    The proper way to clear a clog in a VacuFlush toilet is to use a stick/rod/etc, something relatively rigid and to try and break up the clog in the funnel. Pushing it through is not advised at it can get caught further downstream, particularly in the duckbill valves of the pump. Make sure to shut off the water, drain the pressure from the system, then hold the pedal down while breaking up the clog.
    I furnish all my customers with an 18" section of 5/8" PEX tubing with a chisel cut on the end that they are to use to break up the clog.
    Of course, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Make sure you advise all people to hold the pedal down for at least 3 seconds before letting it snap up. This allows the waste to clear the funnel before the system is closed and allowed to bring the vacuum back up. If you do this, I can guarantee you a 99.9% uptime on your toilet. The biggest cause of problems on VacuFlush systems is not holding the pedal down long enough.

    Well, Captain, you are welcome to stick your hand down in there if you like! But what I have found in 17 years of dual Vacu-Flush ownership, is after shutting off the water as you describe (and ensuring that no pressure still exists in the system to add to the water level in the bowl) is to poke a metal rod about 3/16 inch diameter down to and thru the blockage at the choker tube. The vacuum will then pull the "debris" thru into the drainage line. Works every time!

      Earl Fields saw this comment after I stuck my hand through urine and feces. The vacuum then almost sucked the bag that was protecting my arm out of me. I almost threw up!!!!

    This seemed like step one, there needs to be a follow up for if that doesn’t work because it did not for me.

    This helped, but careful about wrapping your hand in plastic bag. I did, and as soon as blockage cleared, it sucked bag off my hand and almost into the system. I was able to grab it and pull it out which averted a potentially even bigger problem.

    What if the blockage is in the middle of the tube and you can't reach it with your hand. What do you do then?

    • @MotoryachtsUnlimited
      @MotoryachtsUnlimited  Před 5 lety +1

      Hi Leslie, there is a way of increase the vacuum or suction in the line from the holding tank end but you will need a technical person to do this. The suction pump is controlled by a limit switch on the pump. If you override this it will increase the vacuum over and above the normal which may clear the blockage. You can risk damaging other parts though if you go to far.
