Is the Jose Mourinho effect starting to show at Tottenham Hotspur? Jose has turned Spurs into a proficient counter-attacking machine.
How has he done it? How has he turned a team that was reliant on progressive build up under Pochettino into a decisive counter-attacking unit?
    Seb Stafford-Bloor explains.

it is commendable. I also think Jose was very smart taking this job. Hjojberg and Reguilon have been important additions. Bergwijn gives them a good option. But beyond this spurs already had everything under Poch. What Poch built reached its peak with erisken, Jan and Toby all reaching the end but he also had another proper core maturing that is now in its peak and Jose has added to it. Lloris Moura Kane Son Lamela Dier Aurier. Ndomble and Lo celso have settled after bumps, and Jose has gotten 3 very important players in bergwijn Hjojberg and reguilon. It's crazy how after all these years Spurs had the conditions most suitable to Mourinho doing his thing. It's great to see.

Laissez-faire essentially means letting things take their own course without interruption. We all know mourinho is a very exacting manager. Certainly he's the opposite of laissez-faire. If any, Arsene Wenger's approach seems a bit lassiez-faire.

Mourinho’s perfect for Spurs, and part of it is because of his similarities to Pochettino.
    - Poch borrows tactical periodization training techniques from José.
    - Poch emphasized positional interchanges between the front four of Dele, Eriksen, Son, and Kane.
    - Under Pochettino, many of our goals came from pulling the last line of defense and picking players out in the pockets of space left, which is what we do under José now.

I tend to think that possession is a most misleading statistic in terms of understanding what actually happened in a game. I've seen this with another defensively solid counter-attacking team, Atletico, who often allow their opponents to play around with the ball, but it's really Atleti who are in control (not the case against Real on the weekend where Real always seemed in control) . It's such a transformation for Tottenham who always seemed vulnerable at the back,, however exciting they might be going forward.

Difference: Mou's Chelsea started the attack from Hazard and Cesc to the wingers and Diego Costa. It's basically Madrid but with beast mode Benzema and without CR7. Mou's MU uses the luxury option of Pogba and Ibra to distract and made the not-luxury option of Fellaini to run and creating some space. Lack of chemistry hindered the chances and creating errors.
Similarity: Mou loves Maicon. That's why he wanted and tried to have box-to-box player like Marcelo, Azpi, Shaw, and most likely Reguilon now

Mourinho base tactics is the famous Italian Catenaccio. Then he develops it into Dutch Total Football. The Catenaccio is rock solid defense with deadly counter. The Total Football is the All Attack All Defense style.
That is why he needs more time to develop his team.
His players also required to have excellent work ethics and desire to win (this desire always declining as his team wins more matches), something he really needs to find solutions if he ever wants to manage like Sir Alex or Arsene.
