- Joe Bonamassa trades his very first Gibson Les Paul that was made for him (the prototype). This is the most important piece of Bonamassa history that has ever been for sale. Check it out!!!

He's humble, gracious & not ya typical music industry guitarist /singer. He's very respectful, kind, funny & a very talented guy who worked his ass of for many years to be the musician he is today! Very proud I listened to him long ago! What an awesome dude!
What a down to earth guy, wish I had friends like him
Great respect for Joe. Cool guy who stuck to his music when the big labels didn't want it. Nice human being.
I'm more in the Skip James and Mississippi John Hurt camp myself, but a friend sent me a track of Joe's many years ago when I was still recovering from my rock mode :) Having said that, I love the stuff he does with Beth Hart and he has much more feeling in his playing than many modern guitarists.
trollfiddler seems they have been out of touch for a while.
I’ve really become a fan of Joe’s by watching these videos and learning more about him. Truly a classy guy!
Personally I think Joe will regret selling this one.
I agree. I would have held onto that guitar until my dying day.
Brent Harmon but he's been on the buying trading guitar stuff since a small kid ,
Ya seem to get not so emotionally attached till you reach you 60's.
Then ya say , man I wish I had the gold top prototype right about now.
I know , I do this to the 2nd girlfriend I had . Seen her the other week, do t look as good as I remember,
But that's a diff story.
Big Mistake. One that will be highly regretted.
Gary Moseley he had a great prototype made for him. With that said it's hilarious that he doesn't use it at all. That guitar was the feature of the 1st royal Albert hall show. I believe this is the guitar he uses on the great flood in that show. I understand the allure of 59 les Paul's but when you have a guitar made for you, not using is just odd. I wholeheartedly agree with you that he will regret selling this. It's just so odd that he doesn't use his signature model at all.
It’s nice but it isn’t vintage
He seems like a kid whose parents raised him right. His excellent musicianship is a bonus and a gift to us all.
Joe, thanks for all that you do for everyone. You're a special guy and it's an honor to be able to share a world with you.
Joe's one stand up guy plus one of the best guitar players around
Frank Stallone probably already has this one on layaway
lmao
Pablo Escobar lmao
haha
It's Sly's Martin Luther King Day gift and you just ruined the surprise
You win the internet today. Lol
I've just fallen in love with Joe. He may have a big chin, and a funny last name but boy, does he have the kindest soul, the sweetest singing voice and guitar playing skills to die for.
Stay lovely and grounded, Joe, us fans truly love you for it.
he's a monster player flying the flag for blues rock guitar like nobody else his generation. Keeping it alive.
As one of those homeless people, I want to sincerely thank you for your heart and for what you do for those around you
Thank you Norm & Joe for sharing your talent and gifts with those of us who are true music lovers!
For some reason I've resisted applauding Joe's accomplishments for years. After seeing him play as a child I expected him to eventually burn out and become a pipe fitter or mechanic leaving music behind as many applauded by stars do. But he stayed with it and invested the time, effort and work it took to become what he is today. To see him contribute to those around him, to speak to the public as a modest human being, yet continue working to advance his skills is overwhelming. His modesty, consideration for others, and his contributions to family, friends, and people in general is a most unexpected gift to all of us. Given what I've seen Joe's welcome at my table as long as I remain living.
Jealous is a powerful thing. Also I doubt he gives a flying fuck.
helping those less fortunate than ourselves is a beautiful thing..!!
you guys are right on..! God bless everyone.
so good to hear how much you do for the less fortunate, I have opened my door, to a few homeless teens, and Dusten is now off to school back east, after being with me and my wife, for four years, he is now family to us and we still support him in his journey. I was very happy to receive a beautiful Les Paul faded t from him a year ago Christmas. since then, I have rejoined my efforts to learn to play after 40 years, and in this process, have discovered what an amazing guitar player you are. thank you for your gifts to us...
I love the bit where he gives advice in earnest about how to handle endorsements. As if that’s something we’ll all have to figure out someday. There should be more people on the planet like him.
Joe tells great stories. I would love to see him at a song writer/ performer show interview on stage. So humble and so giving. Have fun at villa Boehm, wish I was there!
He does.
You guy's are so incredibly generous. Its a privilege to watch your video's from England.
God Bless you guys! Your contributions to humanity cannot be out given. "There is not enough Love to go around" Guys like you touch hearts and make a difference!
Joe, you truly are a class act. I wish you great things in your future of music and life in general.
Always polite and pleasant. I like him.
Nice gesture Joe man .
Thank you for helping people no as fortunate as you are .
Been in the rain .
One love man 🙏🏼💜☮️.
Always a pleasure hearing him play and speak share his knowledge . And wealth.
