From what I’ve read (months ago, so maybe it changed) HMD cannot use Lumia design, because they cannot. The owner of that “style” is still a Microsoft.
I can't thank god enough for not being the only one obsessed with lumia phone since the beginning, it's so beautiful to see someone that sees and remembers all the beauty of nokia lumia , i remember screenshoting and watching all the nokia lumia photos and videos on my ipad 2 as a kid and growing up to buying many nokias after the unfortunate death of the brand , but thankfully in my country i can still hop in a sim card in a lumia and it still works
That's the thing about Lumia phones, they were soo beautifully designed that you can keep looking at them for the whole day without getting bored unlike the majority of android and iphones we get nowadays
This is really nice! The 720 is the best looking Lumia in my opinion, the second being the 820. I still have them simply because it's a joy just by looking at them.

This is the first lumia I’ve ever wanted to have. Simple designed midrange device with amazing skin colors. Power performance nice for that time and that system (I want to come back the WP 8.1

The live tiles setup was such a brilliant design.. Especially when they added transparency. Nokia really needs to embrace the wacky Lumia colours again.
I still have this device and use it everyday for music, movies and podcasts. Found it a couple years ago for dirt cheap in amazing condition. I love it. While it can’t do much nowadays, that clearblack display is still great to watch movies on. And it makes glance possible, which is one of the most charming features of lumias. I have the Lumia Desktop software installed, and I transfer podcasts and music to it that way. The best part about this phone is it feels well made even though it was always meant to be the cheaper option to the 920. And the fit in my hands is perfect. The design was way ahead of its time. If anyone hasn’t held this device in their hands yet, you’re missing out. It’s weight is deceiving, the plastic is real high quality- better than what Samsung was using for years to come and the button placement is spot on. And the unit I found still has an awesome battery life. I updated it to GDR2 which is the latest wp version any non windows 10 Lumia will run. Although it was a bit of a pain to update.
@@AbdullaZaki Sadly it’s the generic black. I am on the lookout for official coloured cases sold by Nokia back in the day (especially the Qi ones) but that feels like finding a needle in a haystack.
I had a red lumia 720. My mom had used it between 2013-15. I used it from 2015-19. I miss using the windows phone. I had played Asphalt 8 throughout my childhood on that phone. I had completed the game as well. Subway surfers, temple run, angry birds, asphalt 8, age of empires and a lot more. Made my childhood a lot more enjoyable hahaha
Nostalgia! i had one in red. I just pulled it out of box last week. Those were really cool days. I remember how i started doing photography on the phone and instagram too was just picking up in those days. The phone really stood out with its sleek shiny design (Even had wireless charging with a snap on cover required) . I used it for around 4 years before the buttons got damaged and i can't switch the phone on again. I remember the small well knit community we had on windows central and how everyphone was hyped up when joe belfiore announced windowsphone 8.1. The app support was a bummer. They tried catching up but were shunned by a few developers (snapchat) Also, one of the reasons of their demise was change of leadership. Every month we had usage stats and the lumia range was popular on lower and mid range and expanding well in europe and asia. Satya nadella decided to pull the plug citing "We are a software company and not a hardware" Though, later he regrets why we retracted from the smartphone segment. Though, it was really cool to own a lumia in it's own time.
These old Lumia devices are still better than today's new generation phones. I really wish hmd global Nokia and Microsoft release few windows 10 devices.

Thank you, Abdulla, for making this great review. I always wanted to get the Nokia 920; I know you are speaking about the 720. On Nokiamob you wrote the review of the 720 and I feel I may have forgotten which is the one I wanted all along. I liked the 720 but now I see that the Nokia 920 is the one I craved for, it might be because it had an 8mpx sensor vs the 720's 6.7mpx sensor. I got the Nokia 735 instead with the same type of camera sensor, which it had 6 elements to be able to capture some amazing photographs. Even though I had super positive feedback about the 920's body design, not to mention I wanted the yellow or red vs the plain white on the Nokia 735 I had, but the camera of the 735 made me feel grateful enough with my choice. Nokia software camera tricks really were ahead of its time, with amazing action shots, being able to choose which frame you wanted or include all of them was the best part of taking photographs. I do not see that on any phone nowadays. The 720's camera, I remember reading was not too far from the specs of my Nokia 735 which I lost when moving. The shutter speed, ISO, focus, able to configurate white balance, the list goes on. While Pixel and Samsung as well as some Huaweii phones dominate photography, back when these Lumias were around they were top of the game, and I believe this is why is hard for a lot of Nokia fans to forget. We hold great nostalgia for these devices that may have been abandoned, becoming obsolete, but not forgotten!
Hi Abdullah I have Lumia 1520 with me still and i loved the size of this phone. i had all the nokia phones from the time they brought windows on it. I am still holding on to 1520 as I love this phone so much along with 950XL.

