  • The Blues duo, Joe Bonamassa and Guy King play a little something for us here at #NormansRareGuitars! Joe brought his Gibson ES-275 and Guy is playing one of our Gibson Les Pauls, they both sound amazing!!! They will be at our event this coming Saturday where Joe will be hosting our Celebrity Jam, raising money for LA's homeless, The Midnight Mission. What do you guys think of Joe and Guy?

      guitarforlife it's the thumb picking, i do it as well, you get a much better feel for what you're playing as you're limited for what you can pick.

      @whittington72 Před 7 lety +2

      Adam I hear you.. I hold my pick perpendicular to how it's traditionally held when I want to pick notes fast while soloing. it's a more natural position for the wrist. for an example of what it looks like look at Neal Schon's technique when he shreds

    I've seen Guy King play live a couple times in Chicagoland and plan to see him again. A real humble guy that takes time to talk and meet people off the stage. I'm a huge fan. His combination of Jazz and blues takes it to an entirely different level while making it his own. Every time I've seen him he plays straight into TWO Fender quads, a Tele with NO pedals between him and his amps. The tone is as real as it can get played with true feeling.

      I think Joe's bag of tricks is so deep, he has difficulty restraining his urge to demonstrate his many many tricks. What a problem to have! That's just my .02, Joe has mad chops, and so much precision. I think it's it's the combination of his deep bag of tricks and the precision, it all goes on display (well a lot of it) at any given moment. 10 seconds pass, and you experience like 5-15 different things, it's a lot to process, though the blues/rocks players (myself included) can't help but nod and be like damn, he's got all those licks on demand and zero qualms about unleashing them in rapid fire!

    I love reading all the clowns in the comments section when Joe shoes up. Sorry, but he's probably got more musical sounding farts than you could ever manage on a guitar. People talk all kinds of shit about his ability to play the blues, like they have some idea what they're talking about. His style might not be your taste... but there's no questioning his ability. Any guy who's been playing for 30 years professionally, and is as obsessed with playing guitar as Joe is, has probably forgotten more about playing guitar than the keyboard warriors have picked up in a lifetime. You can question his musical taste... but his ability... absurd!

    2 fantastic guitarists. I am seriously sick of hearing people put JB down. I read someone said "what would a rich white guy have the blues about? "
    Are you serious ? Then SRV is brought up. "Joe is amazing as well but Stevie lived the blues, physically and mentally and spiritually. " Because he smoked , snorted and drank everything he could get his hands on, while Joe lives a clean life ?
    Joe is over rated ? By whom ? Haters gotta hate but most of you need to post a video showing how much , clearly, you are better than Joe ... then and only then will you have a leg to stand on while you throw stones from your crystal mansion.
    I love the videos posted by Norms. I just finished reading confessions of a vintage guitar dealer. Great book. So they are discussing guitars and talking about the charity work they do for Midnight Mission and along come these Trolls. Why not just comment on what a great cause it is and how nice it is that these people/celebrities donate their time for those less fortunate. Trolls should be under their bridge and not talking garbage that they cant back up.
