What is the Trans Madeira?
The Trans Madeira is multi day blind mountain bike race that showcases everything Madeira has to offer. Over five days of racing through the World’s most diverse terrain, riders will explore all corners of the island, each day will start high in the mountains and finish down at the ocean.

Some FAQ about my bike:
- I'm riding a size large, I'm 189cm (a 6 foot 2).
- The cable integration is easy to install and work on (check out the bike build)
- The bike has a 150mm of travel and I've spec'd my build with a 160mm fork and grip 2 damper

I can approve Scotty's comment at 9:35 about how slippery the trails are when wet. The locals even has a name for it - "Madeiran Ice". I learned this while I was riding in Madeira early February this year. The first day of riding I think I crashed like 5 times, where one of the crashes I hurt my right leg pretty bad. Was riding with a pair of Maxxis Assegai 2.5" with 20 psi in each, and it was like zero grip most of the time.

Oh man, can sympathise! The two other boys I was there with went down hard on it. It’s pretty wild grip. Glad you’re all good - I don’t know if tire pressure made much of a difference for me! 😂

Looking forward to the rest of the series. I completed May 23 edition, in two minds as to whether doing the arrival day ride was worth the fatigue before the 5 main days or not! 😂 it was much bigger ride than I expected, if you are a punter aiming at completion be aware!! We had two really wet days too, loved it and my best stage results of the week 😅

I don’t necessarily know the names of the places! Would recommend a day of riding with Freeride Madeira if you wanna hit the best spots on the island!
Stage 2 and 7 seemed insanely steep.
Looks like a lot of fun tho.
Both had sections of steepness but the rocks were more the challenge! 1, 2 and 7 were maybe my favourite that day… Can confirm they were a lot of fun!

This was primarily shot on a GoPro Hero 12 with a Max lens mod.
What tires did you have?
Magic Mary front and Big Betty rear both are soft compound and super gravity casing! If I did it again I’d maybe go for a ultra soft MM up front…