As down to earth as he is amazing, lovely man Joe B !
A fantastic musician, a really nice guy and quite possibly the greatest guitarist of his generation.
Nah. He's gotta be better than Buckethead before he can take that title and he's not even better than Bucket. Buckethead can and does play about 25 different genres of music, all just as well as any of them. Blues, jazz, rock, metal, country, avant garde, whatever. Bucket does it all. Joe doesn't. That alone makes him not the best. Same reason why Duane Allman is better than Jimi. Duane could put down way more than Jimi. He was the more well-rounded player and was better than Jimi, too. He didn't need all the gimmicks like Jimi, either. Just look at the difference in their shows. You went to an Allman Brothers Band concert to HEAR the music. To FEEL the music. You went to a Hendrix concert to see Jimi do all the gimmicks.
Joe may be one of the best blues guitarists of his generation. I can get on with that. But overall? Not a chance. And I'm no Joe B hater. I love Joe's music and Joe, too. He's a real a** dude. But he's not the best guitarist of his generation.
Cool story.
@@blazer6248 very well said! Buckethead is not human
Great video. If you've never seen Joe in concert, do yourself a favor and go! He puts on one heck of a production. From the band, backup singers and all the rest of the "cast"- they really do entertain! Go JB, thanks Norm!
Two wonderful guys doing what they love in life and giving a little back... Thank you for sharing :-)
Great story on your prototype Les Paul Joe! Great for what you and Norm do for the homeless! You’re a good guy.... and a hell of a guitar player! 😀😀😀😀
What a really nice guy Joe is. I saw him in Leeds in his early days and he's just got better and better.
Love all that you do for every one, GUITARS RULE WITH YOU BROTHER THANKS AGAIN GARY
Had the pleasure of seeing Joe play that very guitar in a 2008 in a small blues festival in Fargo, ND. Hs played that night as a trio, just him, a bass, and drums. I was leaning on the stage 6ft away and it was the first time I had ever heard of Joe Bonamassa. I have some great photos and videos. It was a great night.
Love all the jealous people who rag on Joe, a man who’s living his passion and doing it his way. Last I checked, you can’t force people to listen to your music! They’re plenty of artists I may not like but respect them for their success and abilities.
I agree James, Joe's great. If you like guitars, what's not to like, he's a real fan as well as a great player & very knowledgeable. God bless Joe Bonamassa, he's important to the world of guitar.
Where does the hate for Joe come from? Everything I've seen of him he's, humble, intelligent, and extremely passionate about his work. Love the guy.
@@shmirginhymer1867 i’m asking myself the same thing. Why are there any Joe haters? If you don’t like him, just don’t listen to him.
over the last few months I have grown an absolute respect for JB! Great guitar player but better Man!
What a great chap, even a bigger fan now.... thanks Joe.....
One of my favorite episodes. Love it.
Joe seems like a really nice guy! A genuine good person who is humble and hasn't let his fame go to his head. A rare thing today!
I only wish all celebrities were as genuine as joe appears to be. Your a good man joe Bonanassa.
Two good hearted gentleman to help those in need.
God bless you guys for helping the homeless.
Thank you for feeding the homeless. I was once homeless. God bless you.
Joe's humility is what defines his unique greatness. Best living and humble.
I've been watching Norms vids for a while now, I'm not very good yet but, someday before I go I'm going to buy a Gibson from you! At 54 and a disabled vet, I wish I could speed things up but patience makes the pudding taste oh so much better. Please continue with your vids, I find them not only interesting but inspirational too!
Joe is a decent human being and norm your heart is as big as california god bless you both.
Don't trade it Joe..............................
What a great guitarist, one of the best
Great gesture from Joe.I remember seeing him play the Renfrew Ferry in Glasgow years ago which was pretty full but on a previous visit he played to maybe fifty people at most. Some guys would have gave up but fair play to Joe ,he just kept gigging and believing that he would make it.Hope the guitar goes to a good home (with new strings ).Cheers
Wow. Never heard Joe sit and wrap. What a cool guy.
translation: Norm wants something special that he can jack the price up on beyond his already inflated prices
I agree and disagree with your point. I'm sure Norm has quality on point vintage instruments, that are overpriced, but like you said there nice well taken care of good sounding instruments. With that being said, i have been in vintage shops in my area, and have played many of the "nice" vintage guitars they have and can say without a doubt that the prices are sometimes a 1000$ over and the guitars are mostly crap.
I have no beef with Norm but I wouldn't pay a penny extra for a guitar just because it was owned by Joe Bonamassa (as good as he is, he's nowhere near iconic level)
Really? Nowhere near iconic level? Let's hear your playing, man. That's a bold thing to say. SHOW ME who is still alive and BETTER than Joe Bonamassa. A gentleman's bet.
