thanksgiving. My house for example has close to 65k lights and a dozen blow up decorations.
When I was a kid, there was a street in my city called Peacock Lane, where every year the residents of the street put on some brilliant, beautiful displays. Used to be a family tradition to go take a trip down there each year to see them.
Merry Christmas, Kabir!! One of my favorite things to do at Christmas is to drive around and look at the Christmas lights ... so magical!!
i've spent most of my life in FL and my favorite thing about christmas is when palm trees get decorated with christmas lights.
Kabir, please consider reacting to the Classic movie “ Christmas Vacation “ with Chevy Chase. I know you like a comedy and this is hilarious. I think most people in Canada and the States make it part of their Christmas!
Every Christmas many boats deck themselves out in Christmas lights and go out at night in Seattle. It can't rival these displays but it is quite a unique tradition.
Usually estate agents have to make the buyers sign a form disclosing and acknowledging the Christmas fame, noise, traffic and decorations, just incase they aren’t aware of why the neighborhood is so expensive. Also, the year round storage of the decorations can add up. Lastly is a street is actually named Candy Cane Lane or Sleight Ride Ave, it’s pretty certain to have a high amount of Christmas decorations outside.
Here in Columbus Ohio we have lights at the zoo where they put up over 2 million lights in the zoo and it’s free admission for the kids
I have an #15 in my neighborhood. Every holiday the neighbors can't wait to see the set up.
Think about it: St. Augustine, Florida was founded while Elizabeth the FIRST was on the throne!
Every home in my neighborhood is full of lights and props, a few homes have so many they have extra generators. Electric bills here on avg $150 so during light season 600+depending on number of lights of course.
Here in the US we have a tv show called The Great Christmas Light Fight. It’s been on for 5 seasons. Most of the contestants are just personal houses. But some are a bit more involved. One year they had a old lumber mill that had like 4 million lights involved. Some houses not only decorate outside but also inside as well. You should see if you can look up a few episodes. Hope you like it and Merry Christmas.
Wait.. that Ferris wheel was the Texas Star at the Texas State Fair 😂
For lights and blowing the roof out it’s usually Halloween that gets top billing … yet there are areas that still go all out to enlighten peoples spirits
A lot of these just remind me of the Movie "Christmas Vacation" with Chevy Chase. Yeah a lot of us go nuts with decorations here in the US
My neighbor back in California was like that. I bought a house in a sleepy retirement village and the neighbor across from me would do his house up so freaking extravagantly that he would draw in crowds from outside. Piping in music that was synced to his animation and shit lol. Every year I go back to visit, I make sure to take a vid to show my wife and friends. Truly funny. These are beyond that though. - I can just think "poor power grid!"
You MUST check out Christmas lights to music! It's amazing!!!
The lights I Japan blew my mind!
We have several houses that not only light the house completely but use computer equipment to make them blink to music
Lots of places do go pretty big in the US and various other places around the world. Two blocks from where I live there is a nice home that has a light show on the house that is synced to music. Vehicles driving by tune their radios to a certain frequency and can see the lights synced with the music. It is very awesome and you can see the light radiating from the house before you ever turn down the street. You might enjoy the Grinch projection show that this one house does. I'm not sure if they still do it, but I first heard about it in 2020 and found it on CZcams. It is very cool and was the first thing like it I had seen. It would be worth your time to watch it if you have not already seen it. I hope you and your family have a Happy Christmas!
And I don't know about you but a million or more lights is going to be bright as hell while I'm trying to sleep!
Yes 🙌🏽 GET ENCHANTED 👏🏽😉❄️☃️ Here in N. California…my neighbors do it up 🆙 RIGHT. You’ve got to see the homes and yards that are timed with musical 🎵🎼🎵🎶❄️ light themes going off. May you and yours have a Blessed Christmas 🎄 2022’.
We even have a show every year called The Great Christmas Light Fight. One of my neighbors, my grandma's accountant, was known for their display and brought the whole town to see that year's display. The Preston family was on the Great Christmas Light Fight in 2016. You can search Preston Family Light Show - athe Great Christmas Light Fight.
Here in the US, they have contest between houses on some blocks. Judges award the best decorated house.
Some people really go big with Xmas lights and decorations
I think some of these displays are gaudy. I like the more elegant, white lights.. winter wonderland
I love that this was all over the world not just USA! I’m from Baltimore n we always drive down that street! I’m in my 60’s n it’s still there. UR right it’s just “the average” homeowner but the whole neighborhood takes part! 🎉 love UR channel! Always fresh n upbeat! Merry Christmas!
I've heard that a fairly new resident of 34th Street has is house decorated for Hanukkah, for the Jewish people in the area.
Kabir merry Christmas and happy holidays and to all too
I just went to 34th Street on Saturday. I try to go almost every year. This year there was a house that was World Cup themed and had all of the different country's flags with Argentina at the top of the tree. I'm not aware of any controversy. Everyone loves it as far as I know. They block the street off to pedestrians only. There's usually food trucks and people selling hot cocoa. Then visitors typically walk down 1 block where there's a strip of all kinds of bars and restaurants so it brings a lot of business to the neighborhood. You can donate to help pay for the electricity, but honestly, it's a high income block. They don't have any trouble paying.