I still have my 720. It's in yellow. The camera was great for the time but the phone had it's fair share of issues, one of which was, it'd freeze up randomly and since the battery couldn't be removed, I had to wait till the battery got discharged and the phone turned off. This had happened way too many times and it was frustrating to say the least. I also remember updating the software to Windows 10 on this through the Windows Insider program 😁
I've seen some people face such issues on launch software, and yeah you could just hold power button and volume down for a few seconds to get the device to restart. How was the experience on Windows 10? I'd imagine not as good as WP8
@@AbdullaZaki yes but the volume down button on my phone was faulty, it didn't work 😂 So I had to wait for the battery to get discharged, everytime. WP10 was pretty good, pretty fluid. I liked it better than WP8 because I found WP8 to be pretty boring at the time 😛
No other range of phones had so much afordable style, both hardware and software-wise, as a Lumia range. I still find them very atractive and appealing.

My mum had a 720 in red. That was her first Lumia and it was great phone for its time. The only complaint was the pointy corners which made it a little uncomfortable to hold in the palm in landscape orientation.
I had the next best iteration of this phone Lumia 730, it had OLED display, better pixel density. Upgraded to Windows 10, 1 gig of ram never lagged once. I had it for 5 whole years despite the lack of app availability. Changed the phone only cos WhatsApp stopped their support for Windows phones. I still have it in my desk drawer.
That is my first Nokia Lumia even 2nd hand. Even if it has touch screen issues. So in love with this metro tiles and absolute black display. 😍 I cannot find the feels with today's flagship. And even it is midrange, it does not feel any lag honestly. Except the camera of course. Missing Old Nokia days.
It was a fantastic phone. I had a yellow 720 and then a white 730. It had everything needed. In my experience the real drawback was the ppi on the screen. I remember using Here maps for the first time on the 720 and being blown away. Controversial to Nokia windows phone users but the 720,730,1320 are my favourite midrange phone from Nokia. Not because they had the best to offer, but because they offered so much more then the competition at that price point. And the Nokia sweet of apps was just so polished a long with how well windows phone ran on lower end hardware, just made the whole experience so much more engaging. Great phone and great video. Maybe in the future you could do the 730 as a follow up to show how Nokia took it up a peg to address the short comings of the 720😉
If I was buying it back in the day I would be so conflicted between yellow red or cyan haha. The 730 is another one of those gems I'd love to cover on the channel one day. Nokias services were indeed fantastic, and in many areas way ahead of their time. But Nokia was so bad at showcasing their advantages, its a shame.
I had a red Lumia 720. It was sleek and had a great battery. Camera was really awesome at that time. I miss it. Wish Microsoft brings Windows Phone back.
Hey Abdullah , I am using nokia 6.1 plus since 2018 and now I am feeling bored of using Android 10. I want to purchase a new one but the question is - should I choose any nokia phone which is on Android 12 or should I look to another brand?
Depends on your budget. If you want near stock android experience and you have $500 to spend on a phone then wait for pixel 6a. If not then nokia is your best bet i think.

But Android one in nokia is pretty much good as I think because it has some features which lack in stock Android. But if I compare it with other ui like miui , Color os , oxygen OS , it seems to lack in feature