You can't...but if you do...cool!
I'm not denying that he's a great player but there's more to musicianship than technical ability, he has yet to produce any iconic work. I don't give a shit about the Ballad of Jim Henry (or whatever it's called)
Understood. But he's still incredible. Look at B.B. King: Great blues guitarist and singer, but really leaned on the same string-bend and neck-vibrato, and played that on many songs on his records and with other people. Heck, B.B. himself admitted years ago he didn't play rhythm guitar at all.
The Ballad Of John Henry is a classic country-folk-blues song.
Joe is also loved around the world and plays lots of live gigs. He is also not addicted to drugs or booze, which, in my opinion, means that he will be around for a long time.
He's doing great so far!
Joe is brilliant.
Love you Norm! and Joe ! God bless you both!
God Bless you both Joe and Norman for helping out the Homeless ! You guys Rock !
So much talent with so much humility ! Your're a class act Joe
Joe Bonamassa seems to be a genuine down to earth guy as well as being one of the greatest guitarists ever.
you must be kidding! the most self centered overrated wanna be superstar guitar player ever. Hey Joe, write a song that matters
I can assure you he is NOT self centered. I met him in 2014. He is so down to earth and appreciative of his fans. He was an absolute gentleman.
And a song that matters? Listen to "Driving Towards The Daylight." So he doesn't have one of the 5 songs in rotation of pop radio. Big deal. The dude is the hardest working musician in the business. His tour schedule is staggering.
He's super humble and treats his fans like solid gold. How about you write a song that matters and uplifts people instead of talking shit?
I met him in Nashville and he is one hell of a nice guy. Had no ego and seemed appreciative that I wanted to shake his hand. Talked to me for a minute about amps. I was the one to cut off the conversation so I could let the man eat in peace. He most certainly DIDN’T act like some celebrity rockstar who was too good for me. Joe is a-ok in my book and an incredible guitar player.
Ive always and always will be a big fan of Joe B!!! Thanks Norm!!
Two great guys. Thank you.
I heard heavy metal almost my whole life, blues is still not my music style..., but this guy has a great sound, and a humble heart. I like it.
Metal is actually rooted in the blues, the early Sabbath stuff comes from there, a lot of the heavy metal solos use the pentatonic scale as a basis.
fantastic guitar player..but a better person..just pure class
Keep up the greatness Joe,and keep sharing your Joy.
Awesome guy and gives back without hesitation.
Such a humble guy, fantastic guitarist.
Joe Bonamassa is such a likable, brilliant, super talented dude...
He's humble, gracious & not ya typical music industry guitarist singer. He's very respectful, kind, funny & a very talented indivisible who worked his ass of for many years to be the musician he is today! Very proud I listened to him long ago! What an awesome dude!
And he even lets Norman tell everyone he's is nephew.
He was taught by the best too, RIP Telemaster
THANK YOU JOE & NORM FOR HELPING THE MIDNIGHT MISSION!!!!!!!!
I love this Vid. I work for the Mustard seed here in Victoria BC. Feeding ,clothing, by the grace of God trying to steward an organization that focuses on the lost and homeless is proabably the beat job ive ever had.
Im very much a les paul guy myself. After a long journey. I dont have a Bonamassa lp . I am very fortunate to steward a 2016 R9 burst tho.
Princeton reverb for me !!!
Cheers Joe and Norm.
Wonderful !
I bought a used '74 Gibson Les Paul deluxe gold top back in '76 or so and I played it for a few years. I can't remember _why_ I wanted to get rid of it but I took it down to 48th Street in NYC and sold it, (I think the place was called 'We Buy Guitars' or something like that), for a fraction of what it was worth. Looking back I _really_ regret doing that. This video triggered the painful memory. Thanks guys! :D
TheMerryPup that was the name. I think that's where edge got his explorer.
Brother, we've all been there.
That’s a great guitar and a legend.
For me one unforgettable guitar I’ll never forget playing is playing a vintage 1959 Goldie in a rare and vintage shop although I never admired the Les Paul I had.
Of course it was already gone when I saved up to buy it which was listed for $6000+.
Joe is one of the guys I truly trust and respect for the unique guitar tone and guitars that he thoughtfully choose.
I think he’d be one of those picky “ehhh I don’t like the way it sounds” until it satisfied him which is the reason I respect him.
Crazy cool!! Joe B fan for a long time but The Ballad... got donated to the library.
Its one of my dream guitars right there. I love it and i have this space in my hands thats itching like hell. I doubt one of these will ever be affordable.
