    Just FYI, That square head is all over the place down here in the US and has been for several years.
    I have actually seen a flat/philips/square head screws. They don't work well because too much material is missing on the head.

    I think my pressure is bad too - after flushing pump is not turn on. If i physically pull on the spring to engage switch pump will run and create vacuum but pump will not turn on without me pulling on the spring to engage switch. Ive tried to adjust switch not luck

    Install a FlushGuard. It won't run the pump when the vacuum leaks out, only when you flush. It is the electronic replacement for the mechanical switch. The fact is, the vacuum flush systems, by their nature, will lose vacuum when any debris gets stuck in the duck bill valves, or seal at the toilet. Flushing again fixes it 99% of the time, but without the flush guard, your pump will be running until you discover it, or your battery goes dead, or the pump wears out, etc.

      Do you have the link for the flushguard?

      Flushguard you say? I've never heard of that, but will check it out now. Thanks for the heads up.

    If my vacuflush keeps "chugging" after using the toilet until the switch is turned off, would you venture to guess it's the bellows or the pressure switch that's the culprit?

    • @BoatingWithBoogaboo
      @BoatingWithBoogaboo  Před 4 lety

      It could be either (or both) of those items, but I'd look at the more basic components first. I would check - or better yet just replace - the duck bill valves. Depending on your boat, they probably haven't been changed in years and are due. And always have spares onboard, as they tend to wear out at the least convenient times. The other thing to look at, although less likely in this instance, is the toilet seal, where the bowl meets the base.
      Check my Vacuflush playlist on my channel for a look at all of the above and more!
      Cheers, Paul.

    How did you know the switch was the problem?

    Hi Paul, I dived into your archives to find this video, as I was about to change my pressure switch. I couldn’t find your video where you talk about adjusting the cut-off point. My new part appeared to have the knurled knob set in position with Loctite. I had to break it free to back it off about a half a turn so that the vacuum pump would switch off. Did yours work fine at the factory preset position?
    Great video as usual. Happy Boating.
    Phil from Down Under.

    • @BoatingWithBoogaboo
      @BoatingWithBoogaboo  Před 3 lety

      Yes, keeping the factory setting is best and most recommended. You might have a leak somewhere else down the line causing the pump to cycle more frequently. Check the simple things like the toilet seal and the duck bill valves. . .

    • @starshiptrooper7520
      @starshiptrooper7520 Před 3 lety

      @@BoatingWithBoogaboo Thanks Paul, reply much appreciated. The toilet is fine. It holds water in the bowl indefinitely. The vacuum pump didn’t cycle, it ran continuously. The existing vacuum switch was 15 years old and unable to be adjusted. I had to back off the setting on the new vacuum switch to prevent the vacuum pump from running continuously. Once it shuts off, it stays off. The vacuum pump itself is original (15 years) so it could be getting a little tired. New bellows or a complete new pump assembly will be in order if I ever need to back off the pressure switch any further.
      Cheers, Phil

      Here's one from our spring launch, back in May of this year. Should give you a pretty good idea of what she looks like; czcams.com/video/5pDrQ0W9B4A/video.html

    Ya, being a boat owner requires 2 things - Vaseline and a Credit Card. What they charge for "Marine" parts is a crime. I try to find non-marine equivalents. Ha:)
    I am sure who ever came up with the flat head screw is long dead and buried. I can't stand that companies still use them. They must be using up old stock or cheap and stupid engineers. Errrr!
    I had brass flat head screws holding my impeller plate on. Just 4 years in salt water and I ended up breaking one off. There was enough of a stub that I could get out with needle nose pliers. I hate brass bolts/screws and flat heads. Really, 4 or 5 extra bucks for stainless hardware on a couple $100K boat would make a difference?
    All the best to you and anchor girl!

    Very good basic information to know. However the benefit is significantly distracted from by the verbosity and the Trashy language. Also, did the author never hear of nitrile or latex exam gloves as opposed to exposing one's hands directly to feces?
