  • 1950's radio show speaker and author, Earl Nightingale tells the story of the "Strangest Secret in the World". His talk is based heavily on the book by Napoleon Hill; "Think and Grow Rich", which was originally published in 1937. If you seek this book out, know that it was updated at every publishing. Nightingale was a survivor of quite a few serious life catastrophes, but his life took a turn for the better after finding the famous book by Napoleon Hill. No doubt many major motivational speakers took their roots from this record and Hill's books. Bob Proctor certainly makes mention of this in his media.
Later in 2006 "The Secret" would hit the scene and approach the same topic in an almost mystical method. This latest approach to the information has been called; "The Law of Attraction". The style of "The Secret" brought this information into the mainstream consciousness but fell out of popularity due to its' kind of hokey, mystical presentation found in the book and subsequent video that was so widely publicized.
These ideas can, of course, be traced back thousands of years. However, Earl Nightingale has a very practical approach to summing the message up into about 35 minutes on this record he made in 1956. Although the tone and attitude of his time are quite different from today, a lot of the message still rings true. It places the responsibility for a person's life squarely where it belongs - on the individual. After listening to this, I went back and listened to Napoleon Hill's book that inspired this lecture. I feel as if I've been given a gift by coming across the motivational speeches and other works by these two men and wanted to show some sort of appreciation.
I made the animated version of "The Strangest Secret in the World" as a visual aid to maybe serve as a hook for todays' media overloaded and ADHD viewers. The point was to make the best version of the video that would pull folks further down this rabbit hole until they can just calmly sit and listen. Then maybe we can begin to understand that “we become what we think about”. Maybe we can slow down and realize that many of us have been hurt and even torn down by life, but there is a way to turn it around. There is a way to begin living the life we want to live, and it begins in one's own mind.
By listening to this video for 30 days in a row I have begun to cultivate the Earl Nightingale attitude. I'm not so sure that I'll lead the field as he did, however, my mind is beginning to work more in my favor increasingly every day. This motivational video is intended to be passed around freely as it came to me. I also read "Think and Grow Rich", by Napoleon Hill. This video and Hill's book have set me on a new path. I'm still the same guy and still make plenty of mistakes. However, by using the tools I found in these works, I am practicing a more methodical approach to how I let my mind wander and how I gear it up for the day. Below are the contents of this whiteboard animated video listed out. If you hear something that compels you or sparks your inspiration, you can easily skip back/forward to that section. Best of luck to you in your endeavor.

I listened to Earl as a young boy on the radio for the five minute chats. I agree with Earl. As you think, so you will be.