Bonus: it's warm in St. Augustine!
1) At 7:05, "for most of the year the Shiodome Caretta in Tokyo is a shopping center like any other." It's 47 storeys tall! I've never been to one with more than 5 storeys. Most people don't live near a building 47 storeys tall.
2) In one of the outer suburbs of Boston, Massachusetts, there is an annual festival of Christmas lights at "The National Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette." It's a curious mix of the Catholic faith and a Las-Vegas-style spectacle of 300,000 lights illuminating 10 acres.
8:17 They are in many tech areas I agree ...with that said , some of the light show displays here are just advanced .
they're programed into computers to run the lights & music ... simply magical
Stay safe & Much love ~
The first one you did in Plantation Heights, Fl, next year they are requiring county permits for putting the lights up. Also, those 8 houses all split the electric bills between them which i think is generous.
Also, they did it this year and last, because Covid made everyone nostalgic for it (i was born in Plantation, Fl)
Tampa Florida has the illuminated boat parade.Hundreds of boats are full of lights and drunk people.
Here in Richmond, Va we have a Tacky House Tour of homes with extreme Christmas displays
Kobe, Japan .. I applaud you. 👏👏👏
Guess who we live next door to Kabir? Yes, THAT guy! He starts just before Halloween and lights it up on Dec.1st. We have constant traffic up and down the street and his displays grow every year. We don't mind it all, though a couple of times have had to provide backup power to him when he overloads! Loved the Kobe Japan display with the bioluminescence! Hope you'll be able to finish up this vid. I need to know who number one is. I suspect a little place in China might be near the top.
Hey Kabir, check out the Tom BetGeorge CZcams page for some truly fascinating Christmas light displays synced to music. The guy even uses drones for aerial light displays above his house. All the lights are synced to music, just amazing.
Seen some of the videos, I liked Metallica Halloween video
Christmas in America has been off the hook for decades...... Actually where I live in Washington State it has probably mellowed a bit when it comes to lights & decorations. Used to be everywhere when I was a kid in the 80's but now kinda just in select areas
When I lived in Sarasota, Florida there was one home in particular not too far from me that looked very much like the first one in the video. They even had a light show that blinked in time to music. I had never seen anything like that at someone's home before moving to Florida. I figured in Florida the weather is more forgiving and people may feel more motivated to be working outside in this project for several months leading up to December. The house near me had a place where people could make donations for the electric bill. From what I understand their power bill was several thousand dollars a month during the holiday season.
We have a neighborhood in my city that over time, became more extreme with holiday lights. Eventually, it became a condition for any new home owner that they agree to not only not to complain about the decorations, but to decorate a lot themselves. It is now an official city ‘event location’ where to enter/see it, you donate food to the local food bank. Don’t worry about the electric bill either as it is now also supported by our local power plant. These are still personal homes, but they know what they are getting into now.
I quit doing fancy Christmas light displays after my display was vandalized. It was a small display--only about 2000 lights--but many of the light cords had been cut.
i live in saint augustine fl the night of lights is such a beautiful scene especially the restaurants that are right in the middle of saint augustine near the bridge they are just a fantastic place for a family night out or a date night. 100% worth the traffic and parking chaos
I love insane Christmas ⛄🎄 displays!! MERRY CHRISTMAS from Charleston, South Carolina, USA 🎉
Merry Christmas from Montana.
Baltimore needs that miracle each year. IMO 💞
Sadly they covered mostly commercial places vs homes. So many to choose from. A few private homes in there but I think (?) each town probably has that one house....
Dyker heights in Brooklyn have amazing lights. I have yet to visit
The true meaning of Christmas
an excessive electric bill.
It’s the worst, being the neighbor, late for work, not being able to get by the spectators.
I live in bourbon country and the next county over builds a huge tree made of bourbon barrels. It’s probably at least 30 feet. It’s a site to see.
Surprise ending!🤯
When I was a kid there was a guy on my street that went pretty nuts for the holidays, transforming his house and yard into a veritable Lite Brite™ of many colors, woe be to any and everyone with epilepsy, you'd be in for a bad time.
I live about 15 minutes from the Miracle on 34th St. in Baltimore. It's even more impressive in person.
Happy holidays! I don't know if you realize this, but your video ends at # 5, when they mention the wooden rollercoaster.
Now that you can buy solar lights. Ive bought some every year. And i just leave them up all year and just turn them off at the panel. Lol so now when each season hits i just turn the set on for that holiday haha
Thank buddy y.t can get quite depressing at times. Peace 2u and God Bless y'all
McAdenville N.C. is called Christmas Town USA. Every year the quaint little town full of renovated mill houses put lights all over town. Every house participates. The tradition began in 1956 and continues to day. Every night from Thanksgiving till New Year people line up to ride through or park and walk the town. The Charlotte Motor Speedway is just up the road a bit and they decorate the speedway and let you drive in and around the track to see it.
