As someone who studies the Yang form and Tae Kwon Do, this Chen style is very satisfying to watch. Kind of like a tiger, moving slowly or quickly with equal grace and power
I think you are right for most. They have this softness in their ligaments and waist movements. This is Chen style also which has big beautiful movements compared to other styles. Absolutely amazing to watch.
Taiji is supposed to compliment feminine and masculine energies. When a man does the form in one direction a women is supposed to go the opposite so that they compliment one another and form the yin/yang circle.

Just understand however that Kung Fu and Tai Chi while they have similar looking movements, are two different martial arts, however Kung Fu has incorporated Tai Chi into it over the years. Kung Fu is an external hard style. Tai Chi can be hard and soft but it's primarily an internal style, though it combined external movements., heavily based on Daoist philosophy and incorporates a lot of yin yang concepts.

But that’s just semantics and not important or known by people who don’t study. The important thing is to get out and practice whatever you are doing. 😊 happy training everyone

Since that time, the art forms differed in Okinawa from the Shaolin form. The Shaolin forms emphasize highly choreographed movements imitating animals almost like a fancy graceful dance. Maybe this is where the Ryu Kyu dance is from? The style became known in Okinawa for power and it's power and derived from a wide base while Kung Fu mainly emphasis attacks from very low bases and low center of gravity though I've noticed that fighters in both Karate and Kung Fu love to emphasize kicks from a wide base as kicks are the most devastating strikes.

Very graceful i would love to learn Tai Chi Quan most of my background is in Karate, a blend of Kickboxing consistent of Muay Thai, Kyokushin, Shotokan, Kenpo, as far as that goes and currently a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ive been doing martial arts for over half my life but i dont feel like ive ever had a chance to learn something softer like Tai Chi and now that im getting older it would be a nice change

The cultural revolution in China, Killed martial artists… And the ones that were hidden as a routine were the ones that survived for the most part
