  • A thrown-out back really just means that your back muscles are seized up, you're in a lot of pain, and it hurts to move.
In this video, Dr. O'Guin, a St. Louis chiropractor, discusses strategies to help relax muscle spasms in the lower back. One tip is to relax your body in general. Mental stress or tension is stored in the body and makes it hard for the reflexive muscle spasm to release.
The stretches that are demonstrated include:
Piriformis stretch, happy baby, hip switches, hip flexor stretch, cat/cow, cobra pose, and low back twist stretches.

Thank you! Laying on an ice pack currently, mustering up the courage to try some stretches.

Why is it that no one can help someone with certical dystonia? All doctors in the US say its a neurological disorder which mostly isnt true. Its mostly from an accident etc. I know what I need done but doctors are too lazy it seems to help me. I was in a car accident in my 20s which crushed the right cheekbone. Then I had upper and lower jaw surgery and cheek implants. I went many years with no issues but while in Asia teaching English I did forward head posture nightly over a computer and was under a lot of stress. I started having severe back pain then voice changes then slowly my head started twisting to the right. In the US they diagnosed me with cervical dystonia and they only help with botox. I tried it and felt nothing so no thanks. I want a doctor that can rebalance my muscles in my body and try to find the underlying cause.I am now 66 and want to cry. I no longer trust most doctors