I did the speedway last year and will never do it again. I thought it was a pathetic display and the store was sad. I've done the Tanglewoods Festival of Lights several times, which is great, and the store is a must stop off to get more Christmas decorations and delicious food.
I've wanted to do McAdenville for years but I understood it to be one you walk through and I prefer to just drive through. I don't care much for crowds.
@@mortimerbrewster3671 You can drive through. But take your patience. The line starts on west bound 74 and you exit across or onto 85 on other side of town.
I've never done the Speedway before.
@@Gashouse69 I did hear that there is a lot of traffic. I will check it out some day.
The speedway was disappointing because I have gone to enough light shows that it paled in comparison. One half of the track was actually beautiful but it looked like they got lazy on the other half. They also had music that you could tune in to that choreographed with a display in the stands which was pretty cool. The problem was you either pay the front-of-the-line fee (last year $85) or the cheaper fee with a line that snakes around the parking lot so far that I couldn't figure how they would get everyone in before it closed and I was done by 8:30pm. Either way, not worth the price or the time, depending on which you chose.
Yes! I grew up going to Brookgreen Gardens! So happy to see it on this lost! Stunning is putting it mildly! 💞
Im from Georgetown, SC. Brookgreen is just a few miles north.
let me just put it this way lol for us in the states during the holidays so many people do so many lights and decorations on their homes that... we as Americans as a natural instinct of living here go around all the neighborhoods in our area and we just drive and drive and drive looking at all the Christmas lights and decorations of all the homes we pass by we take whole days and nights to this lazy fun activity we get blankets for the car we get our hot cocoa ready to sip in the car we turn on the Christmas radio stations and we see all the decorations we even make games out of it one game we have is a Christmas home decoration treasure hunt! it's a piece of paper with a list of things on it ranging from snowman to Santa to polar bear to penguin to even "snoopy in a snow globe" lol because trust me there will be a house with a huge blow-up snow globe that has a blow up snoopy inside of it sitting on someone's lawn and it could be the size of a car lol and so we go around to all the decorated houses walking or driving checking off the list of Christmas outdoor home decoration as we play our Christmas treasure hunt game and let me say it's fun and amazing and it makes for a lot of great memories for the holidays
What happened to the video it finished funny ☺️ I was enjoying it ☺️
I wonder if some of these can be seen from the space station 🎄✌️😎
Where'd ya goooooooo? 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
Locally in East Texas we have a place called Carmella's magical Santa Land with millions of lights on about 15 acres... Carmella started it in her own yard and if finally got so big they had to move it to a dedicated space!!! It is a drive through experience with its own radio station during the Christmas season! And it is completely free they just ask for donations from anyone who can give!!
Bummer this didn’t cover more residential areas. Dyker street in Brooklyn, NY is a great example of an entire neighborhood that goes crazy.
Kabir, this was so much fun… until
The video stopped in the middle 😮. I think there is a problem with the upload. Hopefully you can get the full video up! Love your reactions. Merry Christmas from Florida!
I like the average Joe who has no sponsorship and does it on his own. He does it for the love of just doing it and enjoys other families appreciate what he’s done.
One of my grandma’s favorite houses in our area always had Santa and Rudolph fishing, but they caught a tire. Lol
Wow that was a sudden ending
Imagine living close to one of these. We had to get darkening shade to be able to sleep.
My husband and I are going to St. Augustine in two days, looking forward to it!
There is a house near me that puts on a giant display, and work starts on it by September. It is a wonder land that they allow families to walk through. They have a box for donations to help offset the electric bills. Seems to work well for everyone.
I don't want to be the Bah Humbug but the neighborhood where I grew up in a suburb of Dallas we had all these crazy decorations and extreme displays in an area that contained my street and it was a huge damn hassle.
It would be gridlock traffic on every street in my neighborhood from about 6 to 11 pm.
You practically couldn't leave at least by car.
And food delivery would be nonexistent - they would just say no because it might take an hour to drive what normally would be ten minutes.
Eventually they started limiting traffic in that neighborhood because there was a very bad house fire that was probably caused by kids shooting off fireworks but because the streets were so congested it took so long for the fire department and paramedics that it spread to two other houses and a young boy was killed.
I really expected this to be more residential than commercial. It's nice to see and all, but some "regular" people just go bananas with this stuff.
Am I the only one who noticed during Italy they showed the state fair of Texas Ferris wheel lol i’m half asleep and I thought they were showing Texas and then I had to rewind it and figure out they weren’t.
Lucky me, living just north of Old St. Augustine....
It seems this year in my area people are doing their xmas exterior lighting and what not. The last several years it was minimal probably due to the pandemic. Its nice to see people show their xmas spirit again.
Hey Kabir, I haven’t seen anyone else say anything but the video cuts off at 5 abruptly and it doesn’t finish. Otherwise great video as always and I hope you’re having a great holiday season
Just remember the reason for the season Kabir...have you been born again?
That first house has an electric bill of over $4,000 for the month of December.
You should watch national lampoons Christmas vacation 😊
Where is the rest of the video?
Should have had 4 more places in it.
