Mourinho has assumed various tactical identities in his various managerial spells - he is not just a dour pragmatist as sometimes painted - and this Spurs team should elicit a more attacking version. Although it’s early in his tenure in North London, and so this is a broad overview, there are a few noticeable features of Spurs under his leadership.

You should have mentioned his assistent coach that he brought from Lille to Tottenham, that guy is known to be a tactical genius.
Who is he?
Yes, that guy is apparently a football scholar. Sky sports has written a wonderful piece on him.
Cobbster none of the back room staff get mentioned even though they play a massive role. The manager is sort of the face of the operation when in reality it’s a collective unit that all have important roles.

Do Brendan Rodgers' Leicester : Tactical analysis
There is one already, something like how Rodgers creates a mini-city at Leicester
@@nicknestler5160 but they are different from Man City, they attack differently, they defend well, the most tackles per game in Europe, the defense system itself is asking for separate analysis.
Ndidi is way better DM than Rodri (defensively) and Leicester CB pair is well organized
Nick Nestler Not up to date though
@@nm0408 tf are you guys smoking. Ndidi is badass but Rodri is miles better than him. Even in a game we lost against Man utd, he showed how good he is.
Bayern game will mean nothing, Mourinho has already said that he'll be resting his key players.
tottenham already qualify or not?
@@patricksantino4131 qualified
But if by any chance they can win, then that will show how capable he is
@@theChihiro07 sure a fking stupid mong, how??? He's playing youth players, how does that show how capable a manager is? Its up to the players to show how good they are
@@theChihiro07 but it doesnt matter, no result will change their finishing positions
Football originally appeared on the athletic
Well saId
My 10yr old son says "this first appeared on the Athletic" every time I watch a Tifo football video.
Whenever ndombele has played for mourinho he’s been excellent definitely better than winks
Streak Spider Winks was a big reason why Spurs lost the champions league final. He’s decent at keeping the ball ticking over but offers very little else.
I'm worried for ndombele he keeps getting injured.
Winks most overrated player
Winks overrated.. belongs at clubs like Bournemouth
They're both different players, bottom line is winks and Sissoko can not play together
Need to take a look at how Nuno has developed some of those wolves players, traore, Neves, Jimenez, Jota, not to mention their defence, coady who Liverpool let go, boly, dendoncker etc, created some stars
had to have a laugh at alderweireld's tats in the artwork
Best thing I like about Mourinho's Tottenham is that Lucas Mora is getting his deserved playtime...
A game changer.
Yeah that was the biggest thing with poch for me I mean Moria is a very good player who just wasn’t getting picked
Eh he’s alright
He isn’t good enough to start games.
Tom St well he’s scored 2 and assisted 1 in the games the 3 prem games he’s started under mourinho.
I got real flashbacks and vibes of his Real Madrid team watching Tottemhams last match. Deadly

hey Tifo, could you make a video about Jorge Jesus's Flamengo who's dominating South America?
Love your content, greetings from Brazil
That would be great mate
That's easy. He implemented a high-pressing game and started having two training sessions a day. People are acting like he invented the wheel.
Something obvious like the grass on the training pitch being the same height as the grass on the playing field, and everyone had their minds blown.
@ if it was so easy i would be the greatest coach on earth

As soon as I heard about the appointment, I knew Spurs would be dangerous. Mourinho«s United didn't have the type of players he usually likes, they seriously lacked steel and aggressiveness. While Spurs have that in droves. Son, Kane, and Alli are exactly the types of players Mourinho likes to use - a winger with massive goal threat and work rate, a powerful striker who is clinical and good at distribution, and an attacking midfielder who has high spatial intelligence and also scores goals (aka his "Lampard / Deco / Sneijder" role).
Ghost Knight
Wow, great insight 👍
Definitely looking forward to how Mourinho shapes this Tottenham side.
Great video as always, Tifo! I've got a lot to learn from you guys🙌😁

