    There are no words that could explain what Roglič means to Slovenia. He is the definition of a true Slovenian. Quiet, shy, yet determined and stubborn. Never gives up and fights every single day. Perfect winner and a huge achievement for him and for his nation. Incredible comeback story. You can't make this stuff up. Fairytale.

      what do you mean "the definition of a true Slovenian", what's a true Slovenian?

    • @lzzrzzr06
      @lzzrzzr06 Před 11 měsíci +59

      @@toobalkain true Slovenian: at the core Slovenian people cherish and respect the values that made them where they are today. A native "true" Slovenian was a farmer, who lived in a beautiful nature. But that nature was also harsh, cruel and deadly, so in order to survive he had to be hard working, stubborn, kind and humble.
      The way Roglič won the Giro in combination with the location on Monte Lussari goes deep into the roots of the mentality of Slovenian people. This has almost religious undertones when you get deep down into emotional aspect of it. And if you just think that it was his friend from a younger age, who got lost and then just happened to be there in the right moment to push him on when the chain fell off ...
      This is bigger than life moment and people can feel it.

It was an inspiring victory but where do you see religious undertones, aren't Slovenians like the 2nd most atheistic nation on Earth after the Chinese?
      I've heard that bit about the friend but what do you mean he got lost, he got lost on the mountain, or had they lost touch, Roglič and that guy and then he just happened to be there when the chain fell off? Now that would almost have a religious undertone, Jung would have called it synchronicity, maybe they're meant for each other, Roglič and his long lost "buddy".:)

    Nice summary by ES, I only wish they added Primož "disbelief" when they told him in the tent , that he has won.
    A word about fans:
    1. I want to congratulate fans (probably 85% of them were Slovenian), which did respect Thomas and moved to the side when he was ridding and did not do any antics like in some races ; overall Giro spectators are the best of all 3 GCs.
    2. I am disappointed in some Slovenian fans who were too close when Primož was ridding (I think someone even touched him). I understand that there is emotion involved (or sadly sometimes even alcohol), but there is no excuse for someone to run next to any rider! In this kind of stages , people can/should yell all they want, but there is no excuse not to move yourself to the edge of the road and cheer from there like a true cycling fan.
    Amazing work from Italian organizers to prepared this stage logistic nightmare to a perfection; they also organized free buses from Slovenian side of the border. Overall, people could learn a lot from this years Giro.
