Dependent and Independent Volume Controls Explained
Do you need a certain pot for the blender or will the factory tone knob work?
I don't understand what the wire from the capacitor between M/B (lower) Tone pot's L2 and N (upper) Tone pot's L3 does in the standard wiring. I also don't understand why we keep it after removing the MB tone cap and replacing it. Could you please help me out?
im so fucking glad you made this video. i noticed my guitar wasnt producing sound unless on overdrive channel on amp and it was coming out clean. its jackson dinky js 11 with this exact schematic and noticed the middle position of the pickup switch wire had broken. using the schematic i figured out where it should connect and did a quick test while touching it to the solder point while strings were ringing and it made a sound. youre the best
Your voice is a perfect blend of Iggy Pop and Mike Judge.
How are you getting two north starts on bridge pick up?
For anyone with this same question, use a jumper wire. Also had to get a bigger capacitor bc my tone knob was turning off volume.
Confussion: Why the South Hummbucker split coil switch connects black, green and red? the black (hot) is not supposed to go to the selector, and the green/red are not supposed to go to ground when the switch gets pulled? I mean, in the same way that the North Pick up... on the other hand: white and red are not supposed to interconnect instead the green???
You are the Greatest and VERY much appreciated 👍🙏🏽
yep I recommend use of a no load pot to remove it completely as needed
Nicely done. Thank you very much!
Needed that simple explanation! Thanks
Wow, clear, straight to the point. Best video on this mod I've seen. Thank you.
Firstly, congratulations on the videos!! I would like to know in this case, how do I change the BLEND potentiometer for a 6-pole ON ON switch? How should I connect the wires? Thanks!
Literally couldnt have made this more confusing
Thank you, I did it on a guitar that I built and it turned out spectacular, a hug from Argentina
at 2:46 you say "a3 to l3" but your drawing shows a3 to l1. so l1 is correct?
Great video, I´m going for my second guitar mod (the first was just changing pickups connecting everything like it was in an Ibañez RG prestige because the switch it has is really complex for me (VLX91). In my second mod I´m changing pickups of another Ibanez and also installing push pull pots for coil splitting and different pickup combinations, the with it has is simpler, its a 5way Ibanez COR-TEX. Do you have a video of a more complex project involving a 5 way switch or super switch ?
does this wiring color scheme work for dimarzio pickups?
Will the restistance be different between series and parallel?
Hi, I've already done this on a les paul stile guitar, but now I was looking for the modifications on a Telecaster where the bridge pickup is a 4 wire humbucker (single coil sized) to be switched series parallel, but the volume and tone knobs are in common with the neck pickup. Probably instead of a push pull pot, will need a simple dpdt switch to be installed between the two knobs. Cheers.
How about vol pot? Should i put treble bleed or not? And is that trebel bleed on tone pot?
Anyone have a diagram for 2 Humbuckers/3-Way Toggle Switch/1 Volume (no tone)?
Honestly good luck with that man, im struggling myself finding 2 humbucker/3-Way Toggle Switch/ 1 vol/ 1 tone without push pull and cant find it anywhere
Will this work with a 2 wire pickup?
Do you need to buy a specific blender pot or can you just repurpose that second tone knob?
thanks for the video!!! looking forward to emailing you. With my wiring problem and questions.
Do you have a video for a 2 humbucker, 1 volume and a 3-way toggle. Volume can be a regular pot or a push pull pot. I appreciate your time and help
Hey there, i just followed this amazing scheme but idk if i did it correctly as my 2 humbuckers pickups are Dimarzio a superdistortion for bridge and a paf for neck can someone explain this? I know im a little bit too late as this video was uploaded 8 years ago
Wish you had a come picture of the harness nobody does screw up
What if I don’t want to use a tap coil?
What if I got a humbler and a single pickup. God a sweet guitar and great pickups, is there anyway to do a push pull pick up
Got a sweet guitar I meant
Amazing. This is exactly the video I needed at the exact time I needed it. Great timing. Thanks
Great explanation. Thanks.
Not worth a shit
So, someone asked for a help with two humuckers with a three way switch and 1 tone and 1 vol (something loads of us have) and you added into the mix a push pull switch and told everyone that unless their humuckers have 4 wires it's not going to work...lol...that's so weird you added your own parameter. Quite a clear demo all the same. Thankyou. Why did you add the push pull switch?
Thank you, great helpful video!!
This was by far the most informative video I have watched so far regarding the DPDT pot wiring. Most videos only show the casing with the 6 terminals for soldering, but don't show the rest. ...I went to many videos and they didn't even show the Complete wiring diagram, as you so WONDERFULLY displayed. When someone searches youtube to install a new guitar part, YOU ARE THEIR SAVIOR. Bless your heart and I will subscribe/like this video, whole-heartedly. my guitar WORKS NOW. I just need to figure how to include the 2 wires I taped together on the 2nd humbucker on the DPST switch so I can run from 1 coil from each humbucker.
btw, I am running 2 humbuckers (with 4-conductor wires, each), a dpst pot as volume for the bridge, a 500k pot as volume for the neck, and a master tone switch. [NOTE: every part in the guitar is grounded to the switch through a chain of soldering points and wires]. It works but no parallel or coil split action :\ ...There is a learning curve with guitar repair, like anything else in life.
I do not follow what he is saying and to me, it seems he needs to go more slowly and explain just what he is doing and why a bit better. A lot of fellows do NOT know anything at all about wiring in 4-wire humbuckers. So, for example, is A1 the first tab NEXT to the bottom of the pot or the third one?
Awesome video !! Thank you for sharing this info !
what about a jaguar demo with humbuckers
Cool vid. So any pickups with 4wires can be made toggled into series/parallel ? Right? Thnxx brother ❤
What a coincidence lol, I have the same model of guitar that was used in the intro. Sweet, I'll have to work on that soon.
Just seen viddy, thanks...now it's time to get busy wire-up that "Blender" pot. I have heard some beautiful tones from Stratocasters that are wired like this. Thanks for explaining and showing us the correct wiring in a concise and calm manner.
Very concise and detailed tutorial. Excellent video!!!
It seems that the tone of the neck and middle pickpup act as a volume on my attempt to reproduce your schems, what could I’ve missed? I think there is possibility that something that shouldn’t touch a wire when I put back all the stuff inside to screwback the pickgard, but I don’t have any clues… 🤔
my guy! That red guitar has a headstock that this 30+ yr old guitar that was gifted to me, has! What brand is this, and or is it custom?
was this removed from BrejaToneworks channel?
Can you better explain this with no push/pull switch
fantastic tutorial, clear and helpful. thank you so much!
I'm doing a 5 way 1 vol 1 tone HSH. The tone will be push pull to split the humbuckers when pulled up. I would like a simple system. Down is humbuckers and middle SIngle coil.. Up is split buckers and middle single coil. The 5 way works like a 5 way works on a strat either up or down always the same.1. Bridge.. 2.Bridge/ middle...3. Middle... 4.Middle/ Neck...5 Neck...Either way split or not split. Plain and simple for a simple guy. Amazingly, I can't find this wiring diagram anywhere .
Could you make video for 2 Humbucker, 1 Volume, and On-On Mini Switch (Without Selector Switch) ?
that is it cool