That was great! I was hoping to hear your take on Mourinho's fit as Spurs coach, and as ever you delivered in style!
Great video. I’m an Arsenal fan but I can’t deny enjoying watching Jose manage his team.
Hope you will do a video on Ljungberg tactics.
Mourinho is one of the best managers of the last 20 years. Its insane the amount of hate he got after United.
I would love to see you guys make a video about Slaven Bilic West brom tactics and/or Marco Rose Mønchengladbach tactics
You should do a Video on Manchester United’s ability to almost exclusively beat top six teams and no one else
And that's how they want to win the League
😂😂😂
That's because top six play more freely against United, and thus United can hit them on the counter. That won't work against lower teams who defend with their whole team. United have pace but no creativity/heading prowess to beat low blocks
Saptarshi B. Exactly, simple stuff really.
You should ask the refs and var about that.
One of the best channels in CZcams offering top class football commentaries and analysis
If anyone is wondering why Mourinho plays more attacking football now than has done in a long time. It's mainly because his long term Assistant Rui Faria who was the actual brains of that very defensive, counter attacking football moved on last season. Both he and Mourinho had worked very closely together at every club since they first met at FC Porto. So I fully expect to see more exciting attacking football under Mourinho from now on even in the bigger matches.
so that assistant is till with him or not
Thanks for that info, it explains a lot
Can you do an episode on all of the Red Bull teams around the world and how they are involved with these teams. Maybe there is an episode on this already that I don’t know about.
great video!
Fantastic Video. Congratulations!
This is the video we've all been waiting for
Great stuff
Im glad he joined spurs, mostly bcos I wanna see the praise he gets, from those spurs fans who use to insult him either for his tactics or arrogance on the press, when he was with Chelsea and also united, now they will definitely understand why he is called the special one, I can bet they will all tell you, he's got a stronger character and personality than pochetinno
i would love see managers of the clubs involved (mourinho in this case) review these videos.
2:09 Tobys tattos are great
Feels right that Mourinho is back

great video
Stopped listening by the 21st second.
So Mourinho won 3 trophies at Man United in 2.5 years but you said he's a failure.
While Pochettino was at Spurs for 5.5 years, he won ZERO trophies but you consider him a success.
W T F !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Another great video and one I was looking forward to.
I'd love a video on both the Arsenal and Everton managerial situations. Perhaps a rundown of the managers that are candidates and the managers that should be. Like a sensible transfers video but with managers. I believe a similar video was made about United around Jose's sacking this time last year.
If you're a Spurs fan here, can we please stop this 'we are back' nonsense. Mourinho has only been in charge 5 games and yes we've won 80% of them, but there is still a mountain to climb. There are still core players who have contract issues, injury plagued victims and some who are simply not good enough. In terms of tactics, Kane only excelled vs Burnley as they played 442 and he was able to find space between the central midfield and defence, all you need is a holding mid to fill in that space and he won't get on the ball e.g. vs United.
I am not saying we are back. That said, you are kind of exaggerating our problems. Toby seems like he's willing to renew his contract, Eriksen is left on the bench where he belongs. Kane is excelling every match without needing to score through tracking back, giving key crosses to aurier on the right, and opening up spacse for Dele and Son. What's really bugging me off is our depth in the back.
It’s worth noting that aside from Toby Alderweireld, they also have a goalkeeper, Paulo Gazzaniga, who is very good at playing the ball out.
I think Crystal Palace has been interesting this year. They have injuries, players our of position, and still in the top 10 more than 20 games in. Can you do a video explaining their manager, Roy Hodgson and his tactics. Please!?
Interesting review. The three that build up from the back are key, especially vertonghen who is playing as LB in defence but as a LCB in offence. Also he is rotation of players and their versatility is also helping. For example Moussa Sissoko has operated as a CM and as RW. Dele Alli and Harry Kane have a lot of freedom in their movement, both operating as CF and Second Strikers, with Kane even receiving the ball in very wide positions. A lot of fluidity in their offensive organisation
Sissoko has not in any way played left wing, he has attacked down the left hand side of the penalty box having made bursting runs with the ball from the centre of the pitch..
TheShaneTownsend I meant RW. If you watch the Bournemouth game that’s where he plays
You guys should really do a Football Manager walkthrough.
Love that Jose is back. The PL is not quite the same without him
José is a YID 💕
the intro is an instrumental of busta rhymes "i'll hurt you"
Spurs under Poch, at least in his final 12/18 months, was possibly even more direct than under Mourinho. It was literally turn the ball over and ping it up to Son or Moura as quick as possible, he'd leave two up top at all times, of which one was always either Son or Moura, specifically for this. The biggest pitfall during Spurs fall from grace under Poch was that the movement of players became poor and the passing was extremely laboured when facing a low defensive block, as against Newcastle where they had 70% possession and never looked like scoring. Under Mourinho, Spurs are passing through the lines quicker and with much more incisive passing again. It's every bit as attacking and good to watch as Poch's Spurs ever were.
A pivot of ndobembele and lo celso against weaker opposition would be fun 2 watch
Could you guys do a video of spurs new assistant coach João Sacramento?