It's a complicated question to answer! Stock android works really well on midrange and lower powered smartphones because its lightweight. I always chose based on design first and a basic look at specs that I find reasonable. Any devices from Nokia or others that grabbed your attention?
my wife had a yellow 720. lovely phone. windows phone was a superior OS to android and ios. it was well ahead of its time and coupled with Nokia's design language, it was a great fit.
it was my first smart phone, also my first lumia. i had the red one. man i still miss using it. one of the great design in respect of appearance and os wise
Nice video covering it. I still have my 720 in white polycarbonate, and still use it as my alarm clock. Unfortunately, the microphone died in mine within 3 years, and so did the vibration motor. One thing that was unacceptable was the poor web browser performance. If you use it today, you'd experience stalls and crashes all the time - it was even a problem when the phone was in regular use.
I accidently bought a nokia windows phone back almost 10 years ago. I customized it using the os, HATED it initially but grew to now love this more than any other os to date. It was solid! I wish this os didn't fade away so quick. Just wish windows would have removed their own dumb apps and google wasn't a little b about passing along their apps. It was amazing though! I created a custom theme through the os for my tiles so I could turn on and off the wifi with a click, flashlight, browser launcher, important apps, cell data, and bluetooth. It was clean and gorgeous!
I hope we live to see, that either Nokia or Microsoft tries to revive these devices. I always get excited when I see a video from you talking about a Lumia. But I restrain myself not to start up my old Lumias... I focus my ex-Nokia passions on my Sony Xperia 10 with SFOS. That is only what is left and still can work as a daily. 😞
Back in 2014, I went to buy this phone at the Nokia Priority store and they said it's not available right now, and can't say anything when it'll come, so I had to buy Lumia 625 😅
I had Lumia 630 then Lumia 640XL. I'd say that it's just a shame that Nokia/Microsoft didn't go forward with Windows mobile, one of the best OS I've ever used. Greetings from Finland ;)

Wait till battery to drain?... If I not wrong, long pressing the Power key ( for almost 10 - 15 seconds) will reboot the device.

Hey Abdullah , I am using nokia 6.1 plus since 2018 and now I am feeling bored of using Android 10. I want to purchase a new one but the question is - should I choose any nokia phone which is on Android 12 or should I look to another brand?
Depends on your budget. If you want near stock android experience and you have $500 to spend on a phone then wait for pixel 6a. If not then nokia is your best bet i think.
@@sirakayakomzin3926 Stock Android is not going to come on pixel phones . Google developed his own ui *Material you* . Kinda it feels like advanced stock Android. But Android one in nokia is pretty much good as I think because it has some features which lack in stock Android. But if I compare it with other ui like miui , Color os , oxygen OS , it seems to lack in feature
@@Unknown-jh3wk does nokia guarantee future updates? MI phones don't get regular updates. Oneplus is okay ig. About the pixel phones, the material you looks nice personally. But it also lacks features like call recording (i think only samsung phones have this).
It's a complicated question to answer! Stock android works really well on midrange and lower powered smartphones because its lightweight. I always chose based on design first and a basic look at specs that I find reasonable. Any devices from Nokia or others that grabbed your attention?

my wife had a yellow 720. lovely phone. windows phone was a superior OS to android and ios. it was well ahead of its time and coupled with Nokia's design language, it was a great fit.
Lumia 735 was the actual masterpiece with it's oled display and unparallel dual-sim functions.

I had it for 2 yrs. Then I sold it off like a fool! Wish I kept it, i miss it till date...

Nice video covering it. I still have my 720 in white polycarbonate, and still use it as my alarm clock. Unfortunately, the microphone died in mine within 3 years, and so did the vibration motor. One thing that was unacceptable was the poor web browser performance. If you use it today, you'd experience stalls and crashes all the time - it was even a problem when the phone was in regular use.

Man I really need another major competitor to iOS and Android
I accidently bought a nokia windows phone back almost 10 years ago. I customized it using the os, HATED it initially but grew to now love this more than any other os to date. It was solid! I wish this os didn't fade away so quick. Just wish windows would have removed their own dumb apps and google wasn't a little b about passing along their apps. It was amazing though! I created a custom theme through the os for my tiles so I could turn on and off the wifi with a click, flashlight, browser launcher, important apps, cell data, and bluetooth. It was clean and gorgeous!
I hope we live to see, that either Nokia or Microsoft tries to revive these devices. I always get excited when I see a video from you talking about a Lumia. But I restrain myself not to start up my old Lumias...
I focus my ex-Nokia passions on my Sony Xperia 10 with SFOS. That is only what is left and still can work as a daily. 😞

I have this in yellow. My very first smartphone.
A big plus is that it was running Windows Phone, not Android. Clear Black screen so you can see it in sunlight. Plus the rest you describe.

Back in 2014, I went to buy this phone at the Nokia Priority store and they said it's not available right now, and can't say anything when it'll come, so I had to buy Lumia 625 😅

I had Lumia 630 then Lumia 640XL.
I'd say that it's just a shame that Nokia/Microsoft didn't go forward with Windows mobile, one of the best OS I've ever used.
