This is amazing that Dan, who is not a citizen of the United States sings our national anthem with more power and pride then most of the people who perform it on a national stage need to look at this and realize the importance this country has to free people around the world.

Agreed!!! I saw a few other reactions to Dan’s ‘apology’ and a couple of them almost didn’t get to the good part…. the🖕. They were so upset through the first minute because they didn’t know Dan like Viking does! They thought he was sincerely apologizing and were angry that he was doing so. SMH

As an American I LOVED Dan's version!! I really don't understand why people get offended but hey, I will gladly help them pack their bags !!

I am from the U. S, A. I'm 62, and I've listened to this many times. I DO NOT have a problem with this. And yes, he should sing here at the super bowl. I like how he felt that he needed to sing this song. So don't worry about what these people said, not all of us feel that way. Thank you for your rendition, it was beautiful.

Mine too. When I saw it was saturday my heart jumped. My two favorits at once - Dan and the Viking. Nothing can be better than that.
I loved his rendition. Especially at the end when he gives you the shoulder, umph!!!! When you read the history of the song, it was not a pretty sight. So many lost their lives just to keep it flying. No surrender no retreat!!!! God Bless America and Dan Vasc for reminding us of that.

The resistance of Baltimore's Fort McHenry during bombardment by the Royal Navy inspired Francis Scott Key to compose the poem "Defence of Fort McHenry," which later became the lyrics for "The Star-Spangled Banner," the national anthem of the United States. It was mid-winter at Fort McHenry. British demanded that the Flag be taken down. All night men held the flag up with their bodies. In the morning “the flag was still there”.

What I love about Dan's version of The Star Spangled Banner is not just the power he puts into it, but that he sings the actual melody without a bunch of unnecessary ornamentation. Also, the tempo is perfect--it's an anthem not a dirge.

It's nice when reflecting on the historical struggle for independance and the clash with the British to realize that despite minor differences the U.S. and Great Britian are now great allies and enjoy and share one anothers culture and customs. I as an American am extremely fond of our British friends and may God bless both our countries.

I like that you did the Apology first! NICELY DONE! 😀 I was EXACTLY the same way when I heard the apology (AFTER the Anthem, but that was OK, too). I had only been watching Dan's channel for about three days, but I already KNEW that that apology couldn't be what it SEEMED to be. HOW REFRESHING!
Before I listen to the anthem, I want to make note that the merch store is still temporarily down. When Represent sold out to Cameo, Dan's store (and others) were completely wiped out. Dan mentioned (in late February 2024 -- in the Young Rippa "For Canon's Sake" video with Eric July), that he'll be rebuilding the merch store, but he just hasn't had time to do it yet. More than likely, he'll announce it on his CZcams Community page, when it's back in business.
OK...onward to the "Star Spangled Banner."
My dad (who fought in WW2, under General Patton) was like that with us, Carlos. We were taught to stand up for our rights, and our opinions, be ready to at least LISTEN to other opinions, with the intent to think things out, but NEVER give up on what we truly believe.
From what Dan has said in other places, most of the people who were offended, were actually from his own country.
Almost all of the reactors have mentioned that he could sing the Anthem at the next Superbowl. He IS trying to get a visa, but I'm not even sure they'd let a non-citizen sing the Anthem. I agree, though...it would be SUPER if he could actually do that.

Thanks for another entertaining yet insightful reaction. I am very picky about how people perform the Star Spangled Banner and generally don't like it when people muck around with it, adding all kinds of frills and fancy stuff. But I appreciate Dan's "in your face" metal version. And I appreciate even more his reaction to the people who whined about it.

Yea for SaturDANday! I also heard Dan's "Apology" before hearing his actual song & had the same feelings of confusion & suspicion that there had to be a catch when watching the feigned apology. Love your reactions to this, Viking. Thank you. Keep instilling those ideals of strength in your kids. This world is a battleground, not a playground.
Dan's version of our National Anthem (I'm a Texan & Boone descendant) is in my top 3, and he's not even an American. However, he's more American in many ideals than some who actually live here. It was an homage to honor our country's Independence Day celebration because he admires the U.S. and the sentiment is not wasted on me by any means. It touched my heart. I love his retaliation strategy of profiting off of the controversy in order to further slap haters in the face. I would have loved having a "Don't mind the wimps" shirt, too.
The other 2 versions of our Star Spangled Banner which I love are Whitney Houston's iconic version from the 90's and Madison Rising's rock version with lead singer & Navy/Marine veteran David Bray (who is solo now & still sounds great). The way he sings this song - it is the only song I've seen him perform, where he has actual tension in his neckmuscles, which is a clear sign, he is belting this at (or very close to) his absolute max volume.
And the intensity and emphasis he puts into the word 'Brave' at the end, is evident to his love and admiration.
His 'apology' is so hilarious - he got me good the first time i saw it, because i knew his mindset, and i was like 'omg nooo, this is not right, don't apologize Dan...' to almost peeing myself laughing.
Today, after seeing it many times, i can see the mischief in his eyes right from the start.
Unfortunately he no longer has his 'Don't mind the wimps' tshirts for sale.
Just because of that... I should create one myself and share the profits with this man :P

Kidding aside, I quite enjoy Dan's rendition of our national anthem and enjoy his "apology" even more. This is how every American should regard those trying to tear this nation apart.

As an American, I am proud of my country and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else in the world. Do I understand that the United States has flaws? Of course I do. Am I happy with or proud of every one of the decisions or policies that different leaders and politicians in my country have made? Of course not. What makes me proud, is the foundation that this country was built upon and anyone who knows the basics of the founding fathers and what they established for our nation, they'll know exactly what I mean by that.
The problem that I see today, is that the younger generations have a thoroughly twisted understanding of our history and what it means to be an American. They've been taught by propagandists who've slowly been infiltrating our education system and our media (and most facets of our society) to despise the country that's given them the ability to have all of the "material" things that they are far too obsessed with, but to not have the slightest appreciation for the freedoms that were won, in order to even make those "things" a possibility.
In a nutshell, if more people truly understood the potential of this country and the patriots who've fought for (and who are still fighting for) the United States of America that our founders envisioned, this world would not be mired in the chaos and division that exists today.
As for the anthem... Well, call me old fashioned and even a bit sappy, but I'm not a big fan of our anthem being altered in any way. However, that being said... If anyone was going to get a pass from me for changing it up at all, it would be, without question, Dan Vasc! And I loved his "apology". Definitely saw that coming! LOL
And last, but certainly not least... Thank you Viking, for taking such a respectful and well thought out stance on the right of ALL people to be proud of their country, in spite of it's flaws. That makes you a totally righteous and upstanding dude in my eyes! Skoal! 🤟