Hey Tifo Football or any coaches or trainers, any tips on how to train a team trying to run a diamond line up or 4 3 2 1 like Gallardo

Can you guys please do a video on Alfredo Morelos or Rangers' tactics? Thx
much has changed over the months..
Mou played, 4-4-2, 4-3-3 & 4-3-2-1 in his last 3 games against, Arsenal, Newcastle & Leicester
How would I become a tactical coach or advisor for a pro club? Any help would be appreciated
The game against Bayern should be a good opportunity for Mourinho to see the players who haven't played yet. Tottenham have already qualified for the next round, so there is no need to potentially injure or tire out his key players.
Do a tactical analysis of Jorge Jesus' record-shattering Flamengo team that is likely to face liverpool at the Club World Cup
Here before this becoming an Athletic article.
Now all of a sudden Mau is taking over a good squad.but ppl were saying Poch needs to re-inforce n he dd nt hv a good team but good players individualy.

I wish him the semi-best. if they take points from mancity I'll be happy but of course I hope they don't beat us (chelsea) in the race for top4.
and tbh spurs are a very exciting team right now. it would be amazing if tottenham, wolves (if they keep up their form) and manu keep arsenal out of the european spots
I take it you're a fan of all but...
@@eland65 there's 5 levels imo. 1. Being a fan/supporter (in my case chelsea)
2. Respecting a team / having sympathies for them (wolves, any mourinho team, etc)
3. Being neutral (brighton, sheffield)
4. disliking a team (newcastle, norwich)
5. Hating a team and wishing them the worst (mancity, arsenal)
You also have to consider these can change in the context of a season or current developments. For example: manu have been bad for the last 3 years so I don't mind them as much as I did when they were a CL contender. And mancity I want to see lose every game because I don't want them to win the prem 3 times in a row because that'd boring... you see? The simple logic of a football fan :D
@@frankunodostres473 I'm a fan of Porto, Chelsea, Real, Inter, Manu and Spurs..., and sure, Manc's stale and Arsenal who...?

Son score goal of the season.... but spurs defence not looked in proper shape but they are deadly in counter attack and sissoko play more agressive
He spoke about that post match on Saturday - telling the forwards they are responsible too, they over compensated though in my opinion not pressing when they were 4 up.
Can you do a video on Steven Gerrards tactics at rangers, especially when he makes subs because I haven't got a clue what he is thinking half the time. Brandon Barker on in a cup final.
Chocolate mouss being converted to yaya toure. I would of rather ndombele be that guy but 🤷🏽♂️ guy seems to have a fitness problem.
Dele is turning into a beast. I dunno what mourinho has said to him but he looks like a different baller.

He asked Dele if he was Dele or his brother
Sissoko scoring goals convinced me without a doubt José is a genius
winks is injured and mourinho has already said he's playing youth
Do Jorge Jesus' Flamengo.
what block does mourinho spurs play?
I want jose to drop eriksen and use lo celso/lucas moura in the attacking midfield with eric dier and sissoko/ndombele in the center-midfield
Barring the United result, Jose and Tottenham have really done a solid job since him becoming their manager. They will be a dangerous side going into the second half of the season.
Angers tactics pls

ZAHA & AKE in January then in summer - Zyiech, Telles/Chilwell/Gaya/Atal, Back up GK & Better GK coach & maybe new striker like Pukki/C.Wilson if Michy leaves. Perfekt transfer windows done. Squad on another level ready to compete on all front. Also EPL with the big boys Liverpool and City.
He plays a classical 4-2-3-1 as he usually does. To me he didnt show any sign of a ''new, adaptable Mourinho'' but i think in a mid season it is logical to change less. Right now i think we are moving forward with a wind coming from the change of the coach but this style of football is as i said old and a classic style no one uses it anymore, it may not work in a long period.I hope when it comes to adapt, he can do it. Right now how i see is he sımplified the game especially for the attackers and gave them freedom and it brought results. After Poch s highly tactical and detailed approach, players are happy to be playing with less thinking and more freedom i think
SDASneijder
I loved Poch but he over complicated things by changing the team constantly. It spoilt any momentum we had
Jose is a legend
Cus everyone shits on all the trophies now apart from the prem and CL, I kinda forget he actually won trophies at man utd
What's the song?
So... you're telling me that this wasn't already in the Athletic??? Fresh content over here lads
Intro song?
Very curious to see Tottenham against Bayern. Besides the individual errors, the game with MU was disapointing tatticaly, even though this is what Mourinho is known for. Bad pressure activation, a lot of space between the middlefield and the defense, and also lack of capacity to play inside in the attack.
The Athletic originally appeared on this video.
I wish i could see more of GLC and Sessegnon and less of Eric Dier.
Who with me?
If Hugo wasn't injured, Tottenham wouldn't have conceded so many goals. Even though Poch saw something in Gazzaniga, he was Southampton's 4th choice when he signed

I think Paolo has done well to be fair. The only one game Hugo might’ve rescued a draw for us was v Utd. Rashford at the near post
