    Wow, that looked super beautiful! I was going to ask how you pack for hiking, snorkeling, and everything else, but then you answered the question! That last calanque is definitely going on my must see list, those views were crazy gorgeous, can't imagine that in person!

      I definitely didn’t pack as well for the hiking portion. I needed much better shoes for sure. It’s absolutely gorgeous and for sure worth the trip. I would love to go back and explore other hikes and calanques!

    Hi there, NEVER EVER walk the calanques in sandals or, even worse, flip flops. Most of the hiking pathes are rocky with loose scree, many spots are completely polished by millions of visitors a year. Please, for your own safety and security, always wear hiking shoes and take a lot of water with you. The calanques are beautiful, but dangerous. Nice video though. Best regards.

      Yes, I definitely learned sandals were not a good idea. They were hiking sandals so sturdier than flip flops or cute sandals but definitely need lots of traction for that hike. Thanks for watching

    Well, now that you asked about the pronunciation yourself :)
    The "qu" in French is basically pronounced as a K, and as the final -e does not have any accents, it's silent. Same for the plural -s... also silent.
    Therefore it's pronounced ka-lank.
    But great video!

    • @AnyoneCanTravel
      @AnyoneCanTravel  Před 2 lety +1

      Thank you! French pronunciation is so difficult for me I tend to try and pronounce everything like it’s Spanish. Your explanation made it super easy to understand though!

      @@AnyoneCanTravel For your next video, you might want to Google “how to pronounce X”- there is often a few videos out there (as there is with calanque) I liked your video but found it really distracting every time you pronounced it wrong…you don’t have to say it with a perfect French accent, just get it in a better ball park. That shows respect for where you’re going, you would appreciate it if others did it for you! 😁
      So for example, the following is fine:
      Ka - LONK
      For the town, there are two ways to say it:
      Ka - SEES
      Ka - SEE

      Thank you!
      We just did the one day to see calanque d’en-vau, but if you enjoy hiking there are a lot of different hikes so you could spend 2-3 days or even more exploring all the calanques in the park. Some are closer to Marseille though.

    Hi! I'm going there in 45 days (second week of October). How was the water? Too cold? And what about the restaurants and stores in Cassis? Do they close for the season or something like this? Thanks a lot! Amazing video!

      Hi! We went the second week of October in 2021 and it was awesome. The water is cold but it was still warm enough outside that after hiking it was fine. There were lots of people swimming too. We didn’t spend too much time in Cassis. We just went in the evening after the hike and everything was open. Lots of restaurants and shops along the water were busy. You’re going to have a great time. Visiting in October was so nice. Thank you! ❤️

    Thank you for the info. You mentioned having a car. We are renting a car in Marsaille and driving to Cassis. Did you do that? Was it a good experience generally? It was helpful to hear about your parking tips. Those will be very handy.

    • @AnyoneCanTravel
      @AnyoneCanTravel  Před 2 lety +1

      We actually rented a car in Nice and went to Verdon, Moustiers, and Valensole first and then down to Cassis and back to Nice. If you have time I highly recommend Verdon and Moustiers. Valensole was nice but would be best in the summer when the lavender is blooming (we went in October).
      Renting a car from Marseille will probably be much more convenient for Calanques though since there should be less tolls. There were quite a few tolls from Cassis to Nice. It was $43 dollars in tolls total to get everywhere I listed. Otherwise driving was a good experience.

      Hi! Thanks for watching 😊
      We didn’t have any trouble finding street parking on Avenue Notre Dame in October. In the summer I would recommend arriving early since it will be more crowded.
      We stayed at this airbnb and enjoyed it! It was only one night and we were headed back to Nice in the morning so we didn’t mind that it was about 15-20 minutes from Cassis. abnb.me/JJvis1NCDzb

    • @AnyoneCanTravel

    Hi, we are planning to visit there. How is the road there? My car is really low and don't want to get stuck. Thanks

    • @AnyoneCanTravel
      @AnyoneCanTravel  Před rokem +1

      Hi! The roads to and in Cassis are all paved and easy to drive. You can’t drive to the calanques you have to hike so there are no dirt roads or rocky roads that your car would get stuck on. You may be able to drive to other calanques from Marseille or other areas but these ones are only from hiking or a boat.
