Just seen viddy, thanks...now it's time to get busy wire-up that "Blender" pot. I have heard some beautiful tones from Stratocasters that are wired like this. Thanks for explaining and showing us the correct wiring in a concise and calm manner.
This is interesting, something different. I have one on the bench right now, was considering doing this, but didn't have the "blender pot". I was looking to order one, very glad I saw this video!
I tried this mod and Dan Armstrong's mod and prefer the blender mode. It gives me more Strat tone. In Dan Armstrong's mod I have series and out-of-phase tone, but the series tone does not sound like that of humbuckers, and I seldom use out-of-phase tone.
Firstly, congratulations on the videos!! I would like to know in this case, how do I change the BLEND potentiometer for a 6-pole ON ON switch? How should I connect the wires? Thanks!
My idea would be, to install an additional knob as a blender and keep both tone controls. Then use the neck tone control for bridge and the neck. I wonder if that is possible.
Hi,im trying something different, id like to try in a dual pick up guitar, wiring a volume,to a blend pot ,using it as a selector switch,is it possible,if so can u show me,bless you
Quick question, I have heard load pot. Does it matter if you use a standard 250k? I have 3 new pots here I want to do this with. Is the blender pot special or can I do it with a standard pot?
Hello. I have made the blender change for my strat and it is fine. Howerver I tried with my Music Man Albert lee with Lindy Fralin pickups and ONE master tone.So I bought a concentric pot so that I could operate as if I had 2 pots to work with. The problem is that the concentric pot does not go down to zero..therfore my bridge pickup is always slightly active...any solution ?
They are in parallel bc it's the hot wire. If you watch his series/parallel mod video using a push pull pot, you can have all 5 normal positions plus neck and middle series, neck and bridge series and bridge/middle parallel with neck in series. So 8 different combinations
Very nice mod, and easy to do. I just switched from the Kinman K7 mod I was using previously - there were odd phasing issues. I think the blender mod produces more useful tones. Thanks
Is this the same as a series/parallel wiring mod? Can you buy this wire set up by itself without having to buy a custom shop guitar? If so how much is this to buy it by itself?
I'm currently rewiring a Squier Bullet Strat that I put better pickups in and I screenshot the diagram; the regular 5-way switch won't fit so I'm using an imported inline 5-way switch.
Does this actually require a special pot for the blender or does a standard pot work? Some looking that I did online made it sound like it's a special pot that allows it to fully bypass the signal when set to 9-10 so that the other pickups don't "bleed through." I'm wondering if that's actually the case or if that's just a fancy way for them to see you a slightly more expensive pot?
I used a standard CTS CRL 250K pot for this mod. It works fine. Theoretically, some blended signal is probably being bleed even at 0, but I can't hear any difference.
You can use the standard pot, but better is usage of no load pot to get fully bypass. You can make the no load pot simply by your self from the standard pot: czcams.com/video/dN3SlH-cEAg/video.html
Yes when looking at the diagram I thought the blender pot should be a no-load pot in order to keep the other PU out of the circuit when the no-load blender pot is on 10. Moreover it's parallel blending so I really wouldn't want any bleed if not intended.
It's just a 250k audio taper pot, exactly what's already there. But if you want to be able to remove it from the circuit, you'll need a "no load" 250k pot.
I did this mod to my Strat and I love it. However, I don't like that it's on a dial. I'm going to remove the blender portion of this and convert it to a passive bass cut, then use an S-1 switch to activate the series combo. Every Strat should have a series option. It's awesome.
Do you think we can use this blender pot to kill the 60 cycle hum? Meaning that instead of bringing the neck on when you have the bridge or vice verca...to bring a bit of the...middle on(just a bit)...if its reverse wound doesn't that kill the hum?
i used your video and found there is an error in the wiring diagram. you connected L2 of tone pot to L2 of volume pot, but i think it should be L2 of tone pot to L1 of volume pot, right?
He probably has the tone circuit wired up in parallel, not sure though. Theoreticall, it should be connected to L1 since it's the input LUG, but his diagram might work as well.
that got my head spinning for a while. I tried this way and its wrong cause when you roll your tone down, then your volume down as well it will mess up your tone. I even tested it, you are right, L2 tone pot to L1 vol.
to bad the blend pot is leaking so you have little of the other pickup even if you turned the pot to the bottom, the brigde and neck pick up is never heard alone
I learn so much from you. So clearly laid out without the usual hype. In your debt.
This video is perfect ! Clear and straight to the point. Thanks a lot.
Wow, clear, straight to the point. Best video on this mod I've seen. Thank you.