Joe’s dedication to music is inspiring
I wish everyone that hates on Joe an everbreaking g-string ! ... then again.. most of the haters probably don't even play guitar ;) I will think of something else for those. I think he a great and warmhearted person. How can one hate that ? Lots of people enjoy him and his music (like me).. No need for that stupid hate. It's not like you HAVE to listen to him. Grow up !!
I honestly cannot comprehend "hating" on Joe B. He is, by any standard, a good human being.
can i "hate" him because he is luckier then me and im jealous he has gotten to play the beast and jam with marsden? but bare him no real ill will? you know the canadian way :P
anyone that hates on him either doesn't play guitar or can't play guitar as well as he can
It’s not like we HAVE to listen to you either. Thank God! Haters gonna’ hate, hate, hate.
thanks norm and joe, you guys are both class acts! and are humanitarians who are thankful for your blessings ,and willing to give back some love, and are good at heart, god bless you for that! beautiful les paul ! joe is such an exceptional player ,so quick snappy and precise, and i can tell you, that nobody even comes close to the way joe plays the blues and or other styles on guitar! this man is a modern day les paul himself! you can tell that joe lives , breathes and worships guitar. this passion has made him one of the greatest players ever. and when you own some of the sweetest guitar examples ever,as well ,it made him even better. and norms knowledge and expertise on all things guitar is amazing! hes seen it all , been there and done that on the guitar market for decades! thanks guys !
i have a prototype guitar, you can buy it for only $50,000 and i will even sign it
Sick guitar! I like the different tone and volume knobs

He's a humble person. And a monster on the fretboard.
Fantastic... Man he is a fantastic player ....so so cool ....Thanks for posting... NormCheers Alberta Dave

Hey, thought I was Alberta Dave?! ;-)
Someone call 911....there is a guy here that has lost his identity :)
Amazing to hear a musician use "we" more often than "I". What a cool ICONIC dude.
Nomad Nomad shouldn’t it be weconic?
@@pault7280 I saw what you did there. LOL
Good folks. Happy for both of you 😀
Looks great Joe. Like the black backing.
So, I remember having a small talk conversation and a beer at a tiny place in struthers ohio what was a downstairs billiard room called the cellar. Joe, you were not even just "some dude" then...(silly) Anybody in that Room paying attention knew that you'd be where you are! Gifted and touched is an understatement. Your one of the most Brilliant guitarists of all time. " Raised right" And humble, Down-to-earth? Absolutely CLASS ACT! If I recall correctly mom was actually pushing cd's that night. Kiss mom...and thank you Sharing your gift!✌👏👏👏
I was there and seen Joe a few times for a redickuless price, like $5-$7. Watched him from about 6 feet away. Yes he was a very nice guy signed my tickets and would talk to anyone.
Hey Joe where ya going with that les Paul in your hand

I'm going to see my doctor, I might have to quarantine myself.
I’m gon down to trade it for something bad
You know I caught her messing around with another band
And that ain’t to cool
Great respect For You Joe.... Live a Long healthy Life ... you are loved . Thanks Norm
Two great guys!
Norm always asking questions to add value to the guitar. "You used this guitar on John Henry?" "This guitar was the prototype!?" But after all he's got a business to run. Good for him.
Oh c'mon Joe. You go the idea of the mismatched knobs from Gary Moore's 59 burst.
*Peter Green's
No. Everything that Joe does is his own original idea.
Lefty Blues Joe yeah..from peter green..to gary moore..to kirk hammet.
Nudelwagen Poop and wah pedal!!
*Mick Ronson's
I was just there today, from San Luis Obispo. Boss you guys for your midnight mission work.
I love guitars. And the people who play and talk about them!!!
You're a real name Joe. You deserve the honor.
Great human being: Joe you are really a giant!🙂✌🏻️
This is great!!! Good one Norm!!!... and Joe
Love these two.
I'm no fan of Bonamassa's music nor blues wanking, but I admire like hell his dedication to his craft and devotion to the special instruments and amps of the past.
I have ser no. 270 of that initial Custom Shop batch from 2008 Joe's mentioning in this video. Phenomenal Les Paul...fit, finish, sound is superior to the USA Standard JB Sig Les Paul. These things are rare...and really hard to find info on this initial 300 batch run. one sold on Ebay for 5,000 recently. But I recommend anyone interested in a great Custom Shop LP, keep an eye out, because you might find one for a great deal like I did (the shop who sold it to me didn't know what they had and was selling as a 2012...and I knew something was up when I got it, cause it wasn't like the 2012's I had already played and def a Great guitar. It took a while to do some research and finally had to call Gibson to identify). Hope someone else out there gets lucky too.
Great job Joe and Norm .
Wow, I was wrong about Joe B. What a great human-being. I’m a big big fan!
