Whenever I see a modern F1 steering wheel, I can hear “gentlemen, a short view back to the past” in my head lol.
can you repeat the question
He is still waiting for Hamilton’s book
Who is that question to?
@@R_OBI_N I think it was for Fernando
Niki Lauda said if you put a monkey in the car
Ah finally found the slow button: Ferrari middle wheel, green area
I think Leclerc's wheel actually has a button on the left side by where the charge button is on Sainz's wheel that says slow.
@@user-io1sx7eb5d inlaps after quali laps and after the race
We are checking
Slow 🅱️utton on
Slow button on slow button on
When Carlos Sainz realizes he must become Carlos Science to operate an F1 car. Seriously, 56th mode?
It's never the driver's fault, never😂😂😂
Like c'mon how can someone press all those buttons while driving so fast..! Then learn about them and like Carlos when switching team every 1or 2 years...
So basically he blames Vettel’s old engineer for every lockup Vettel had 🤪
Nice one Carlos 👍😁
@@hexley33 It was a joke smartass
MaferLuna actually having all those buttons is way more convenient than what I use for sim racing, I don’t have all the buttons laid out like that I have way fewer buttons and have to use a quick menu, it definitely is possible to make all these changes at high speed, it just takes practice and skill (brag not intended)
Gentlemen, a short view back to the past. Thirty years ago, Niki Lauda told us ‘take a monkey, place him into the cockpit and he is able to drive the car.’ Thirty years later, Sebastian told us ‘I had to start my car like a computer, it’s very complicated.’ And Nico Rosberg said that during the race - I don’t remember what race - he pressed the wrong button on the wheel. Question for you both: is Formula One driving today too complicated with twenty and more buttons on the wheel, are you too much under effort, under pressure? What are your wishes for the future concerning the technical programme during the race? Less buttons, more? Or less and more communication with your engineers?
More efficiency and harvesting the maximum of your machinery's potential = more buttons and complicated setups. Pretty sure it will continue to get more complicated from here on out
Just if someone doesn't get it, this is the transcript of a really funny moment during a press conference before a race, in 2016 I think. Check for it on yt and enjoy it xD
He didnt hear it can you repeat the question
This is such a classic.
I was reading this with the typical German accent
no one:
Carlos: eñine
And don't forget Iñenieur 😂
asdfghjklñ
ennin and eninir
enerhi
Carlos using "Full Beans" in a sentence. Lando flashbacks
Sick Thrustmaster wheel Carlos
Build quality is better on the Thrustmaster 🤣
@@philclarke7712 Also you can select the vibration level on Thrustmaster :P
Underrated comment right here
Carlos would make such a good teacher, he explains it so well ♥️
So nice to see Carlos with Ferrari. What a great time to be F1 fan.
This is probably the most detailed video about F1 steering wheels to date. Well done Ferrari
Most informative video about the wheel in years 👍🏻🙂 Carlos gives us so much more information and seems to be genuinely excited about the whole thing.
True, other teams keep it so much more secret
Ferrari must've thought that since it is the last year on current regulations and since everyone has pretty much the same functions it would'nt matter
@@orcahhh8017 Yeah that makes sense
@@Avto28 merc have done it ith bottas, and on a real wheel not a dummy, he also goes into detail
@@lexuslfa4739 No where near as much info as what Carlos gave us in this video
@@Avto28 the merc gave info on all sides, the driver, the material, and the functions. They also have a continuation of that video that even goes into the clutch and DAS
"Full beans" Carlos must have picked up that saying at McLaren lol
I can't read Steering Wheel without reading it with Kimi's voice. "GLOVES AND STEERING WHEEL, YEAH! COME ON!"
Love you Carlos, good luck for this weekend ❤️🇪🇸
That was great. Nicely explained, a lot of the in depth interesting details like brake shaping. Plus explaining why was very useful too.
Vamos Carlos, we know you will do your best🔥🔥💯
How many button touches/changes are done in a single lap? Feels like at some point this is like learning a new song on the guitar, you just play it, without even realizing all that you are doing
I thought the same. It like... you have done so many chords and shapes that you just do it automatically
It varies. It can be as few as only a couple of touches per lap to 30-40+. It's very dependent on the situation and driver style/preference.
Some will micromanage their various differential settings and brake bias specifically to each individual (grip limited) corner. Others will adapt their technique to the car behaviour but will make setting adjustments as the car state evolves (lighter fuel and tyre wear). Then there's the engine mode, electric deploy and electric harvest which might not be touched for several laps if driving alone but is managed a lot during on-track battles. It's common for a defending driver to harvest energy in sectors where it's not possible to overtake so that they deploy as much energy as possible in DRS zones to defend from the car behind. This hurts lap times but it's an effective tactic to limit DRS advantage because dirty air makes it very difficult for the car behind to match the same level of energy harvest. Lewis vs. Max at Bahrain this year is a good example of this. Lewis was managing a lot throughout a lap so that he could purposely dump energy on the straight leading to the final corner which really limited the slipstream Max had on the start/finish straight.
Yes These guys know the wheels like the back of their hands. They can make adjustments without looking. It just gets a bit complicated when they need to go through menus
@@jraybay yet Kimi still bashed into Giovinazzi :D
@@hnastrup great info thanks!

Good to finally understand about tire locking . Thanks !
Thanks for the video!

Carlos this very interesting about the different buttons on steering wheel are use for at track race in F1 and Grand prix weekend.
Awesome Carlos!
Nice video, Good luck this season
I LOVE YOU CARLOS!!❤🥺
Good Luck! We want you on the pole at this Grand Prix
Not possible if dry
At least set some realistic expectations. I’d say P4 is achievable.
@@Irock2412 it's formula 1

Well...
Love it ”it’s never the drivers fault that we lock up, the engineer has not done a good job”
Wow! That's alot of buttons! Imagine driving more than 200kmph and have to do all these, just wow! Good luck gwapito! 🧡💙 home race!!! Let's go! ❤
Que grande eres Carlosssss👏👏👏
Grade Carlos!!🙌🙌
Very cool! We,appreciate your,lesson Carlos.
All the best, lad! Shine like a star in your home GP.
“No Carlos, you will not have the drink.”
Tieni duro...
Thankyou Carlos for showing us all where the slow button is.
Very good informative video : D

Was secretly hoping to see the drincc button on the wheel.
Read the description.... Made my day
Grande Carloss
Hola Carlos y buen trabajo❤️💛
They haven't told Carlos that FIA won't let them use the oil button anymore! 🤣😂😅
I love his pronouncation of "G".
"Eneryi"
actually it is the sound of the letter 'J' that he has difficulty with 'Yug' for 'Jug, 'Enyineer' for Engineer etc. etc.
vrccb it’s probably because his main language is Spanish and the j’s aren’t pronounced “juh” it’s “yuh” or like “jay” and “yay”
@@Farmersteve33 Exactly

Hey Carlos interesting explanation, there are not any safety car botton mode?

Great to see you and Lando driving strong this season.
Huh?
This is not a Lando video
it’s what he said in mclaren unboxed when he meets up with/runs to lando
I dunno what you do, we as your fans want you to get the pole in the next race. Vamos. Come on Carlos jr 💪💪💪💪💪
You're fast, and take the credit which you always deserved. Come on my friend. All the best and lots of love from India 🇮🇳

I love how you pronunce engine
Ah yes, Carlos Science explains the steering wheel XD
I feel like an F1 steering wheel would be the ultimate fidget toy. I would spend hours flipping switches and turning knobs.
the goat
Energy, engine, engineer, engineering
Crack!!!
