The tone down technique will help me a lot. I've been trying to mix colors with grays for the same effect.
Grey could work though, if the right shade of grey. I think you will have more control fine tuning the color by using the complimentary colors!

Are the cards warping from too much water? Or are they foils?
@@pokefairyrose Mostly foil peels from pokemon cards or they were warped to begin with... I'm using those full art pokemon foils with a gym leader and their companion pokemon and gluing it onto the magic card. It could be water damage so I now use a hair dryer to dry the foil layer before gluing it on
