    My father God Rest his soul, played bouzouki for almost 50 years. I still haven't been able to pick up his instrument because I can't get past the emotional feeling I get without him. It's been 18 years since I lost my pops.

      Play it, You will find you Father again. For 50 years that instrument is charged with an immense charge of your dads energy. Call me crazy but i believe one can draw from that well as i did from my late grandmothers Piano. After which i always look for instruments with a story and history from other long gone passed players.

Then I finally decided to keep his legacy alive by playing guitar again. So now I play guitar in his memory. It's a way for me to continue his/our music journey. BTW sorry for the loss of your Father

    Just got d'addario folk nylon strings in black and brass. They have so much more impact than the strings my guitar came with. They're a bit rougher on my hands, but the warmth and crazy volume they get are very worth it. I also got a new set of tuners because the old ones couldnt hold a note for very long.
    Counting the strings, i spent 80 dollars total and it sounds better than my 300 dollar guitar.

    For many years, following a video where I saw John Williams applaud the strings Ddario EJ45lp, I have used these strings. The 'lp' at the end stands for Lightly Polished whereby the bass strings are not as coarse as general strings are and they cut down a lot of unwanted screeches, squeals etc and these sounds have no place in guitar music-making. Ddario EJ 45 lp !! the best strings and definitely worth the extra funds that they cost.

Saludos!!!!

      Extra hard tension strings will have less sustain than normal tension strings. Question. I've been playing guitar for like 30 years and i bought my first classical guitar and i love it. 1983 hirade model 5 near mint. The playing style i have is i bend the strings alot. I'm pretty sure on classical guitars you aren't really supposed to bend the strings but i just can't help it. So, if a guy needed the best classical guitar strings for bending the notes what would the qualities be? A higher tension string? Thinner strings?

    • @MiguelFerreyraGuitar
      @MiguelFerreyraGuitar  Před rokem +1

      Classical guitarists bend strings too!
      It’s used In vertical vibrato and string bending is employed more like a rock guitarist would in some modern compositions for classical guitar. I highly recommend D’Addario EJ45 Pro-Arté normal tension strings. If you use hard tension, they will project better, but it will be harder to bend the strings. Thanks so much for this. Strings choices are just way too confusing. I wish all of the brands would put a page with a comparison of sound - like Aquila does - That would let a player at least eliminate some from their list to try. I was happy with the sound was getting.

    • @ErhardFrebold
      @ErhardFrebold Před 4 měsíci +1

      This question is a little difficult to understand. Higher tension strings give more punch and shorter sustain, but also increase action height by pulling the neck up more, and by most criteria have LOWER playability than medium tension strings. They simply require more force to fret.
      The exception is higher tension can give a little more precision as they don't mush around sideways quite as much.

      Late reply time, I have an ancient Hofner and I've experimented with a few strings as it doesn't like ordinary or high tension strings due to it's neck being probably a bit past it's best.
      I ended up trying the Augustine Blacks and I must say, I'm very happy with them. They have a nice range of sound depending on your picking, tension is certainly lower than standard and they've lasted well. According to the packaging, they are the strings Andre Segovia used and he may know a thing or two about classical guitar.
      They also do other "colour" strings which cost more too, I haven't tried them yet but I intend to fairly soon. Give the Blacks a go, hopefully they'll work on whatever you're playing too.

    Always loved Hannabach extra hard on my light Granada guitar. Their bass strings were always god awful quality. I've had some snap while I was putting them on and many after a just a few days. But, sadly nothing else sounds as good on my guitar.

      Try both the D’Addario EJ45 Pro-Arté normal tension and the D’Addario EJ46 Pro-Arté hard tension string sets. They are the warmest nylon strings on the market. Thank you for watching! Actually when you string the $200 Yamaha with Aquila Sugar, it sounds like $1000 guitar.

      ...and, perversely, sometimes in my experience when you string a $4000 luthier-built guitar with Aquila Sugar, it sounds like a $200 factory instrument! Back to D'Addario J45 or LaBella 2001-- what a relief! :)

      @@ErhardFrebold You are right. Recently I strung my Bernabe with Aquila Sugar, it didn't sound the best.

      Yes carbon certainly is a component of nylon.

    Nobody cares about gut any more... that is in the distant past. Tension to use for certain guitars matters and cost/quality is a concern for many folks. And there are very few pros who watch this video, so casual players are the main part of the string market...

    • @MiguelFerreyraGuitar

      Hi Doug! The only professional players that I can think of that use gut strings or nylgut strings are Carles Trepat and Stefano Grondona whom both often record and perform on historical guitars that might not be able to take the tension of modern strings. The rest of the professional world exclusively uses carbon or nylon strings. Cheers! ~Miguel, Guitar Lessons from Spain 🇪🇸

      @@MiguelFerreyraGuitar good points. MOST USA classical guitar players are amateur kids and they will get cheap strings or what they are told to get.
