- Ultravox performing at Live Aid in front of 72,000 people in Wembley Stadium, London on the 13th July, 1985. The event was organised by Sir Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise funds for the Ethiopian famine disaster. Here, Midge Ure really does something wonderful. Sick with a high fever, he sings, among others, this piece all by himself doing even the backing vocals to the best of his ability. Gigantic!
0:02 That shot of the showtimes is a wonderful piece of history. I wired up my parents stereo to the TV and watched the whole thing live - pure magic.
We did that too!
Now compare that lineup to any of todays’ festivals…!
They had the dressing room assignment sign on display for the Philadelphia show at the RockHall in Cleveland. I took a pic of it. Pure classic!!! If anyone remembers the show. It was an incredible weekend.
For seconds....I thought I was there,in that day , Once again!🙈😄WHAT A MAGNIFICENT Day in the history of World music!☝️🌎 UNREPEATABLE.
E EU ESTAVA EM CASA DE FÉRIAS DO INTERNATO !! ASSISTINDO A HISTÓRIA SER ESCRITA !! 😎😅🤘🏻
Philadelphia was good, too. Still have the T-shirt -- and it still fits.
I was 14 years Old ....i never forgett these Day.
I was 17 years Old ....and I never forget these day too. 🙂
Its 2022. I wish music like this was still being produced.
Wie ich diese tolle Zeit vermisse . Leider vergehen die Jahre viel zu schnell .
He really is a wonderful man. Extremely talented and underestimated for his musicality. Just like Bob he should have knighted by now.
Love it! Really takes me back! Have loved Midge's stuff since I first witnessed the early Ultravox stuff being played on USA's Night Flight program way back. Wore it all out... from this tune to Breathe, to everything in between. So many of the Live Aid performanes were AWESOME... U2's "Bad", Bowie's "Heros", Queen's "Radio Ga Ga", etc etc. But Midge's performanxe should be equally remembered. It bums me out that my brother and I always felt like we were the only ones who loved Ultravox, Kate Bush, Marillion, and so many other less well-known British artists as we grew up in WY and MT during the 1980s. But it was others' loss for not getting with the program. This stuff is awesome! P.S... over the years... I have found others here who knew about the good stuff.
Live Aid 1985 the best show all of time!!!
Thank you Live Aid for this song!
Even I miss these days and I was born in 2003!
i love this song!!😍😍😍 great band of skydreams, congrats from México
Wow, it takes me back...outstanding.
Still a great tune , awesome !
Wonderful Ultravox!
I’m so glad that the songs which were omitted in the official Live Aid DVD are now posted in the CZcams Channel. I have watched this about teen years ago but in other channels with lower quality. What I enjoyed the most besides listening one of my favourite bands Ultravox, was the marvellous edition. The fact that it includes many unpublished behind the scenes clips made me so happy because I always have dreamt of being there. Thank you so much.
Me too! I’m hoping that eventually we’ll be able watch the whole thing all the way through.
Agreed!
beautiful synth works/harmonies from ure and currie..
warren cann is a human beat machine

2:10 midge is thinking “hell yeah, I nailed that.”
Que voz más elegante la de Midge Ure. Mi adolescencia
❤Ultravox! Live Aid rocks! - Heather
Sounds better than I thought at the time, decent performance.
CREO TAMBIÉN QUE ESTE TEMA NO ESTÁ EN LA CAJA COMO LO DISFRUTE QUE HERMOSO CONCIERTO LIVE AID NO ME CANSÓ DE VERLO
Top 10 of all 80s
Good use of the backstage clips to fill in the parts where you had audio but no video.
Saw Ultravox I think 81,82, at The Opera House Blackpool, they were superb , but it shows here they were never a Stadium band , they sound like they're in Band Practice , no disrespect , all that performed at Wembley , Big respect , it was a History maker and I think everyone down to the box office attendance to loo attendants deserved a OBE that day
Rember this day like it was yesterday.
I watched and video-taped whole shows on TV in Japan. 日本ではフジテレビ系列がライブ中継を一晩中してました。日本での最高視聴率は確か18%だったと思います。
Meeeee ENCANTA 😍🥰 lindo

1/3 of teh world watched this. and that does not include the ones withour tellys
Hmmm Emulator didnt emulate the string sound so well.Rush job?
No no no single no
Could have used some backup singers to give the song the real punch. Great song nonetheless.
Not their best performance.what no backing vocals? At one point he misses words out expecting them. Great singer but not this song. And whats with the string sound ?
Midge was sick. He had a fever of 39 and a runny nose
RIP Chris, so sad news! 😢😢
