  • I take the #echo PPT-2620 #polesaw for the first use cleaning up my driveway. I learned a couple things from this first day of use
    1) This thing is a beast!
    2) Your off hand, left arm for me, gets a serious workout
There must be a better shoulder strap to use with this thing. The one weak point for me was the strap, almost pointless.
This is what I learned from browsing around the big bad Internet, using my own noggin and/or talking to friends. Take any information I provide as that, information. You must make decisions based upon your own research. And, as always, I am open to input from others to help expand my knowledge!

Press the bulb several times to fill, place choke on to start regardless of weather conditions. Within a pull or two it will burp and typically die. Immediately take choke off and pull one last time to go.
I have had quite a few echo devices and they all operate the same. On more than one occasion my neighbors have told me that they pull and pull like you did and I find that they miss one of the two first crucial steps.
Hope that help for anyone tired of pulling. Usually works on Stihl too.
Thanks for the full action review. I will be buying that model this week.

Good advice! My Stihl chainsaw was always a pain to start. I flooded it out bad one time and went to the shop to talk to them. They said basically the same thing. The one thing they said different was on full choke only pull three times, go half until it burps and dies then no choke. Since i have been using that starting method my Stihl has been rock solid.

Now you went and did it... You need to buy a woodchipper to get rid of all the cut-off branches. It never ends. lol

I have already talked to my finical advisor (aka wife) about the desire for a wood chipper. I t will be a while but getting one of those is on the list :)

Put the shoulder strap un under your collar. Always cut from uphill position. Cut at full speed. 2 strokes do not have low end torque.

The 2 stroke torque was quickly known. My previous, although cheesy, pole saw was battery and when you pull the trigger it was just max power. This one works a bit different there. BUT, this Echo is sweet once you master it. Overall I was unhappy by the shoulder strap. Under collar is good pointer but the clip kept coming undone, even with the safty bar to keep it from coming undone. Obviously I was doing something wrong there. Time will help learn the strap.

Beautiful property. I just bought the same saw.

      Thanks!
I am still loving thsi saw. I did buy a multi-pack of chains for this thing off the big-box online store. I am cutting locust trees as I cleared fence lines and the chain would go dull in 6-7 cuts. Easier to swap a chain and sharper a lot of them later.
