    Funny thing that low fuel warning... in the Zero's you can just set the tanks to full and not worry about fuel for the rest of the EC match. It's not like the added weight suddenly enables Spitfires or some such to outrate(turnrate) you, you're still one of the most agile things in the sky... and anything more agile is on your side anyway. ^^
    In a Zero, and by extension a lot of other japanese fighters, bombers and heavy fighters, you have all the time in the world to position yourself exactly right for an attack... unlike Spitfire's(especially Griffons) or 109's who have to watch the fuel clock constantly. ^^
    Oh, here's a theory supported by lots of ingame evidence witnessed by myself and lots of other players over the years...
    Full fuel tanks actually reduce the chance of being set on fire. It's fuel vapors in half empty tanks and outside leaking tanks that catch fire and/or explode, not the fuel in the tank. Of course, if the fuel tank gets perforated, then all bets are off again.

      @MagzGTV  Před 3 lety

      The tank mode works pretty much just as well, the only issue is in a tank you need to be able to look around quickly, especially the way WT is played so while VR doesn't really have any major advantages or disadvantages over a screen with trackIR in air sim in terms of the ability to see, it is a significant disadvantage against those who can just press C and snap the mouse cam 180 degrees in under a second in tank sim.

    • @MagzGTV
      @MagzGTV  Před 3 lety

      @@codemy666 I know that, but the turret following isn't the issue I was pointing out. in VR if you want to say. . look behind your tank you need to look over your shoulder or turn around. . . that's how VR works and it takes as long as it takes you to make that physical action. On a screen I can press see and flick my mouse to make the same movement in less than a second.
      While in aircraft looking with mouse is a little difficult as you need to still fly the plane and track IR and VR are about on par with head checking (TIR is a little faster due to being less than 1:1 movement) it's all close enough to be little to no advantages. In WT tank sim however the difference in time it takes to check your rear is the time it takes to aim and shoot.

    • @codemy666
      @codemy666 Před 3 lety

      @@MagzGTV That disadvantage would be worth it if it was better invented, vr is a niche enough on it's own and it gets worse when you speak of tanks, i don't mind being in a disadvantage because honestly i find the game more fun that way and it adds to the gameplay

    • @MagzGTV
      @MagzGTV  Před 3 lety

      @@codemy666 "That disadvantage would be worth it if it was better invented" - No it wouldn't, the thing is WT is not a sim especially not in tanks. It's a competitive combat game with twitch gaming elements, reaction times are everything in tank sim and VR simply slows you down too much.
      To change that you wouldn't just need to "improve VR implementation" You would need to completely gut and redesign the whole of War thunders ground battles. . . all of it, not just sim but all game modes since they are all based on the same core game design. i.e. WT tank sim is just WT tank RB with markers disabled and the view locked at the zoomed in position. WT tank RB is just WT tank arcade with more limited spawns and a lower movement speed modifier and enemy markers turned off. from a gameplay mechanics stand point they are otherwise identical.
      If you want a tank sim that you can play in VR WT isn't and never will be it, you would be better off looking at IL-2's tank crew or hoping for VR integration in one of the new upcoming tank sims.

      G'day mate, It's clear you have never viewed my channel or any of my content before so welcome. So to answer.
      "You have decent flight and gunnery skills, have you tried the more simulator sims ?" you should have taken a look at my channel, if you had you probably would have noticed some rather large playlists that include IL-2 (Great battles, flying circus, CLoD and 1946), Rise of Flight, DCS World and Microsoft Flight simulator. . . I think I even have a few X plane videos floating about as well among some other sims here and there. I play other sims very often infact my very last video was IL-2 Flying Circus and my next is likly to be a great battles multiplayer compellation.
      As for "I'm genuinely curious what draws players to these games?" well that's probably because it's fun. . . not everything has to be hyper realistic and not everyone wants something that is all the time.
      "War Thunder is extremely popular." - It is, it's player base is several times larger than most other combat flight sims combined, this is largely because it's easily accessible and easy to learn and fly, that makes it more fun than a hardcore sim where a player can spend 10 minutes just starting the aircraft before they can even taxi.
      "it would just be nice to see more playersake the jump to more realistic sims as well" - Indeed, that's why I started the Unprofessionals, it's a multiplayer community intended to provide a fun gaming space for new players looking at getting into fligth sims, We have IL-2 and DCS servers and also do MSFS2020 flyouts from time to time, Weekly events, a discord server and an extremely active community.
      But the thing is, not everyone wants to fly a more realistic sim, and no matter how much fun you or I may find it others will frankly find them flat boring.
      Also, I've found that the sim community is it's worst enemy, In the eight years I have been covering flight simulation on youtube I have seen countless sim pilots talking down to war thunder players, being frankly rude to them for simply liking WT and not flying the sim they prefer.
      In the process of doing that the simulation community has largely generated a reputation among the players of soft sims and flight games like WT as being a pack of arseholes. It's something I have to constantly fight against and it kind of drives me nuts that people that do look down on games such as WT can't understand that they are often the reason players don't want to midgrate, after all would you want to fly in a community that hates you for enjoying yourself on a game they didn't like for no other reason than it didn't meet there standard?
      Been doing what I can in this regard but it's an uphill battle, anyways. Welcome to the channel.

    • @ribbs67
      @ribbs67 Před 3 lety +2

      @@MagzGTV Thanks for the reply.. Sorry if I came off as rude it wasnt my intentions at all. As far as talking down to WT players.. thats not my style. Some people play flight sims for " the game" and some people play the Sim for "realism". I jjst happen to be in the latter category. When i play, I want the experience to be as close as I can get it to what some teenage or early 2s kid felt when crawling into that aircraft. Like i said before i was genuinely intrested on what draws people to WT. Its player base is huge. The "Sim" crowd isnt near as big and you probably answered why.. by us being the way you precieved. Sorry I came off the way I did, it wasnt intentional. I act5 work very hard in trying to break the perception of "Sim" players and offer my time qhite a bit to help and draw new players to the genre. @MagzGTV  Před 3 lety +3

      @@ribbs67 No need to apologies mate, I was simply answering your questions as honestly as I can, and yes that is the core of it.
      The main reason soft sims and flight games are larger and will always be larger in size than flight and study sims is that the majority of people flying are not looking for realism, they are looking for the movie moment, they want to feel like maverick from top gun or the aces from the Battle of Britain for 5 minutes or so then go on with there lives and other interests.
      I too enjoy a sim as realistic as it can be but I understand there point of view and as with this video quite often enjoy a nice layed back flight in WT myself for those reasons.
      People only looking for this feeling are unlikely to really progress into summing as that's not what they are looking for and that's cool.
      The second issue is lesser but it is the sim community itself, while it absolutely needs new blood to grow and expand, many of those in it seem hellbent on gate keeping. A quick look over the forums of both IL-2 and especially DCS will show you how bad this is and sadly it often does turn people away. This is a larger issue and in my opinion a major factor in why combat flight simulation is the smallest flight sim demographic, even MSFS2020 despite only being a few months old has more active stable players than the current mix of combat flight sims combined, and I think that's because the gatekeeping in civil aviation simulations is so much smaller than in combat sims.
      After years of doing this I don't really have a solution to the second problem other than expanding my own Unprofessional community, encouraging people to come in and fly, fight, do stupid shit, crash and otherwise just have fun free from the gate keeping. But I'm only one person with one community in the mass that is the combat flight sim community as a whole. . . . I think there needs to be a shift in thinking if combat flight simming is to ever get big like it was in the late 90's, but I'm not sure we'll ever see that.
