What is amazing is Bangladeshi vlogger includes a Pakistani but doesn’t invite an Indian. Looks like he has forgotten who helped the creation of his own country and to stretch this further the creation of Bangladesh is a slap in the face for Jinnah when the demand he made for partition was based on his weird logic of Muslims being a nation by itself which got further changed in West Pakistan that you are Muslim only if your language is Urdu.

      Dear Concerned,
Thanks for taking the time to give a very detailed comment. Here is the response:
      1. This is a 'clip' made from two previous episodes: "Jinnah: A Life" by Yasser Latif Hamdani and "The Ethnic Cleansing Of Palestine" by Ilan Pappé. There was no episode made with an Indian historian, hence why no clip was included. You're welcome to see the full podcasts with the aforementioned guests here. 👇

      2. At the show we are fully aware about the contribution of Indian soldiers towards the creation of Bangladesh. One of our greatest Liberation War heroes was Lt. Gen. JFR Jacob, a Bengali-Jewish Officer from the Indian Army who used his supreme negotiation skills to turn a ceasefire document into a surrender document. Sadly Lt. Gen. JFR Jacob passed away in 2016 at the age of 92. Had he still been alive, we would have loved to have had him on the show. We in fact did a review of his book "Surrender At Dacca". You're welcome to see that episode here. 👇

      3. With regards to Mr. Jinnah & Bangladesh, you would be surprised to know that prior to the creation of Pakistan, Mr. Jinnah was in fact in favor of an alternative partition Plan that was put forward by the Premier Of Bengal Mr. Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy. This plan was called "The United Bengal Plan" and it was supported by both Mr. Jinnah as well as Sarat Chandra Bose, the elder brother of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Sadly, this plan was rejected by Mr. Nehru and Mr. Gandhi. So the creation of Bangladesh actually vindicated Mr. Jinnah's original plan. You're welcome to see that clip here. 👇

      4. As for Muslims being a separate nation and Urdu being the language for Muslims, this too was covered in the episode with Barrister Yasser Latif Hamdani. Should you wish, you can see the clip here. 👇

      5. And finally, thanks for taking the time to read through this entire response. We appreciate each and every one of our subscribers and encourage everyone to continue supporting the show.

We are human beings and that too when it comes to Subcontinent History we are biased based on religious upbringing or absence of it. I am fully aware of the contribution of Lt.Gen. J.F.R. Jacob who was born in Calcutta and whose family are originally from Iraq. The reason why the Indian army is professional is due to this fact of keeping religion out of its institution and all of them are devoted to their profession with one goal of serving the nation. I have read and seen Documentaries and know the partition was an iterative process and the very first time when Mr.Jinnah was asked about what portion should constitute Pakistan, he marked the entire Northern part of Undivided India up to the current location of Bangladesh. Both sides used clever negotiating tactics to get what they wanted. Congress which initially resisted the idea of partition realized there was no alternative after the infamous 1946 Direct action day used all its influence to get a better deal for the people of India which consisted of Hindus , Sikhs, large Section of Muslims who were unwilling to migrate, Christians , Parsis and other minorities. Creation of separate Punjab and Bengal would have resulted in Balkanization of Undivided India and would have resulted in million more deaths due to continued war over shared resources.
It is very easy to access things with the benefit of hindsight. Mistakes were made which has resulted in weak nations. Let's hope better sense prevails and our current leaders realize this and work towards a better tomorrow for all the people.

      Yes, absolutely. Subcontinent first.
