The terrorists in Pakistan did not exist before 2001. They came in from Afghanistan along with the refugees when Bush invaded Afghanistan. Pakistan had an open land border with Afghanistan at the time. I guess living in another continent thousands of miles away you don't get the geography and geopolitics of that area. What you do get, your bias won't let you admit. Only 2000 or so lost their lives in 9/11. Pakistan had nothing to do with it. Becoming US's logistics partner in WOT put a target on Pakistan's back 60,000 + Pakistanis including 15k police and army personnel lost their lives in this war since 2001. Relation between Pakistan and terrorism :- 🧐
1. Initially Pakistan supported, encouraged and actively trained terrorists to beat Russians who had occupied Afghanistan, with the active support and knowledge of CIA. Pakistan has been able to bleed Russians and also ultimately drive them out. US endorsed these terrorism then.
2. Pakistan is the one helped Taliban to capture Afghanistan. The idea behind this is to bleed India and carry out huge terror attacks like Kargil which turned into a war, the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack which got internationalised, Uri & Pulwama which became decisive moments for India because of successful retaliation. Through these and numerous other terror attacks Pakistan thought that it can bend India. But India is more resilient being in the same league with Pakistan. From 2014 India raised its security alert, such that terrorists are unable to penetrate deep inside the country. Now terror is confined to the Kashmir Valley because of the people who support the terrorists. Since no mercy is shown nearly 1000 terrorists are killed. Now even the notorious ones fear to enter the borders.
3. Pakistan till recently felt the terrorists will help them release Kashmir from India. But now Pakistan is afraid that these terrorists may be the reason for their own country going to pieces.
4. Now Pakistan cannot dismantle them. Once they are released a situation as that of Gulf where ISIS went on a rampage resulting in a war running to many months may develop in Pakistan. Hence Pakistan is probably in a dilemma. Pakistan cannot afford to release them.
5. Pakistan cannot afford a direct confrontation with India. Proxy war is the only option available. If Pakistan has to go in for proxy war terror modules are necessary. Hence they want to protect and promote the same.
6. Pakistan may also be thinking that they may get an opportunity in future when they can use the terrorists profitably against India. Hence they want to bide time.