Awesome. Simple but blends exactly well. Thanks
Worked like charm !!! Thank you!
Great video, really clear and concisely explained, thank you.
Awesome, thanks for the clear and to the point vid.
Thank you so much for these video's! Keep up the good work!
fantastic tutorial, clear and helpful. thank you so much!
Awesome video !! Thank you for sharing this info !
This is very cool and thank you!
This is great. I'm going to have my guitar tech make this mod to my strat.
great mod and video . works a treat!
I love this mod! Thanks :)
Thank you for getting down to business without the bullshit. You also helped me solve my lack of technical knowledge in less than 5 minutes.
yep I recommend use of a no load pot to remove it completely as needed
thx for the videos! it's really clear!!
Great video. Thx so much!!!

Perfect video. Thank you. If i want on top of that the 50's wiring, what should i do ? Cheers
Do you prefer this master tone wiring versus the cap soldered to the middle lug, and L3 tone to L1 on volume?
My idea would be, to install an additional knob as a blender and keep both tone controls. Then use the neck tone control for bridge and the neck.
I wonder if that is possible.

Hi. So can I use just the 250k tone control as the blender switch? I don't need to order a blender switch? Sorry new to the guitar scene.
can i use a seven pin selector to make a blend control??? please answer me
Great video. Why do you not use B1,B2,B3, and B4? Why directly to A with both wires?
Clever!! When you blend are the pickups in series at any position? I need loud meaty tons for heavy distorted sound
They are in parallel bc it's the hot wire. If you watch his series/parallel mod video using a push pull pot, you can have all 5 normal positions plus neck and middle series, neck and bridge series and bridge/middle parallel with neck in series. So 8 different combinations
Awesome. My 5 way switch is different? Only have connections on one side ? Little help
Very nice mod, and easy to do. I just switched from the Kinman K7 mod I was using previously - there were odd phasing issues. I think the blender mod produces more useful tones. Thanks
Do you need to buy a specific blender pot or can you just repurpose that second tone knob?
Is this the same as a series/parallel wiring mod? Can you buy this wire set up by itself without having to buy a custom shop guitar? If so how much is this to buy it by itself?
At the beginning it says master volume and master tone when you note that i will lose one tone is it still a master tone for all 3 pickups?
Does blending bridge with neck increase a humbucking effect?
Are they close enough to do that?...M
perfect video! 1 question, with a treble bleed installed will this not alter the wiring you've suggested? Thanks, Matt.
Ff.

that is it cool
was this removed from BrejaToneworks channel?
How can I add 50s wiring to this wiring setup?
Hi thanks for these vids they are very helpful.. Question for you, does it matter if the cap is wired to lug 1 instead of lug 3?
tonally it doesn't matter, but your pot will be reversed (clock wise instead of counter clock wise to roll down the volume).
นี่เป็นวีดิโอจากชาแนลของ Breja Tonework นี่ครับ ทำไมเอามาลงช่องตัวเองแบบนี้ล่ะครับ

Hi. Would it be difficult to obtain the same options but in series wiring, say via a push-push switch on the blender dial? Thanks
I dont think they'll answer this is a ripped video. Look up breja here on youtube and ask them, theyre the ones who did the video.
czcams.com/video/iOmxRZ6IFO8/video.html
That may be a good solution for you
Does anybody know if u can install both a blender and a neck on switch?
at 2:46 you say "a3 to l3" but your drawing shows a3 to l1. so l1 is correct?
Can a No Load pot be used for the Blender Pot ?
Yew, and you can make your own out of the existing tone pot.
Does this require a special "blender" pot? Or is it simply the pot that was already there?
It's just a 250k audio taper pot, exactly what's already there. But if you want to be able to remove it from the circuit, you'll need a "no load" 250k pot.

The blend occurs when I turn to value of the pot down or happens when the pot is at 10? tyy
It plays like a normal strat on 10
i used your video and found there is an error in the wiring diagram. you connected L2 of tone pot to L2 of volume pot, but i think it should be L2 of tone pot to L1 of volume pot, right?

L2 to L1 is modern/standard wiring, L2 to L2 is 50´s wiring, with witch you will get more britness when you put the volume down.
to bad the blend pot is leaking so you have little of the other pickup even if you turned the pot to the bottom, the brigde and neck pick up is never heard alone
Why are you stealing Breja's video.. did he take it down or something?
I was going to say, this is stolen from Don @brejatoneworks.
the blender pots should use No Load Pots
Fiz essa ligação com um humbuck na ponte
